    homeworld is the best game series ever. (or at least in the top 10)

    When i picked up my first copy in the store and said to myself, "that's an interesting design for a spaceship", i knew i was hooked. even before the tagline ("Your past is a lie. Your future is uncertain. And you're 10,000 light years from home") reeled me in, i knew i was going to buy it.

    even the multitude of bugs and lousy support by sierra/relic couldn't turn me off.

    Cataclysm was more of the awesome, but suffered somewhat from a couple of bad actors, repetition and cliches, and bad writers. (how many times does that matron of a fleet command say, "it's like nothing we've ever seen before!"?)
    on the other hand, the way the captain says "burn!" when you fire the siege cannon gives me goose bumps.

    homeworld 2 blew me away in terms of gameplay, but i didn't like the religious overtones. i didn't like the way they handled the hyperspace cores -- almost like religious artifacts. plus, Karan S'jet is fucking hot.

    even though it had those few downfalls, i definitely think that the homeworld series is among the best ever in any genre. its story hits very close to home with the psychological need for home, shelter, belonging, history, etc.

    all around, awesome series.

    One day I happened to remember a cartoon I watched oon Saturday morning when I was little. It was about robots in space... some thing like "Robo..." hm...

    So I did a google search on "robo". Of course, no luck . Then, "robot cartoon", and finally "saturday morning". Guess what?

    The Mighty Orbots.

    Now how else would you find this information?

    I would tend to agree with the posts concerning the need for better storylines being priority over better art, at least initially.
    Perhaps there's room for artists to get together and provide a service such as this also? Take sites devoted to providing info on the technical aspects of amateur video productions (eg. slashcam), they also have articles on making good on storylines etc.
    Cover both sides of the coin and we're sure to end up with better storylines and better art ;)
    Two of my favourite online comics luckily have a bit of both it would appear; Stars and Steel is a comic with what appears to be a storyline which is fairly decent and a lot of potential, with art which is not too bad at all either - the other, Outsider, is a comic which is reminicent to me of the Wing Commander games with the whole space saga thing going on there, the art being pretty damn well done there also.

    There's potential out there ;)
