Re:Another day....
Sounds like a pretty bad experience.
I've got the ME102 also, which I've had good luck with. If you still have it, try giving this utility a go. It lets you adjust way more stuff than netgear's utility - which i agree is poor. Another useful feature is that you can adjust the strength of the signal output, which netgear don't set to the highest setting.
I've not really checked out the AEBS, but maybe I will if I ever need 11g.

be careful where you colo your server
...or else you could end up having to explain to your customers that the FBI has your server and you don't know when you're getting it back like this guy did.

Re:Anybody saving the entire mp3 streams?
I would imagine WI2600's Mediawhore will eventually have the full audio of the conference.

Re:Local Mirror of Shoutcast Stream [Doh!]
Doh! Didn't mean to say milwaukee2600.org, but rather wi2600.org.

More Free music
Guitar-Idiot by Foofus
"...feel free to share copies with whomever; I am not in this for the money." -Mr. Rufus Faloofus in an email to me.
Each a Separate World is probably the better track in that compilation. Many of them were actually written by others. I also really enjoy Even Here We Are, originally written by Paul Westerberg. Somewhere Over the Rainbow is a little painful to listen to, though. The tough notes and the crappy encoding are most of the problem. -
Charter did this during the switch overCharter did this during the switch over from @home. They installed thier client and said you HAD to install this otherwise you could not get on the internet. It ripped out ALL your network settings and then replaced it with all thier and MS's "personalized" corporate feces.
They also said they did not turn on the software, but after portscanning all of Charter's IP space that Arin said was allocated to them over 13,000 computers had this port listening out of over 25,000+ (4.5 Class C's) were actively listening for connections and would accept a connection if you telnetted to the port. Whereas scanning a non charter IP subnet there were less than 20 that accepted this (I don't have my numbers with me ATM).
The wonderful fellows at Securepipe.com Looked into this and brought it up with the local "watch dog" columnist for one of the local papers who wrote an article about this. Charter was not happy. The guys at Securepipe also brought this up with the local cable commission. Who were semi interested in this issue. About a week later port filtering was in place, including port 641 (what the software runs on).
They said the use was for the ability to remotely help users. Yes this is a nice function to have, but what if this fell into the wrong hands? The Broadjump software is based off of an older version of VNC that has some weak authentication issues. And also dealing with Charter and @home techs I wouldn't trust these people with my computer anyway. I don't trust my mother with my computer.
This was back in Novemeber/December who knows what they could do now.
wi2600.org You can read the threads here, many to list and you can see the research that we did to get into this. I do not know if an electronic copy of the mentioned newspaper article exists but if it does, I will try and get it posted.

We've got a mirror of the guide up (fat pipe generously donated by the wisconsin 2600 chapter)
If you're interested in helping out with the project, check out our SourceForge project page and drop me a line if you'd like to contribute or have suggestions or patches. The whole thing is now in DocBook format, so diff's are always appreciated. -

Re:Hehe
You can see that one and more at the wi2600.org/mediawhore site here(61.5MB DiVX 3.11).
Actually, many of those look quite similar to the things the guy in the video is showing; especially the hub which lost power.*
* And the punchline is: "Well, we've fixed that. Now there's power on every port!" -
A case in point
Where I work I have my IBook and a Tibook... We have a Linksys Wap 11, hacked which is used for an occasional HP or Sony notebook with addon cards, and basically all time access for our Mac's... The signal strength between the Tibook and Ibook is more than negligible.. This is measure in Yellow Dog linux using the WaveMon program on freshmeat Generally speaking, on a scale of from the restraunt next door(a four or five on the WaveMon program on the ibook, which translates to a 0 on the Tibook> to within 2 feet of the wireless access point the difference between the ibook and the tibook is always at least 10 points, with the tibook on the low end.... If this isn't empirical evidence I don't know what is...

SNMP?
From what i can tell, this doesn't have to be a Windows only hack. The piece of software that Xam states is only built for Win32 seems to be nothing more then an SNMP manager. Now, the Win32 tool might make it a bit easier, but you can hardly call it "requires a Windows box".
