Re:generates four times the energy of nuclear fiss
You cannot "generate" energy. Not one time, not four times.
Okay, Pedantic Avenger... how about using the utopian word 'liberate'... as if the anthropomorphically infused energy was kicking and screaming to get out? You could even have it breathe a sigh of relief and grin and bow to everyone like a genie.
In addition to pursuing the promise of liberating 4 times the energy that could theoretically but not practically be produced in today's water cooled solid fuel fission reactors... how about finding a way to increase fuel burn efficiency from their abysmal ~0.5-0.7% to something in, say, the high 90%s? Like one hundred times better?
Of course I'm talking about fuel dissolved in molten salts. Uranium burners like ThorCon now with a concerted effort to achieve the dream laid out (and prototyped) by Alvin Weinberg in the '60s, Thorium breeders that actively process salts to remove long-lasting products... to achieve a ~300 year walk-away-safe waste profile. Literally the best idea, ever! And if we do it before China does, we may even jump out in front again and save ourselves from financial ruin. Another plus.

My June 2017 letter to Energy Secretary Perry was focused on the vulnerability of US natural gas. It is a great pain to state the obvious, but necessary because utility wind and solar has made faux-environmentalists into useful idiot 'crypto-advocates' of gas grid generation. We are on the cusp where a coordinated attack on the gas distribution network in a few places would trigger cascading grid failure, as distant gas plants operating directly from the pipelines drop offline and stay offline for days or weeks. This sentiment has since taken shape as the Trump Administration proposes ways to protect utilities able to stockpile 90 days of fuel, and encourage them to do so. It comes down to a simple question: Can you supply a compelling reason why the United States electric grid should fail completely within hours of a relatively simple attack?
This letter of mine has been in Donald Trump's possession since May 2, 2016 . If you read it you may discover why I considered Trump the only candidate worthy of such a message. In his pronouncement to pursue energy self-sufficiency in general and consider nuclear an essential part of the mix, there is hope. The others offer nothing but more years of bad road and an obscenely stupid fixation on base load irredeemables (wind and solar). Trump is literally the only one with the courage to stand up to the tripe.
In 2013 I reached out to Senator Inhofe to propose an energy path for Oklahoma and the country.
Also in 2013 I reached out directly to Halliburton Corporate with a very specific idea that just might have laid groundwork for their secure long-term future. At the time their stock was climbing towards $70 and they probably thought they didn't have a care in the world. Not so good now. Not a glimmer from this one either. I had high hopes for it.
Mentioned in these letters is Faulkner's 2005 paper on Electric (HVDC) pipelines, and the two hour Thorium Remix 2011 video presentation (time index below).

Re:Questionable test
They're asking whether you should buy them or not. That they might work in lab conditions is great, but using (not testing) in a realistic setting to do realistic tasks they're clearly short.
Here's MacRumor's take on them. They pretty much come to the same conclusion - skip the Pixel Buds and if you want this kind of thing, then pick the AirPods. Now yes, it's MacRumors but they've recommended 3rd party above Apple in the past.
For myself I have a set of Jaybird BlueBuds X, the first version pre-Logitech, and use them with some Comply Foam ear tips. Sounds great, and for me whilst I've not actually owned any 'truly wireless' I feel I'd prefer the cord which I links the ear pieces together, purely so I can keep track of of them and not lose anything. Other people's preference my vary of course. -

Re:So fusion power in 20 years, right?
Well, the late Dr. Robert Bussard would have disagreed with you.
He goes into this with several questions in the Q&A section near the end of this talk at about 1:20. I watched the talk before and I'm pretty sure that he made mention of this earlier too, but I'm not going to watch the whole thing again to catch every mention.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?...He predicts the USA will fund, or even license, this research only after someone in China proves it works. I believe he was right.
Oh, and I'd think that he'd know what he was talking about. He worked for what was then called the Atomic Energy Commission. His last job, before he died, was in private industry trying to get the government to allow him to continue his research. He did as much research on fusion energy as the government would allow in his 50 year career, which wasn't much. If there was more research in the ten years or so since he died, outside of the tokamak, then the government has been real quiet about it.

"Order it to disarm the missiles" disorder
SUBTLE ORIGIN of "Order it to disarm the missiles disorder":
In the final moments of the movie War Games, the protagonist is engaged in a methodical side-channel attack. He successfully completes a step and at the first indication of success Top Brass takes over and issues a blatant over the top direct command, triggering an access alarm and risking total lockout.
HOW THIS APPLIES TO COMMUNITY INTERNET INITIATIVES:
Advocates engage in a methodical effort to provide community Internet access, overcoming on-ramp costs, equipment funding and line of sight terrain until a critical mass is achieved. On ribbon cutting day... as a band plays, a sedate ceremony is performed in which one's ability to load a Wikipedia page, access a Gopher server, check email and access the AP news wire is demonstrated. The current temperature and weather forecast is retrieved, which causes a murmur of excitement in the crowd and a round of applause.
"Order it to disarm the missiles!"
Everyone jumps onto Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Youtube... sets HD exceed-your-screen-resolution video 'on' and binge-watches 'Ow My Balls' type videos. The community network collapses in a shower of sparks, homework remains undone and a new generation of children dangles their useless account-disabled smartphones in front of cats, who play with them.

Re: Cue the Nazi snowflakes
(theory always loses to practice)
Which is why I'm not ruling out we go back to tribalism, feudalism, monarchies, imperialism, authoritarianism, etc. like how we practiced for THOUSANDS of years before the US was founded.
Corruption being bad is just a theory. In practice corruption is a part of the system (paraphrasing CGP grey - https://www.youtube.com/watch?...)
All real world flavors of Marxism contain a key unfixable flaw. Excessive concentration of power, which then corrupts. Game over.
That's not a flaw of Marxism. That's a flaw of power itself. Power has a nasty habit of concentrating itself, no matter how you try to design a system to keep it in check. The US Constitution was supposed to keep the government in check. The US now has that huge government that conservatives complain about to no end
In *theory* everybody would follow the Constitution and things would work fine. In *practice* they don't.
The friendly story itself is evidence that even a private company working in a capitalist mostly-free market will become corrupted if it gets a little bit of power (read: twitter got some power over who gets publicity on the Internet, now they're using that power to become gatekeepers)
Hey, I personally don't like those things of course, but I'm just saying if we take an objective look, then things don't look good for liberty and all that nice sounding platitudes.

Re:social engineering
So......there were only elections in 18 countries last year? Is that it?
Seriously, the only reason Trump is president is because he was better at social engineering than Clinton. And I have to hand it to Obama, he pushed that "Hope and Change" meme better than anyone before him ever has. It's all been done before, though.Strange you should mention that.
There are essentially only two ways to lead, all other ways end up being boiled down into these two very broad categories, you can lead through hope or you can lead through fear.
Obama tried to give the US hope when it was in dire need of it, and he succeeded spectacularly.
Trump tried to give the US fear when it least needed it, he succeeded and now the US is paying for it. -

Because of the idiotic First Past the Goal Post voting system which degenerates into a 2 party system.
The solution is to use an Alternative Vote system but the majority of Americans are too fucking stupid to:
a) understand the problem, and
b) do anything to fix the problem.so they end up with the "best" government money can buy!
Not quite. most countries use Instant Runoff Voting that deal with the issues of FPTP. The problem with the US isn't the FPTP system, its electoral councils and PAC's. What the US needs to do is: 1. Kill the electoral collage and go straight to direct voting. The most votes for congressional candidate John Jackson in the electorate of whatever, Ohio means that Jack Johnson wins it. The most votes for senatorial candidate Jack Johnson in Ohio means he wins and if you want to keep voting directly for your president the most votes for Steve Steveman in the federal election means he's president. This is closer to the French system than the Westminster system we have in the UK and commonwealth mainly because we dont vote directly for the PM/Prez. A federal leader who does not win the popular vote should not be win if you're voting direct for a leader, said leaders power should be limited and balanced by the senate and congress.
2. Kill PACs and limit lobbying. This includes capping party donations for both private individuals and organisations. In fact that should be the first thing done because it'll kill a lot of lobbying in itself.
2.a, limit political advertising and force the organisation who paid for it to be clearly stated at the end.
3. Implement instant runoff voting. -

Re:How do they figure it's cheaper than Rail
Here's a great video that explains a lot of the cost factors in rail:
tl;dr highlights
Staff - rail has more people involved (on train, at stations, maintenance)
Usage - trains have to accommodate peak usage, but spend a lot of time way below capacity.
Land acquisition - land has to be bought initially
Trains and carriages (or cargo trolleys) are expensive. -

Re:The moral of the story
No, they don't. That the troubling thing - all they care about now is attacking their political enemy. And they do this directly, but also indirectly by promoting an environment that is anathema to them, eg Islamification - the left and progressives will be hurt the most if Sharia law ever gets implemented, but they are the ones screeching the loudest to allow it to happen. Blindly setting an agenda of enablement for some truly horrific things to take place, with impunity.
Watch this, its a history of a UK guy who is vilified, here he talks about what drove him to become like he is. It isn't some innate racism that makes him hate extremists and decide to do something about it - it was that he saw the extremists committing crimes and the police and authorities basically looking the other way (for fear of being called racist themselves).
