This is exactly what ads on the Web feel like
Ads on the Web really feel like this.
Now imagine that stupid ad playing multiple times on top of the TV show you're trying to watch, including the audio. That's what the Web feels like with most ads.
Please note that I really don't mind the text-only or static image ads. But I despise the animated, dynamic, auto-playing video ads. Those things waste my bandwidth and my CPU cycles. It's also wasting the battery power of people using mobile devices.

Re:fire!
Nope, very easy in fact. Shredded paper is one of the best roof insulations you can get and it is treated with boric acid to make it fire retardant. Here is a link to someone hitting Cool or Cosy (a brand name version of shredded paper insulation) with a blow torch.

Re:Too late
A bit unrelated: I was just browsing your website (the one in your signature), and was noting that I couldn't watch the embedded youtube video (talking about this video). They are included as html object element and require flash to be played (which I don't have). Its better to support HTML5 as well by using a more modern embedding code via iframes. It will still offer a fallback for users who can't play back html5 videos, e.g. on outdated browsers. You can get the embed code by clicking "share" and then "embed".

Re:So what should we do?
This wasn't to change gear, this was to change drive modes. As I said I could be remembering it wrong but I'm sure it had park in the middle, press it down once and it went into neutral, press down again and it went into drive. Then you had to push up up up to get to reverse and I'm sure the level returned to the starting point every time.
Just looked for a youtube video - here https://www.youtube.com/watch?... The lever returns to the center every time.

Misleading headline.
When I read "The Sexual Misconduct Case That Has Rocked Anthropology" I was thinking that it would be something about neanderthals and apes having sex or whatever. Sexual misconduct among modern humans in positions of authority is still shocking?

Re: The science is not settled
We evolved from apes. The science is settled.
I think you just proved my point by quoting a fact that the science does not support. Humans did not evolve from apes or any currently living species of primate.
If by settled, you mean that no new evidence can ever arrive to replace those theories, then also false.
The Earth goes around the Sun. The science is settled. Anthropogenic Warming is happening. The science is settled.
The Earth goes around the Sun can be plainly observed. ONE OF THESE THINGS IS NOT LIKE THE OTHERS
Note that your description is not very precise though, which also tends to limit its usefulness in terms of making predictions.
Also, there is a great deal more reasonable doubt regarding Anthropogenic Warming. Both in the Science.... and see Stefan Molyneux on reasons to doubt the work-product of climate scientists. The problem is both accidental/unintentional and intentional political manipulation of the outcome of Scientific results on a broad scale.
And, we as a civilization have need for much more truly independent work on the subject of environmental issues, with no incentives or disincentives (including fame/popularity) of scientists to come up with specific answers........

Re:If only
Probably; it's pretty easy to pick out differences in intonation/cadence/etc. if you've ever heard two different breeds of dog try to howl at the same time. Of course, then there's 'husky bitching', which as far as I've seen is unique to that breed. At least, I have yet to encounter another breed of dog that will sit down and start grumble-barking a soliloquy for no apparent reason and for minutes on end...
This was the best husky howl I could find on youstube, and it's not that good. https://www.youtube.com/watch?...
Dogs really enjoy howling. I used to have a bunch of strays, and I lived near a fire station. When the truck would pass by with the sirens blaring, the dogs would all respond, and they loved it! I'm guessing there's an instinctive enjoyment in communication activity. Maybe it's something like human singing.
I played this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?... for the 2 mutts currently in my charge. They do seem like they are trying to figer out what is being said.

Re:I don't think it's being abused
The article says that so long as they pay the prevailing wage ($60k/yr in Connecticut, which IIRC is a pricey place to live) they can now legally replace you. Not sure when that changed (probably shortly after the pro-Corporate Republicans took the Senate) but assuming the article isn't lying there's no abuse. It's all nice and legal.
Well I always thought (Thank you, Schoolhouse Rock!) that after Congress and the Senate get through drafting some bill or some such, there's this guy who has to sign it or veto it.
Don't you think he has to bear some of the responsibility as well?

Same with pretty much all other aircraft; if your engine fails right after takeoff in a regular plane you're bound to crash just as hard, if not harder.
Autogyro (engine off) landings are a routine maneuver for heli pilots, see a.o. https://www.youtube.com/watch?... (search "helicopter landing without engine" on youtube for thousands of results).

PUH-LEASE!
Air-Methanol has the same problems as Air-Plastic:
1. The amount (by volume) of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is so small, one cannot extract it in any feasible way. Think removing pee from the ocean. At 400ppm, you have to process 1000 tons of air to extract less than half a ton of carbon dioxide.
2. It takes at least as much energy to reverse combustion as you get when you burn something. There is no free ride; where is the energy coming from?
Add in the energy of processing large quantities of air and the inefficiency of extracting carbon dioxide from the air to get a process that is circling the drain from day 1.
Even if you magically made the problems go away, what do you do with the methanol? Burn it as a fuel and put the carbon dioxide right back into the atmosphere. Sequester it somewhere so that the carbon dioxide never finds it's way back into the atmosphere. Sounds like a lose-lose to me.
Wake up sheeple! If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. These 'scientific hucksters' are peddling B.S. and dressing it up as science. We've seen things like Solar Roadways and Back to the Future style magnetic hoverboards; and now, yet another 'Extract Carbon Dioxide from the Air' scam.
Real scientists know about things like conservation of energy and laws of thermodynamics. If it were that easy to put the carbon dioxide genie back in the bottle...

Re:Unearned Platforms Given to Moral Guardians
So let's think about this for a moment. Say you're "profile" is entirely dependent on how much harassment you get. If you didn't get any then you're a nobody everyone ignores, but if you get harassed it means talk shows, donations, UN hearings, etc.
IF that was the case, would you not play up the harassment you get? Keep in mind Anita was "being harassed" long before GamerGate was even a thing. GamerGate, made popular by the media it accused of being corrupt, simply gave her something, besides rando internet trolls we all deal with, to point a finger at. The only reason GamerGate keeps going is because people can't just let it go. It's gotten to a point where some people financially depend on it harassing them in order to keep patron donations coming in.
If you'd like to see it go away, then stop blaming everything on in.
And Anita isn't a critic, she's not a consumer of the medium and has no interest in improving it. She's not on the side of "gamers", she's an outside party that doesn't like people doing things she disapproves of. Ok, well she doesn't like people doing things Jonathan McIntosh disapproves of, she's just the mouth piece because no one would take McIntosh seriously as a feminist without a female to use as a shield for ACTUAL criticism of his ideas.
With her it's easy to shift the focus of, "Man, that guy's an idiot" to "STOP ATTACKING WOMEN!!", seriously go see how well his "25 Invisible Benefits of Gaming While Male" was received. The response videos are hilarious, and note all of the response videos I linked are from actual female gamers. -

Re:Unearned Platforms Given to Moral Guardians
I wish people would watch Sarkeesian's videos (or read the transcripts) before making assumptions about what she says.
You mean the part where she says that "everything is sexist, everything is racist, everything is homophobic" or the part where she starts whining because it doesn't cater to her political ideology and she gets upset over it and goes running to the UN?
Yeah, she's no different then Jack Thompson...except for her gender. Which get's her a free pass where any criticism is labeled has harassment.
Note that she doesn't need to offer "proof" for her opinion that portraying women (and men) better in games is the right thing to do. She is a feminist, her position is backed up by decades of feminist theory, and you can debate it all you like. She isn't making a falsifiable hypothesis, she is stating an opinion based on a large body of widely accepted philosophical work.
No, she needs to offer proof. The second she claimed she wanted to make the series to be included in the classroom and for educational purpose. And the second she decided that she wanted to go speak before crowds. She's wants to spew her stuff, but doesn't want anyone to turn around and call her out on her bullshit.
