Profile of a Hard-Core Gamer
brettlbecker writes "The NYTimes is running a story on Richard L. Stenlund, or, as players of MMORPG Anarchy Online undoubtedly know him, Thedeacon. Quote from the article: "Thedeacon is a celebrity. Mr. Stenlund, meanwhile, feels trapped - trapped in a town too far from big cities where big things happen, trapped in a hand-to-mouth existence, trapped in a mean little culture of cheap thrills and fast-food television." Infamy, perversion, bankruptcy, virtual protests, online counseling. How much do *you* accomplish in 7 hours a day?"
fuck all slashdot faggots
Tell this to me Captin Jello! I got the Hook to replace my hand loss from Playing Vidio Games. And I lost an Eye from it too. Arr!
If something is so important that you feel the need to post it on the internet... It probably isn't that important.

though I imagine in this guy's situation, it was a welcome refuge. Especially since he wasn't doing well financially.
I'm the big fish in the big pond bitch.
Ok, between NYTimes profiling an obsessed computer gamer and national coverage of idiot Wisconsinites getting Monkey pox from infected prairie dogs.
Seriously. We make the news for some of the WORST things. You'd think that we were an ass backwards state.
Oh wait...
I have NO money.
I have $70,000 debt.
I owe my mom money.
I owe my dad money.
Nothing I have is paid for.
I was raised on the false notion that if I tried really hard and graduated that I'd find gainful employment.
God spoke to me
Cats are truly a pathetic animal.
I still get a kick every time I see this topic icon on slashdot... Tellah and that spoony bard! hahah
How about replying instead of moderating? Not being an AO-expert myself can't see how the parent is flamebait, though it may well be. Would have been much more sensible to reply why you think he's wrong, rather than moderate.
