  1. This isn't a Rockstar game. on Rockstar Plays it Safe · · Score: 4, Informative

The blurb is correct, the headline isn't. While Take-Two owns both Rockstar and 2K games, they're two different dev studios. Rockstar has nothing to do with this game.

  2. Just a quick note on MySpace Users Revolt Against Murdoch · · Score: 2, Informative

Rupert Murdoch's company is actually called News Corperation, not News International.

  3. Rightfully So on Real Worried About Apple Lawsuits · · Score: 1, Interesting

It seems to me that now that apple's getting a real taste of success and getting more and more attention from people who normally wouldn't give a shit that now they're determined to hold onto it as hard as they can, and frivilous lawsutis seem to be one of their methods. Nor do i think that Real has a chance with this - it's APPLE's mp3 player, they reserve teh right to control what technology one can play on it. I'm all for real on this one, but i think they may be getting in over their heads.

  4. Hey.. on Who Wants a 3D Scanner, Anyway? · · Score: 1

Why do people automatically think of Iraq when GWB is mentioned, when his economic policy is just as heinous? Oh, because the war was the distraction FROM the economic policy, which was where all the financial benefit was happening. The above is case in point.

I can see his response clearly.

"I once used the American people to push my and my friends' own financial objectives! LAWL!"

  8. Probably won't make a difference on Halo 3 In the Works, Set To Crush PS3 Launch? · · Score: 5, Insightful

The way i see people buy video games and consoles these days, gamers will simply rejoyce and buy both the PS3 and Halo 3 together. After all, they were going to get both of them eventually, same release date or not.

  9. Ha on Ubisoft Developing Next America's Army Game · · Score: 0, Troll

The same goes for quality, too.

  10. Hey wait... on Matrix Online Voice Talent Locked In · · Score: 3, Insightful

Where'd Keanu Reeves? I don't remember him doing any voice acting in any matrix franchises, which is interesting. Perhaps the level of tolerance required for him to be taken seriously is too high when his voice is transferred to a video game.

Oh well. Hopefully TMO will still be 'most excellent' without him.

  11. I kinda thought we already knew this... on Earth Tides Trigger Earthquakes · · Score: 3, Interesting

I must've learned in elementary school that earthquakes are caused by shifting plates of rock and earth below us...it seems a natural assumption to say that the power of the tides would have a great effect on moving said plates along. But i guess they needed some scientific proof.

Can anyone elaborate on my vaugeness, or make sense of what i'm talking about?

  12. I wonder what it was designed for on Phones App Shows Political Leanings By Location · · Score: 3, Funny

You have to wonder what exactly people have in mind when they make these things - though this is a cool little app.

Now i can do a quick check to find out whether it's safe for me to make loudmouthed comments about abortion and gay marriage in a public place, or where i should start handing out pins. It's certainly cheaper then getting run out of town or punched in the face.

  13. I Still don't think it's worth it on Upgrade Doubles +R Speed For Some Lite-On Drives · · Score: 2, Interesting

While the speeds are finally getting there, i think i'll hold off a little further on buying a DVD-RW. I'm also a little angry about the supposed 'dual-layer' capability - regular dual layer discs are 9.6 gb, not 8.5!

  14. This means big changes in the world of dogs on Woof! Dog Genome Assembled · · Score: 1, Funny

Dog liscences will now be under the GPL. Breeds will be reffered to from this point forward as Distros. Microsoft will build a grossly ineffiecent one, but will show everyone how it looks really pretty and doesn't bite, and everyone will buy that dog instead of decent dogs.

I wonder how long it is before a joint effort by animal rights owners and fanatical christians start complaining about whether man understanding this much of Dog is morally right.

  15. Re:That makes sense. MMORPGs cost too much. on Japanese Not That Interested In Online Videogaming? · · Score: 1

Probably because there are so many Americans who love to blindly shell out cash for entertainment. America loves to be amused. And it does sure seem like more and more MMO's are released each year, many of them low quality and repetitive. I don't understand how game companies expect make a profit off of MMO's anyway, as they're so time consuming it's difficult for most to juggle more then two at once (aside from the mounting subscription fees) unless it's a sure hit - with this extra payment involved, a gamer's less likely to purchase a game they're not sure they'll enjoy; and they'll definitely not keep the subscription if they don't want it! In regards to online gaming as a whole, i agree that prices do need to go down. As it is, you pay an exorbant amount for broadband access monthly as it is, you don't need an equally large sum of subscriptions to online services on top of it.

  16. My Own Impression on First Java AP Computer Science Exam Complete · · Score: 1

Firstly, the entire AP process is terrifying, because they relaly want to make sure that the test questions do not escape into the free world, because apparently it would throw everything into chaos. The tests are sealed, and requisite you to sign on the front that you took it on the exact date and time, and that you promise not to take the test from the room, as if we'd try, the guy running it was a nut.

As for the test itself, it was fairly easy. The trickiest parts were the involved code questions about midway through the multiple choice, but we had plenty of scrap paper to work everything out. 40 multiple choice and 4 short answer, by the way. The short answer were very simple, and the only thing i had to wrack my brain for was remembering if casting a double as an int would throw and Arithmatic Exception for loss of precision.

Otherwise, smooth sailing. One last thing i'd like to note, though, there was a question regarding hexidecimal on the test. It said, 100hex - 10hex = ?dec, and while i knew the answer, it seemed out of left field, and my computer teacher verified that it was not part of the subset. Does anyone know anything about this?

  17. Wasn't a fan of the first on Metroid Prime 2 - Echoes Shows Multiplayer Action For GameCube · · Score: 0, Flamebait

I've been playing Metroid games since the very beginning, and in all honesty, i was disapointed by Metroid Prime, which just seemed too slow to me. It is best described as "walk through hallway. Shoot door. Walk through door. Shoot enemy. Repeat." These new features for the sequel sound promising, and of course the graphics are astounding, but this time i'll be sure to rent it before buying

  18. It's Just EGM on Are Game Magazines Turning Into Men's Magazines? · · Score: 4, Interesting

Electronic Gaming Monthly did a poll at least two years ago to find their target audience, and found that it was males between the ages of 17-25 or something like that. They conciously made the move to a more male/sexually-oriented format, and actually told their readers about this. Inspection of other gaming mags will show you that they're not all made this way. Like the first person to comment, they're just knowing their audience. 12 year olds read happy Nintendo Power, and big boys who like their nudity read EGM. It doesn't have much to do with games at all.

However, DOA:X is a good illustration of how the gaming market <i>is</i> becoming more sexually oriented. Mmmm....decline of society...
