Impressive Half Life 2 Case Mod
risinganger writes "Well it didn't take somebody too long to get all enthused over Half-Life 2 (hardly surprising?) and so they have decided to present their lovingly created case mod based on the game. " Very cool looking fake rust thing.
He only made the case mod 9 months ago and it's already on the front page

The date of its construction aside, I wish I had not only the skill and equipment required to do something like this, but the creative ability to even know where to begin!
He made a much newer one on Valve's request since. Way to go TACO! http://www.bit-tech.net/article/146/ http://games.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=04/11/08/ 1438215&tid=222&tid=10
I took my Half Life 1 case, removed all the interesting content inside and covered it in bauble and visual enhancements.

Does it make his computer call home for authorization before it works?
...so it's an old link, but he's added a new addition to celebrate the release of HL2 - the case has a new motor built in that randomly vibrates the case, causing it so shudder and shake at intervals throughout the game. Now that's the real HL experience :)

SUPAH-DUPE!
He underestimates the carelessness of /. editors.
Maybe it's just me, but it looks more inspired from Fallout, than HL2 (other than the huge logo, of course). Especially the front buttons, rust, and yellow/black warning lines.
It isn't slashdotted. It's a hobby page. Something is very very wrong here.

Apparently this cosmetic tarting-up of one individual PC matters so much that it has been on the front page of Slashdot three times.

Most often the are cool at the most.
But here the design in the game has been transferred to the casing. When I looked at the green water in the glass, I thought, "I hope it serves as cooling also". And it did.
Very nicely done.
