Nintendo World Store to Open This Weekend
LordJezo writes "The New York Times is reporting that the Nintendo World Store is set to open this Saturday (May 14th) in Rockefeller Plaza in New York City. Set to be a 10,000 square-foot Nintendo store visitors are promised exclusive Nintendo merchandise and the ability to test out the latest and greatest Nintendo products.IGN is also reporting that the grand opening party will include 'game kiosks, giveaways and gaming competitions, and even the chance to play against a celebrity'." Because nothing says legitimate like Kid Rocking playing Metroid.
I wanna go so bad!!!
...If you dont live near New York City, you're fucked!
No really cool games, unless you count dumbed-down disney-quality children's games

Yes, Resident Evil 4 is a crappy kids game:
it's not enough to call Resident Evil 4 one of the high points of the series, because this is probably the single greatest horror-themed action game ever created. Resident Evil 4 is an amazing achievement in a variety of ways, especially in how its inspired, state-of-the-art cinematic presentation works so well with its relentlessly exciting, white-knuckle action, all of which is wrapped up in a decidedly lengthy adventure chock-full of hidden secrets and bonus extras. It obviously isn't for the squeamish or for those otherwise not qualified to play this gory, mature-rated GameCube game, which is too bad for them, because it's hard to imagine anyone else not being consistently thrilled and impressed by what Resident Evil 4 has to offer. And yes, let's totally forget about Metroid Prime 1 & 2 -- the Gamecube is an Easy Bake Oven, after all...

Why the hell is in NY, should have been SF or LA. I want GT4 on my GC.
Um...no.
His name is Kid Rock. There's no such person as Kid Rocking.
I know that he's from the area around my hometown and all, but I still think that that one shouldn't have gotten through. First time I've ever been compelled to correct the editors, so yo should be ashamed of yourselves. :)
Goo goo g'joob.
Bonus ponits for using googlemaps to show the location ;)
Actually, yes it was flamebait.

how long will it be before this store closes? It just doesn't seem viable to me to operate such a large store at the location they are shooting for. Granted if all they are looking for is a place to showcase all things Nintendo, why not build a museum and offer a giftshop?
One of the first great games for the Cube was Eternal Darkness, so it's not like RE4 just swooped in during these latter years to show a darker side.
It actually opened up today,b tu the event isn't until Saturday. I work in Rockefeller Center, so I took a stroll through it this afternoon.
It's pretty cool. There are TONS of stations set up to play Gamecube, DS, and SP games. There's an area set up on the first floor with a round table and a bunch of DS's so people can easily play wirelessly with eachother. There are also SPs and DSes hooked up to monitors to play (the DSes have two). Then there are there uber surround sound chairs with large screens for Gamecubes, as well as E3-boot like Gamecubes hooked up to LCD screens.
Lots of Pokemon stuff of course, and a large accessory section.
The Nintendo museum thing is all right, but it's not very big. It's itneresting to look back at old NES hardware, though, especially the Japanese-only accessories like the keyboard.
It's worth stopping in if you're in the area, but it's not worth planning some big road trip to go see.

No, it's definately flamebait. let me demonstrate why.
Granted, I've never been a fan of consoles and am out of the loop a bit, but does anyone actually have a Nintendo anymore? I mean, no network/internet connection.
Gamecube has both broadband and dial-up adaptors available. My cube has the broadband adaptor installed.
No internet based multiplay.
I used to play PSO Episodes 1, 2, and 3 online quite a bit and I am really looking forward to homeland. Incase you don't know it's a RPG supporting 32 players at a time with one player taking the role of God and deciding what happens in the game.
No really cool games, unless you count dumbed-down disney-quality children's games based on Mario and Kirby,
If by cool games you mean rate T or M there are lots. Possibly more than there are rated E. If by cool you mean fun the system is filled with them.
mediocre graphics,
They are better than what is displayed on PS2 99% of the time and depending on the programmer Nearly as good as or better than the Xbox. Ati bought the company that designed the Gamecube graphics chip for good reason.
a dopey looking presentation...
It's called Gamecube. It plays games. With the GBA player attached it's a cube. How is that a dopey presentation?
Nintendo seems to be the Easy Bake Oven of the console world.
You mean made fun of by lots of people even though they have been around for years and make more cash in a day than you will see in your entire lifetime?
See, this isn't a matter of disagreeing. It's a matter of him telling lies and trying to get people worked up. flamebaiting/trolling. take your pick.
Is this the second store they're opening in Rockefeller Plaza? I hadn't heard anything about the Pokemon Center closing down, but I'd be really suprised to hear they started another store completely devoted to themselves in NYC (in the same area).
Every day Nintendo starts to seem more and more like the new Apple.
I remember having a Captron World of Nintendo store in my local mall... got to see such things as the Game Boy and the Power Glove!
test
Hahaha. You're funny.
