BlizzCon Cometh

Via Blues, the news that Blizzard will be hosting a games convention. The event, scheduled for October 28th and 29th, is intended to celebrate all three of the Blizzard franchises (Diablo, Starcraft, and Warcraft). From the announcement: "Attendees can look forward to a variety of events, including participating in question and answer panels with the developers of World of Warcraft® and StarCraft: Ghost(TM), playing Blizzard games live with friends, and watching the world's best Warcraft III and StarCraft pro-gamers compete in the BlizzCon Invitational tournament."

      The video spread like wildfire throughout the WoW community about a month ago, and it's been leaking into online communities everywhere since then. Even if you don't play WoW, the video is worth seeing.

      absolutely...Leeroy should be there. Even though the video is an obvious fake...I mean, even when they ran into the rookery THEY were the ones running around hitting every egg they could step on spawning even more dragonlings. Also, the anger everyone had for Leeroy running in like that is totally out of whack..I mean, it's what, a 5 minute run back to your corpse? It's not like you lost anything.

      Also, if some idiot ran in there by himself, you can bet all of us would just sit back and watch him die...being perfectly safe out in the hall. Also, what was with the "let me crunch some numbers here...I give us a 33% chance"...not even an UBER nerd would do something like that. I mean, come on...

      There are plenty of good servers on battle.net Especially now since it's not as popular and useast is not connected to uswest. At the time exodus and att tried to sync up then it was bad...

      I dont think Blizzard actually really cares. It's probably just their lawyers, or more likely Vivendi's lawyers, who see someone to sue and jump at the chance. Then they convice their clients to put up with the trouble by saying "It's going to make us a lot of money!"

    Blizzard should be weary about what they're getting into, but regardless I hope wherever it's being held has enough strollers and acne cream stations.

    Is it even possible to get that game any more?

    I have wanted to try it for years but have not found a copy for sale anywhere (ebay maybe, but I don't like ebay).

      You can still get it stand-alone at Wal-Mart or Target in their $10 game sections. Or the box set with Broodcraft, an expansion module for it, for $20.

      Why? They just did another patch of warlock-love. Warlocks were already a bitch to kill, and they actually buffed the talent tree that made them next to unkillable. They're going to be PvP gods in 1.6.

      Paladins have only been nerfed. If you're having problems with your warlock, just roll up a new class. You're sunk.

      Paladins were described as a "holy warrior" but have slowly become a secondary healer. WTF?

      Paladins are essentially a poor version of a priest that's harder to kill. They can't tank, they can't deal damage, and they can't heal as well as any other class with healing abilities.

      (Hell, warlocks have a better healing spell than paladins! That's just wrong.)

    I just canceled my subscription yesterday though. It wasn't the poor game balance that did me in, though it helped! It was the absolutely terrible customer service.

      Yep, I cancelled mine as well. I'm sick of the poor game balance, on top of the poorly implemented battlegrounds, on top of the timesink/forced grouping that the endgame is.

    Even SHAMANS can outfight a paladin!! Paladins are supposed to be HOLY warriors! NOTHING is supposed to be a better fighter than a paladin!

    But a -shaman- ie WITCHDOCTOR, someone who has NO real training in arms, can kick his ass in a sword fight? Tell me that isn't just WRONG!!

    (And no, I never played a paly, I'm not that stupid!)

    The "we" you refer to is a small niche. Most slashdotters don't care. If the game is fun they play it. Don't fall into the trap where you assume everyone, or even an majority, or even a non-trivial number of people, share your opinion(s). They don't.

    That said, go play whatever game makes you happy for whatever reasons you have, and let the rest of us do the same without your nagging. Thanks.
