They actually have an arc in the comic about this - basically Doc Ock is falling apart because of all the pummeling he's taken over the years since he's basically a normal person. He's in a little cocoon type thing where he can't move and his arms do everything.
He tries to take over the world, etc etc., spider-man screws it up, etc.
Semi-interesting arc.
The numbers don't actually mean anything without something to compare them to. How much money would they have made from the same number of records sold if they went through a label with the best contract they could have gotten? And would the additional press and airplay received (for this CD, because of the media attention I doubt it, but still) increased those sales?
Without knowing how improved it was over a label release, it's a bit unclear how much better they did.
This is actually old news, and companies already have clinical trials going utilizing adult bone marrow stem cells in this capacity. Look into any big, bone marrow stem cell company and you can find information on whats going on.
Duke Nukem, in its development, has become so amazing that it can't be released lest it spawn a new religion or flat out kill people because their brains cannot handle the incredibleness of the game.
I was looking into doing research into these and DNA computer systems when I first started looking into going to grad school a few years back. Essentially, things are still (after 5 years) only at the very basic levels. Work in vitro (outside the body, in a tube) isn't at the 'fully functional' level yet and until you can make a progammable style 'computer' that works in a tube...it's simply not ready to be put into a person where one error in genetic code could result in life threatening consequences.
And, once there...removal may be fairly difficult if something does go wrong. All in all...decades and decades away.
Another idea would be that these cells don't stick around for the entire life, as is suggested, but instead amplify healing, repair, and immune response immediately after a baby is born.
Some horrendous damage can/is done to the mother's body during child bearing and birth, so it would make sense (fitness wise) if the cells helped the mother get back to baby-birthing health as fast as possible...
Interesting if it could be turned into a therapy for widespread/non baby-having use.
The compound 'is highly effective at clinically relevant concentrations against a broad spectrum of bacterial infections, including multi-drug resistant organisms such as Pseudomonas, MRSA and VRSA. The compounds are polyfunctional and have activity not just against bacteria, but are also active against certain fungi (Candida), viruses (orthopox family) and many cancers as all these cells share in common the presence of negatively-charged phospholipids on the cell membrane surfaces.'
So, it could work against certain pathogens, similar to the way antibiotics work against specific pathogens. Interesting, but a LOT of work will have to be done before these ever get into people on any level.

We must ask that you please discontinue this 'game' that you play with others, as it is causing rampant problems discussing our copyrighted material. Your discussions of music and movies is directly causing the piracy of millions of dollars worth of copyrighted material and we will be forced to take action if you do not discontinue this blatant disregard for the law.
As you can find in Paragraph 2, Subsection 85, Section XVIXIV, this is well within our right under the DMCA.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

A friends father is one of the regional VP's for Pepsi (in the philly area) and we got about...12 cases of the stuff to bring to college with us when we started our freshman year.
Yeah, it didn't go over well at all. Basically, it was good for caffeine and not much else.
Actually, Tulane is cutting a ton of programs because of the hurricane and the fact that they spent nearly all of their reserves repairing to be able to open next year.
So...where in that post does it mention speeding up enzyme reaction rates? It's nice to post a portion of a paper, a large heaping chunk, but just presenting confusing information to people really isn't going to help your mpoint.
For anyone that isn't hardcore into screwing around with their PVR to get it working, GB-PVR isn't for them. SageTV and BeyondTV provide similar to better functionality all built into the software and do not rely on third part plugins for the majority of their basic PVR functionality.
Also, there's next to no documentation for GB-PVR, and it doesn't seem like it's getting created anytime soon.
For overall ease of use, I'd suggest just using MediaPortal (although unstable) or SageTV. MediaPortal is nice looking (hopefully the stability will get better, fast) and SageTV is just nice to use and doesn't require you to use the PC at all. It will work as a stand alone/control from remote system once you get it going.
I'm setting up a PVR currently. MediaPortal is unstable. Highly unstable. It crashes all over the place and doesn't really have a decent recovery mechanism.
Looks amazing though.

Actually, the CIA was connected to Abu Ghraib in 2004. Stop watching so much FOX News ;).
Destruction of tapes. Classic!

Oh god...eyes bleeding. WTF?!?!?! Can someone translate crazy for me so this makes some semblence of sense?
The Marco Polo story is a myth. (I watch way too much Food Network...)

I thought it was "You spin me right round, baby, right round, like a record, baby, right round, Ground Round." Never did understand it.

They're bringing back Micro-machines now too? Great! I loved those things...will the fast talking guy be back also?

Especially when you start off like so arrogantly.
Good god man...MOUSELOOK is old school? People are getting nostalgic over mouselook and PC-FPS's?
Oh lord....I've officially hit 'older then gaming dirt'.
Guess I better start playing Hearts and Mahjongg.
I hate you guys. Just shut your dirty mouths.
Oh, ok. That means it must be important. Clarification of WHY it's important isn't needed I guess.
He gets melted down to slag?
