You could find most everything on thottbot already thanks to beta testers, but being told where something is and then finding it is a big big difference from having a bot holding your hand every step of the way. There's very few sections of Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor that I didn't become quite familiar with.

This, quite frankly, is exactly the kind of behavior and attitude that causes the majority of traffic accidents in the US.

Now, I'm not afraid to admit, I drive fast sometimes. But I always try to pay attention and be aware of my surroundings, whether I'm driving slow or fast. The few times I've been caught speeding it's been because I was too intent on watching my surroundings and didn't have my eyes glued to my speedometer (in fact, that's the main reason I hate speed limits - because watching the speedometer to make sure you're not speeding is way too distracting). Frankly, what we really need is a whole lot less emphasis on (mostly) irrelevant things like driving speed, and a lot more emphasis on things like paying attention (Is it safe to slam on your breaks for the dog that ran out in front of you, or is the guy behind you going to rear-end you if you do? Did you even KNOW there was a guy behind you??) and driving *with* the other drivers on the road (hint: driving 5 under the speed limit when everyone else is doing 10 over is more dangerous than if everyone were doing 20 over). I'll also be quick to admit there were times I wasn't paying attention and nearly caused an accident. Each one is a learning experience. I rarely listen to music or do much of anything besides drive on the road now, because it's just too distracting. Even at just 50MPH, things happen so fast that even just a couple seconds of inattention can result in someone's death.

Ok, if we *are* going to call the violation of rights "theft", the only thing really being stolen is the public's right to the use and sharing of information.

See, copyright is actually an agreement between the public and the producer of said copyrighted work. The public agrees to give the producer the privilege to be the only one to distribute said work for a specified, short-term duration. Back when things took days and weeks to print, and months or years to distribute, a copyright duration of 14+14 years made sense. Now, things can be produced in minutes, distributed in hours, and the costs for all of the above have gone down by several orders of magnitude. So we... increase copyright duration?? Sorry, that's backwards. Given the advancements that have been made in production and distribution times and costs, copyright duration now should be what, about 2+2 years at most? And that is what the public is rebelling against. Yes, rights are certainly being violated, but those rights are not the rights of the content producers.

Plus you can use your EZPass all over the east coast.

That's great, for people who live in those states. Until we have a national system though, we will continue to need toll booths and continue to have drivers using them.

That's the whole point of the electoral college - so neither the heavily populated areas or the rural areas get to "dictate policy". If we used a straight majority of the popular vote wins system, then the heavily populated areas would always carry the vote and "dictate policy". This is the essence of what makes the USA the United States. It's not a democracy, it's a republic. The reason this matters is because we as humans are fairly easily swayed to think a certain way by our peers. There's a huge percentage of the population that will think (and vote) a certain way, merely because everyone around them thinks and votes that way. So what happens when the people in the big cities are thinking and voting in a way that is going to be worse for the country as a whole? And even if it's not necessarily a "good or bad", "better or worse" decision, there's still no reason that the group-think in those areas should be given preferential treatment over the group-think in other less-populated areas.

He actually has a good point for once. The Civil War really is a case of "history being written by the victors". However, if you do a lot of digging, you can find some things out there that give you a little more perspective on what really happened. Yes, there was a problem with slavery. However, the way the northern states went about getting rid of it was completely wrong. It probably made things worse for everyone (at least short-term) including the slaves than if they'd done nothing. However, something had to be done, and long term, I'd say the slaves and their descendants are better off now than they would have been, but the country as a whole could be in much better shape if it had been dealt with better at the time. The key point though is that because the north dealt with it poorly, they forced the southern states into a position where they could see no solution other than secession, which (as parent pointed out) is what the war was really about. Slavery was the hot-button issue that catalyzed it. Or in other words, the war could probably have been avoided by dealing with slavery in a good way, and we probably would not still be dealing with racism issues now.

That's a very silly argument. But then, the whole discussion at this point is mostly silly. We don't have anywhere near the necessary data to prove or disprove either evolution or intelligent design. The problem though is that intelligent design can *never* be proved or disproved. Why? Because intelligent design assumes an all-powerful creator that has designed all kinds of intricate systems and things to very exact specifications. But if this designer/creator can do that... he/she can literally do *anything*... including building everything to look and behave exactly as though it had came about by evolution. In fact, if a being with such power exists, he could even continuously change anything and everything (including our own memories). It's a scary thought. And that ultimately I believe is why people are so polarized on the issue.
