I have a Z3 Compact with TWRP and root, which I rooted by downgrading the kernel, using an exploit and then upgrading the kernel again. That gave me TWRP with a locked bootloader.

If you insist on using a TI you can download plenty of TI emulators; TI distributes the ROM's that they use themselves (and otherwise they can be found on many indy sites).
And schools are the only thing that keeps the TI calculator division alive. I still have some calculators in cold storage, including the Casio Fx-9000G I bought at my first year in university, but I now use the far more advanced software available on my phone as calculator. Far more powerfull and flexible.

Otherwise it will be difficult to continue the process. Once I know the company I can look up its phone number before I leave and call them when I'm stuck in a traffic jam.
