The US is founded bij religious extremists (the "founding fathers") who couldn't stand the relative freedom other religions had in Europe at the time. They are still a backwater country in that respect. I hope the US will have their own enlightment within the next few centuries.

So what? Even if it were true, I'd like to quote Richard Feynman: "Physics is like sex: sure, it may give some practical results, but that's not why we do it.".
The critique is on the warlike culture in the US, not on the past slavery. Slavery is outdated anyway, modern capitalists concluded long ago that it is much cheaper to pay their workers a little and let them care for themselves and let them compete with each other. Slaves are expensive property that has to be kept alive and fed and healthy to be productive. Free-market workers are easily replaced.
They can leven Seoul with classic artillery, no need for nukes there. However, if they develop long range missles, the nukes are usefull as defense weapons, should some US president decide it's time for another regime change. They wouold still loose of course, but I doubt the US would tke the rist that one or two of their larger cities are getting nuked in the process.
I live in The Netherlands. Yes, we pay more tax than in the US, but we do get something in return for it, not just an overblown military sector or roads and bridges that are falling apart due to lack of maintenance (reminds me of the former USSR, no mainetance is often a sure sign of an empire in decline).
Government-run universities may be of low quality in the US, but our universities are top notch. Perhaps MIT or Caltech are even better, but the general level is high. And of course some students will "waste their time" on a study that is not directly usefull, or will fail to graduate. That's the risk of an investment in education. However, that risk is quite small and the large picture is largely positive. Besides, if you have not passed all your 1st year exams after 2 years the student loan is stopped anyway. That weeds out most of the students that are incapable of succeeding.
Fortunately in the country I live, the state offers student loans with low rents (something entirely against the US ideology that the private sector has to do everything). If you can't it pay back in 15 years (minimum payback amount depends on your income) you don't have to pay back the restant. It is considered an investment in a highly educated population, which is itself good for the economy. Add to that that university here is much cheaper than in the US (college money is about 2000 euro's per year, plus costs of books etc.) so the amounts you need to loan are much lower as well. You can borrow money from a bank for your study if you wish of course, but since there is no demand for such loans because the state loans are cheaper they are not even offered.
This causes that almost anyone with the capacity and willingness to do so can get a batchelor and master degree independent of the income of their parents. We don't need H1B imports.
> As far as the social, chatty apps, I really doubt that WhatsApp has anywhere close to a monopoly.
It certainly has in large parts of Europe and South America. It was the first usable replacement of sms, which was kept very expensive in some countries by the telco's. In The Netherlands, all others are insignificant compared to Whatsapp. There, the largest telco wanted at one time to introduce a special more expensive data contract that allowed one to use Whatsapp and the like (it would be blocked on other contracts, forcing them to use expensive sms). It resulted in having strict net neutrality laws getting passed very quickly after the public outcry.
Nerds getting outside and walking large distances is just not natural: we need to be behind our monitors, inside. However the normal situation is restoring itself. When autumn comes with lots of rain numbers will drop even more.
in a country where "socialism" is considered an insult? You get cowboy capitalism. As long as the American people keep voting for leaders who are economical extremists in this regard it's their own fault.
The current coup junta in Ukraine may be strongarmed into poisoning their population while using fracking gas winning by US companies, and being forced to produce Monsanto food to push it on the EU market who doesn't want it. In short, they are an ally of the US big corporations.
I prefer not this kind of automation because it will eventually be forced uppon everyone (except the very rich), remove freedom (you have to plan each drive beforehand) and increase mass surveillance.
I have no problems with video calling between Android and iOS: Viber and BBM both can do it. Skype too, but Skype refuses to connect to my wifi because I once had a Tor exit node running at home. They apparently hate anonymous communication.
Facetime works only to other iOS device users, not to Android users. As for other platforms: I would expect a Symbian version before a win mobile version, just to rub the failure of windows mobile to MS.

Hillary: "I AM THE SENATE!" (pulls red lightsaber).
Al of the wars she is going to start...

Icelandic vulcanos produce more but thei don't count that. They can't do much about that either.
Perhaps it's just a trick: Obama: I wanted to ratify but the evil congress didn't let me.
Trump, our savior!
Only 30? Her wars in the middle east have lead to many thousands of killed people.
They have: Tox?
I hope not, because then they would also demand it to be vulnerable to lawfull interception.

End of slavery? Only in the west II believe: niggers are still holding other niggers as slaves: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...
As usual, adblocking would have helped here. Encryption is not the answer, adblocking is!

Imaginary property can't be stolen, only copied. If they stole it, somehow Oracle would not be able to use Java anymore, which I doubt very much.
