I recently purchased the special edition 96 meg version of RIO and I love the damn thing. Never skips. Batteries last forever. It does NOT take forever to download music to it. I can fill 96meg in under 5 minutes.
I think the real gripe you fellas have with RIO is that its not Linux compatible. Hell, its not even NT compatible. 95 and 98 only.

I like Java. I like IDEs. I HATE Visual Age. Its repository system and proprietary resource files make any project nightmare. I'm currently stuck using it for a project and I'm ready to slit my throat. The support sucks. The help is useless. The code itself is sooo buggy I think of it as swiss cheese since it has so many holes.
And lets not forget about memory. The IDE alone sucks up 60megs of RAM.
Ignore Visual Age and stick with Symantec or use a text editor. PDG--"I don't like the Prozac, the Prozac likes me"
Its rather funny that you say that cuz the I'm friends with the PGG(Megadodo) site and he's been outa the Linux loop for so long that I had to help him install RH 5.2

There's been a project guide for about 6 years now which can be found at http://megadodo.com. Anyone can submit articles to it, and it has thousands, some of which are hilarious.

Sounds to me like some lil bitch can't handle the fact that brute force CAN get the job done. Don't blame me cuz I have the means to do it while you tinker along with you P90.

Sorry, but I just HAVE to say that I submitted this piece two weeks ago. What, am I blacklisted or something?
2nd, this type of theatre control is not a first. When A. Hitchcock's Psycho first played back in the 60's, they made it a rule that once the film started, no later comers would be permitted access to the theatre as Arthur felt that it would distract the viewers, and he didn't want them to miss a thing.

OnStream has been toting their 50g backup drives for months now, but I called them and they won't even be available till mid May, even though every reseller pretends to have them. I think the important things to note is that with Scsi, back up speed is 7g/hour. That IS fast for $699. Sure, you can go spend 4 grand on a DLT IV, but I'd prefer not to.
Also, the OnStream tape drive is meant for backups, not for playing your mp3s, but supposedly it should be decent for storing large digital video clips. This is also drag and drop software. Sure, the seek will suck, but its a lot more practical than just backup/restore drives. PDG--"I don't like the Prozac, the Prozac likes me"
Sure, flame me, but I'm running dual PIIIs and its lightning fast. Hell, I don't even see things happen anymore, they just do. Thread start and end before you blink. If you can SMP, do it by all means.
PDG--"I don't like the Prozac, the Prozac likes me"
Bottom line--if everyone wants to tout celerons and AMD, then find me a motherboard that can handle TWO PROCESSORS, plus ultra-wide scsi 2, and still handle major video streaming and encoding.

Blew a few thousand? I think not. But aside from buying an SGI or an even more Unix system, I think building this system has been rather affordable. Besides, the software is cheaper, easier to find, and my bank account isn't UNlimited.

Actually I found an incredible deal where this place is Cali was selling em for the same price as most other places were dealing PIIs. I landed em for under 500 each, including warranty and heatsink fan.
PDG--"I don't like the Prozac, the Prozac likes me"
hey, I just grabbed myself a pair of PIIIs for my dual cpu server, where I plan to do some massive graphics streaming, and reproduction. Put it with the 500megs of RAM and this thing is gonna scream like the devil

I say bring on Leo. We all know that Obi-Wan is gonna crush him later on, and beat the crap outa him. What other chance do you have to see that?

Is there anything IN these new kernels or am I just using them to keep my GCC from getting dust on it?

I know you can, but RC5 takes precedence. If we don't need to prove the export crypto laws are useless and dumb, then I can hop onto the SETI project.

How longs before I can stop cracking Rc5 keys and get to work for SETI?

I would have loved to use K7s, but you try to find me a motherboard which handles SMP for socket 7 and intgerated Ultra2 SCSI.

Who said anything about Win98? Do you just assume things or does your SGI system give you telepathic abilities too?
I started out stating that I had no problems cuz all I heard was bitching and moaning about how its impossible to run.
As for the flame about the PIII, hey, when they gave me PIIIs for the price of PIIs, I wasn't about to argue with em.
