SEC requires a worst case scenario. Yes the merger did not go through but Corel still has liquid investments and many options for other financing. This will only be required if revenues continue to decline. We will know for sure in a few weeks but early indications are that sales are picking up after the Y2K dip and there is new revenue coming in from CLOS and WPO4L. Remember there was a 55,000 seat sale to DoJ and $4 million to Cdn Govt that will start to show up this quarter. The problem with the media is that they took the three ifs and a may out and turned it into 'Corel is going bankrupt'. Not quite a fair statement.

It seems that Bynari says it will work:

We developed TradeXCHTM because the computer industry needed a UNIX/Linux client for MSExchangeTM with Outlook functionality. TradeXCH bridges the gap between Outlook users and UNIX/Linux users allowing them to work together.

Results...the entire enterprise communicates as one, scheduling and calendaring are enabled throughout, and global addressing becomes a reality.

Bynari enhanced TradeClient and created TradeXCH. TradeClient now exists as a separate LGPL project in the Open Source community. Bynari's developers have made it a free software project.

Bynari's TradeXCH fulfills the enterprise gap by enabling a number of messaging protocols to communicate so that various platforms can work together --the way systems designers intended.

Currently, TradeXCH runs on X86 processor versions of Linux. You can request versions for IBM's AIX, Solaris X86 and Sparc, HP UNIX and Alpha True64 UNIX/Linux operating systems.

You may want to consider TradeServerTM as a Linux migration path from Microsoft ExchangeTM. TradeServer combines the full funtionality and inter-operability of Bynari's TradeclientTM, as well as Microsoft's OutlookTM client, using standards based non-proprietary protocols.

    Features:

    TradeServer functionality includes the following:

Interoperability with Outlook 2000, and earlier versions of Outlook A cost effective alternative to proprietary software solutions, resulting in a significant reduction of Total Cost of Ownersip (TCO).

Stability and robustness of the Linux OS for a scalable, reliable platform suited for stand alone and distributed deployment models.

Excellent scalability from stand alone installation to distributed deployments, with support for multiple databases, and one MILLION entries per database. --------------------------------------------

    Some thoughts:

The Borland settlement regards trades made between March 5, 1991 and December 9, 1992. Seems that the wheels of justice [?] turn very s l o w l y. Let's not hold our collective breath waiting for the recent Corel lawsuits to be settled.

You will notice that these crackshot attorneys managed to recover a $7M kitty to cover the $203M total claims from shareholders.

Wonder if their fees were covered proportionally? Anyway, just because a bunch of attorneys has now decided to sue Corel for some outrageous figure does not mean that they will ever collect anywhere near the claimed amount, or anything at all for that matter.

These first 100 shares of my Borland investment cost $37 1/2 in 1992. They were followed by purchases of 500 shares for $15 in 1995 and 300 shares for 14 7/8 in 1996. Sold them all for 5 3/4 in 1999. Boy, that $38 check sure makes me feel better!

What's the point here, beyond the obvious lack of investment skill? [Trust me, there ARE many winners too!] Despite what you have read recently, Corel does not have a corner on lawsuits, declining share price, or management issues; nor is Borland [Inprise] immune to them. Take whatever sanctimonious posts you read from INPR investors with a LARGE grain of salt. And if you ever want to hear about about a flamboyant CEO who went off the deep end, just check out Phillipe Kahn, once shown on the front page of the WSJ dressed for one of his famous toga parties.

Yes, things aren't looking as bright as they were a few months ago. But Corel is just one OEM agreement, one M$-DOJ settlement, one upside surprise quarter from being the hot stock it was last November.

Lets auction off the mining rights to parts of the moon or mars. The early railroads were built by the private companies that were lured by land grants etc. Another way of funding would be to put a tax of .00001% on all monetary transfers between countries.
