The difference in your logic is that traffic laws protect society, because without them, people will harm each other (i.e. running a red light, stop sign, etc). The most general effect these games would have is to (perhaps) harm an individual because they can be picked out of a crowd.
Not wise on their part, but it's not my problem and it's not my government's problem, IMHO. If they want to be pinpointed on a map, that's at their total discretion to do so.
Whoa there cowboy, while you and I prefer to not be involved in these things, that certainly doesn't give us the right to prevent anyone else from doing what they want to do, let alone allow government to get involved which games people play.
I've had an even stranger experience in the fifteen kabillion calls I've received from these douches (I work from home). I get the call, I press '9' to be connected to an operator, and then I am instantly disconnected. This happens over and over upon every call. EXTREMELY frustrating...
If you're gonna scam people why the hell don't you connect the d*** call?
In all fairness, you didn't get rid of your "idiot leadership", Bush left office as his second term ended. You had an opportunity to get rid of him after the first four years and you blew it.
First rule of cheating.. don't let people know you're cheating.
The polls showed a dead heat between Ahmedinajad and his primary opponent just one day before the election. This is fraud and oppression of the first degree.
That's right Mr. theocratic dictator. Go ahead and keep pushing down the relatively minor calls for reform and watch in horror as the demands for freedom and civil discourse grow more and more demanding, and more and more "extreme". This is how true democracies begin.
We got rid of our idiot leadership, now Iran looks to be doing the same.
(Bush was terrible by just about any measure - I'm an independent voter and have voted for Dems and Repubs)
Funny computing names like beans, cookies and web were pretty cool and hip... then came blogs, vlogs and pods, which I found rather to be rather silly words... but Twitpocalypse??? WTF?
Me too. While my old, ancient phone was prone to dial 08, there were also a number of different combinations which were designated as "emergency". Once (on a very slow night, I guess), I went through the different combination of two and three number possibilities for emergency numbers, up to two or three hundred. If memory serves me, there were at least four different combination which, when pressed, would dial 911. One of those is 121 (or maybe it was 211). There were a few others too.
I understand wanting to make your software and hardware internationally compatible, but I think it should at least be a little harder to dial 911 than to accidentally hit 08 [send].
There is much more going on in the vid than just a simple tracking of movements (not to minimize the complexity of that task). There is speech recognition, semantic parsing of the actual meaning of words... true AI.
I'm very skeptical, but it was still a fascinating vid to watch. If Microsoft has managed to accomplish even half of what that vid implies to have accomplished, my hat is off to them.
No shit. I live in an apartment, and DTV sucks it big time. I don't get the ONE station I like to watch, but I get the rest of the crap. Can't mount an external antenna to a condo. Kinda frustrated by this whole deal; I just hope we're going to get some cool portable devices running on whitespace bands to make up for this inconvenience.
Way to be a dick to a hard working front line employee... yeah, I'm sure Comcast Bonny will get right on calling the board about the issues you mention...
Now they don't even bother to use words anymore PTSD is the notion. As funny of a guy as Carlin was, I think he makes a very good point here. PTSD sounds so generic and fluffy, it could mean anything.
Yeah, we love developer APIs, and I'm sure there's a geek who's mouth is watering for cut and paste, but this announcement just isn't as shiny as past Apple announcements. I'm guessing many will disagree, but personally, I think Apple's innovation has been on a decline, and these smaller innovations (while still involving significant technical effort) will not resonate as well as the video ipod or iphone did, for example.
I know Bing uses "authoritative" sources rather than just page rank (according to their promo vid on the Bing main page prior to Bing launch). Apparently, they've created them as authorities on Linux and no one else is. Hmmmmmmm...
Reminds me of a few years back when thieves pilfered some private data from Coca-cola and tried to sell it to Pepsi. Pepsi did work with the thieves... and Coke... and the thieves were arrested, IIRC. http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=5537560
If this story is true, these folks are certainly not the brightest bulbs in the bunch and will have their asses in slings pretty soon.
Hey, if you're reading this script kiddies, get out of the country NOW.
Because sooner or later we'll all be 9 feet tall with the same exact facial features and skin tone
LOL!
Well honestly I didn't even know I wrote hell until you pointed it out.
Sometimes I randomly choose to censor my profanity and sometimes I don't. Just depends on my mood I guess.
KRUNK!

I'd prefer it to be legally banned

Yep, I can't argue that point...

Patriotism.
I'm certainly not the first to say it, but: Europe has a flag no one salutes and an anthem no one sings.

Hmm, good point.
As well as some underpaid parents willing to cheat with/for their kids...

Kai Cavalin has graduated from East Los Angeles Community College
I'm sure he's more brilliant than I'll ever to close to, but wouldn't it have made sense to go to a real university if he's that smart?
Here's some Doogie Howser music, if you miss the intro, like I do (for some bizarre reason) http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x3qt3k_alternate-doogie-howser-md-tv-intro_fun

How the hell did you get that past the filter? I can't do it!
You're welcome.

Wow. Awesome vid, I just wish I understood more of it.
... and so is a bankruptcy filling. To save effort and energy, they might as well do both at the same time.
(Disclosure: I saw this post on a different blog, and I'm blatantly stealing it.. ah, now my conscience feels better)
