    What did the Yemenis do to you to trigger the slow fuse that is resulting in so many dead civilians? And then there's all the over countries where you've killed people since you started killing natives to steal their land though it really took off after setting Spain up for war.
    Even Japan, you showed up with war ships and forced them to open up trade when they just wanted to be left alone.

    I never mentioned crosswalk or turning, more like pedestrian stepping out from behind parked vehicle into traffic. Intersections are usually easy as you're moving slow though a pedestrian going against the light can still be an unexpected nightmare.
    And yes, on top of hitting someone, there's the legal shit.

    Well luckily, as always pointed out here, the USA has strong freedom of speech protections so any judge will release him due to the 1st amendment.

    It would help if they stuck to the crosswalks and even then the city has added flashing lights to the ones in the middle of the block to help with the lack of visibility caused by parked cars.

    Err, forcing these ultra-orthodox Jews to be vaccinated would be antisemitism. Seems the current President is very much against antisemitism, so yes, it can be partially blamed on the current President and his supporters.

    Cannabis traces stays in the blood for a about a month, showing up in blood tests. So you smoked a joint the other day, get killed in an accident and blood work shows cannabis by products in blood, so marijuana related accident.
    It's very hard to tell if someone is/was actually marijuana impaired with sobriety tests seeming the best and hard to do when someone is unconscious, concussed, or dead.

    That's how I use my phone when driving, tell the passenger to take care of it. Do need a passenger though.

    Even when paying attention, I've almost hit pedestrians a couple of times. It's easy to miss something while trying to look everywhere, especially if there are blind spots, caused by passengers head or another vehicle.
    Pedestrians who blindly walk into traffic are asking for a Darwin award, even if they are in the right.

    Even rear-enders can cause injury. Shit, I barely got bumped once unexpectedly, my neck was achy for a couple of days. Others I know off suffered much more after being rear-ended.

  15. There's still the problem of misinterpreting light changes and such. Common thing I see here is left turn light turns green, traffic in left turn lane starts to move, idiot in next lane also moves straight ahead as he thought the light had turned green. Luckily traffic is usually slow enough that no accident results, just a traffic jam.
    Too often traffic doesn't move on a green as well, due to people not paying attention. Once again more of an irritant which leads to traffic jams.

    Wouldn't they just bring it in when there is an expense that it is needed for.
    Example, they're building a new headquarters that costs $100 million, they onshore $100 million and use it to build the building and that $100 million is a write off and the company has a $100 million headquarters to show off.
    Another example, reccesion happens and company loses $100 million, they bring home that $100 million and break even.

    There's also the question of if these tax write offs are actually legal. It takes an audit and often a long court case to decide and the IRS has been ordered by Congress to focus on single Moms for auditing and cut their budget so they can't audit big company and follow through with court case to decide on fuzzy loophole.

    Things did change in England after the Glorious Revolution with Parliament refusing to continue the Stationers monopoly and introducing the modern type of copyright where after 14-28 years (35 years grandfathers clause) works entered the public domain as well as copies going to famous libraries (Oxford and Cambridge).

    From the CBC article that the summary links to https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada...

    According to the B.C. RCMP's traffic services, it's OK to drive with one earbud in, but wearing two can result in a $368 fine.

    So it seems to come down to having 2 earplugs plugged in. And yes, I misremembered the music part.

    Distracted driving has been illegal for a long time, probably as long as failure to yield and DUI. Currently distracted driving is the main cause of motor vehicle accidents here and it is quite possible that the driver I mentioned was distracted. I'm also close enough to where this article took place that it is possible, though unlikely that it was the same idiot, I doubt it but stranger things happen.

    My understanding is that the defendant stated he was using it for music, as well as having 2 ear buds inserted.

    For many people, it is easier to spend money with a card compared to watching cash disappear out of your wallet. It's going to vary by person.
    The pleasure disgust thing is from studies of watching brain activity. Once again, everyone is different.

    According to the fine summary,

    On the question of the battery, the judge said he relied on a 2015 precedent set in a Canadian provincial court, which says that holding an electronic device in a position where it could be used constitutes an offense, even if it is temporarily not working.

    And yes, I'm guilty of breaking the tradition and actually read the summary as well as hearing this on the news.

    Using a phone hands free is legal in BC. You do have to put the earbud in before driving to be legal and the earbud can't be used for music.
