I've had Logitech Cordless Desktop Pro at home for over 5 years.
As long as I always keep batteries in house, I've never had any problems. Over those 5 years I've changed batteries on my keyboard once, and in my mouse about once a year. I have never had any packet-loss of any kind, even when I take the keyboard into the living-room where I've got the TV hooked up in Xinerama.
I love the split-keyboard and won't switch this setup until it breaks completely, or the Logitech Cordless Comfort gets more functions (and maybe bluetooth).
These guys are so behind the times. Al Pacino created the perfect virtual actress and super-star celebrity *2* years ago, and Rez (of Lo/Rez-fame) married one *7* years ago.
But what if I'm at this great concert. Suddenly my computer at home fancies the music he hears live on the radio, and wants to join in and jam with the orchestra through my cell-phone.
He would be really upset if he wasn't able to reach me.
Call me facetious, but you still have to nano a cron script, not an easy task. In fact, the thought of editing crontabs again is filling me with dread.:P
Damien Sandras, the main developer of GnomeMeeting,
stated today that SIP-support is one of the main targets for GnomeMeeting 2.0, as well as better integration with the rest of the desktop (e-d-s, bonobo and dbus).
Having been a fan of ambient-guru Geir Jenssen aka Biosphere's music for a decade, listening to this actually reminds me of some of his works. I attended an amazing live-gig with him in September, where he created a similar mood, although a bit more exceptional with images and settings.
Also knowing that he is a member/employe at Notam (Norwegian Network for Acoustics, Technology and Music) I can't help feeling he got to be involved or an inspiration for this work of art.
As the visionary he was, William Gibson described this in his novel - Mona Lisa Overdrive.
Mona, a young girl with a murky past, is transformed to look like Angie Mitchell, simstim-star and also one of the lead characters in Count Zero. All of course in a masterly created plot which involves Mona, Angie and all of humanity.
Now, when will se that Sprawl-trilogy on the big screen:(
I would say the reason they want the source is as a security, in case your company disappears or for some other reasons is unable to give support for the product in the future.
The best way to work this out is to find some way in the contract to deposit the source (in a bank vault or whatever), which they can then get their hands on if the unthinkable should happen.
Of course, like everybody else here IANAL, so you should get one to figure out the details. I'm sure they would be happy to oblige with this.
I've come to that conclusion a long time ago. For almost every newsitem in a field I have a more-than-average knowledge in, facts are turned around. In the process of making news more accesible to the reader/watcher/listener, they come out completely wrong.
I don't even trust the stuff I read on Slashdot blindly. But news on the internet is good for one thing - the possibility to trace it back to the source, and get it "straight from the horse's mouth."

And maybe the reason why IIS is gaining on Apache is the same reason this worm still is so widespread: Win 2K installs IIS as default without telling the user.
An ip-address in my office building popped up in my apache-logs on monday. I tracked the guy down, and it turned out he just had plugged a laptop with a freshly installed win2k into the network.
Five minutes after he had come to work, his machine was compromised. I told him to take a backup of and review all necessary documents on his machine for possible other infections/fuckups and have the machine reformatted/installed.
These days you can't even install win2k on a computer connected to the net. It will be compromised before you've got the time to path it and/or deactivate the default settings.

The xlibs-dev 4.0.2 debian-package provides the static libXrender.a. I've also got a symlink to the non-existing dynamic lib, but haven't got a clue which package created it.
E17-cvs works fine with me under Debian Sid with an Ati 128.
I was just blown away when mozilla 0.7 popped up. The Slashdot front-page was completely loaded in tenths of a second. Then I figured out I wanted to test it with Opera 4beta.
No (wannabe?) DJ should get sweaty about these as I say they would be quite hard mixing with. Then i'd rather get my hands of two of the brand new Vestax PDX-D3S They got an instant-speed-stick-controller, reverse play, a quartz lock and optional linking of multiple decks to control them all from one deck. Maybe it's finally time to give those Technics a rest.
These ELP's are for audiophiles-only. I guess I'd like one for sampling my vinyl-collection though:-) Since my grandad hasn't wanted to share of his old 78rpm-glass-album-collection yet, I could do with the "cheap" version for now.
XI. MR. GIBSON vs. THE ART-WORLD TRICKSTERS
A. Well, I wrote a long, narrative free-verse poem to my father, which was going to be packaged in its initial form on a diskette that was encoded so it would erase itself.
Interesting to read the story of this poem. I didn't know this, and just had to search my olde harddisk for it and read it again. Has anybody actually seen the etchings mentioned in the header of the poem?
I hesitated before untying the bow that bound this book together.
New and buggy?

I think you mean this Slashdot article instead.

Try getting the version in unstable.
0.70 hit it yesterday. It includes some additional Yahoo-patches as well.
A cvs version of 0.69 has been in experimental since 18. sep, but it was only there for some preliminary testing of the new msn-protcol.
gaim (1:0.70-2) unstable; is the one to get.
You could try 'apt-get source gaim' from unstable and rebuild it for sarge or woody, as the package has to wait a couple of days to get into testing.
This is exactly what the high contrast-themes in most window-managers are for (even Windows 3.11 had those).
Here are some good articles/pointers to find out more about designing with high contrast colors in mind:

The only compatiblity package needed is the new modutils, and they are already in unstable.
apt-get install module-init-tools
Download new kernel, configure, compile, install and reboot, and try do it all with kernel-package....
Worked perfectly for me (TM), but you may have to do some tweeking if you want some other stuff (like nvidia-drivers).

Try these patches as mentioned here.

How about checking out Dave Jones' introduction to 2.5? :)
It will probably be updated as things move along, most notably is LVM2 already included.

Figure out there how to get it apt-able.
