[Sceptic] Brian Dunning has put together a video on how to think critically. Itâ(TM)s called Here Be Dragons, and itâ(TM)s a pretty good primer into how to think.
Itâ(TM)s about 40 minutes long, and free to use (with some caveats; see the site). I think this would do well in a classroom. Any teachers out there? I know itâ(TM)s too late for most school sessions, but you can download the movie (and a high-res version too) and keep it handy for the next year.http://www.badastronomy.com/bablog/2008/06/11/here-be-dragons/
Firefox has extensions. Which is where the real advantage is. Actually, some of the things you can do with extensions in Firefox are built-in functionalities in Opera. And I've found them to be much faster than a fully loaded Firefox.
And having said that, I'm still a hard-core Firefox user, add-ons and all, although I'm sad to say, that I'm not as excited about the release of Fx 3 as I was prior to the release of Fx2, and that's basically because Ubuntu (and even some other major distros) decide to push out the betas in their more recent versions. Having got used to it, I can't really expect any surprises.
Not really. It will automatically disable them if they are not compatible. You'll have to wait till the add-on programmers come up with a version for Fx3. Another new feature is that Firefox has a built-in update checker. When a new version is uploaded to AMO, you will be alerted, assuming your previous version was also downloaded from AMO. But if you really want those add-ons right now, you might want to visit the website(not the AMO page) of the add-on, they may have a beta version. Some of the ones I use are still in beta, but I don't face many problems, if any.
I think this is an argument similar to those put forward by some Americans against NASA's space programme. And I think the reply to both is the same: The respective Governments are not wasting the entire nation's wealth in the development of space technology and exploration - they do that elsewhere!
A couple of tabs away, I have the Python Docs/Tutorial page open learning about keyword arguments. Would have I to learn everything over again in a year?
Technically, many Linux users get updated through the repos. But either way, it is still automatic.
Speaking of Linux, I guess this release is not as important the previous release of Fx, since I haven't yet seen an update.(Ubuntu 7.10.) Usually, I get to know about an update through some news source or the other, but with 2.0.0.10, it was apt that first informed me.
I say the guy or gal who does online shopping (or any other transaction that involves typing down credit card number, etc.) deserves to get his or her card number stolen.
What if Gutsy Gibbon turns out to be better than Feisty Fawn, which, btw, will be released in a few months? Also, 7.04 is not an LTS(Long Term Service).
Funny you should mention that. I was quite shocked when I read "IE8 Beta 2 Faster Than Firefox and XP." Now, that would be 2012 coming too soon. ;)

Nerds attend parties???
Slashdot should start using Ubuntu's symbol instead of Debian's. Oh and, I'm downloading via the torrent right now.
Maybe, then, everyone, the everyone who today love Google and yearn for a Mac, will starting using Linux and OSS.

I see only 3620 hits as I type this.
Good answer. This is pretty much the post I was about to make. My thoughts, exactly. (I just had to say that.)
Um, I think you mean 2.0.0.9. I remember seeing 2.0.0.8 soon after I upgraded to Gutsy.

Nothing to worry. Just testing the typical reaction of geeks, nerds and similar species.

Well, when talking to your boss, don't use the code name. If you're boss is already a member of the Ubuntu community, then I see no problem at all.
That didn't go quite well. I meant to link this.
That's enough for me. I have a Firefox Extension to have an eye on my GMail accounts.

Three trillion years...I suppose that's when that Google-beating start-up will rise.
The next big Hollywood monster movie!
