Lots of SMB's don't have "IT droids". This actually would be a good opportunity for people such as yourself to break away from the shackles of corporate IT and write your own ticket as a consultant/contractor.
Only on the surface. From a developer's point of view, this is a pain in the ass which typically results in buggy apps, or no app at all (in favor of developing instead for iOS because of the lack of fragmentation, which makes development far easier and thus a more attractive platform for developers). The apps are what make these devices. Without them, you just have yourself an expensive browsing/email device.
To be fair, the average new Ubuntu user probably is going to benefit from a dumbed-down interface like Unity. Having tons of config options will overwhelm most non-power users. That's the whole reason Canonical is running with it.
Dr. Cole (President of Montclair State University): That was never a condition of our agreement, nor was devoting more personnel to this project! Larry Ellison: Perhaps you think you're being treated unfairly? Dr. Cole: [pauses] No. Larry Ellison Good. It would be unfortunate if this project happened to have any further costly delays. Dr. Cole: [under her breath] This deal is getting worse all the time.
Wow...you guys are a bunch of ungreatful asshats. Who cares why they're doing it, the fact is that they're letting somebody go to school on their dime. What's so evil about that?
And not in that charming NY/Jersey kind of way. Seriously, just drop it and don't ever mention it again. Regardless of your good intentions, these assholes WILL come after you legally. It's best just to let them find out the hard way and let them pin it on somebody else (who hopefully isn't you).
Rip it, store it on a network storage system that XBMC can access (there are many), and stream it to your display device. There are many thin-clients you can use as an XBMC box. I personally use an old Acer Aspire Revo (which have since been discontinued). Probably the cheapest device you can use as an XBMC box that's currently available and doesn't look hideous is the Apple TV 2. For $99 with a remote that works out-of-box, you can't really beat that (granted, it can only output up to 720p).

You can...it's called Time Warner Business Class. And besides, with stuff like DynDNS, why do you even need a static IP for your home?
Just FYI, this guy does steriods. I'd imagine this accounts for 80% of his actions (the other 20% attributed to him being a dumb fuck).
Upon further reading, this guy appears to be a total 'roid head. Figured it had to be one of the two.

Isn't that a good thing though?

Seems like KDE is still very actively developed, but you have to go out of your way (Kubuntu) to even use it.
How is getting/installing Kubuntu going out of your way?
I've switched to Clementine. Forked from the Amarok 1.x codebase and is still actively maintained. It rocks.
Or, you know, you could actually preview your post before submitting it.

they had lower RQ scores and were grossly overconfident.
Sounds like your typical suit user.

I like kompare.
You retaliate with your own gun. After all, this is in the good ol US of A isn't it?
lol...a perfect example of the pot calling the kettle black.
They forgot the Type-R sticker.
They could still collect the data and just not display it to end-users, thus they'd still have the data to mine.
Maybe if you didn't have AdBlock+ running, you would have seen an ad for it :p
It is tempting to know what others in my company make, but it's just not worth the risk of getting caught & losing a good job.

Yeah...why don't you ask BP how that worked out for them.
Is this the same GamePro that used to have a TV show back around 20 years ago?
^ What he said
