Oh and it is not "simple optics". It takes a lot of time to calculate and align the mirrors so they converge correctly. They have to be realigned for every shot.
I find this too, always wondered if shift and tilt lens could solve the problem. The centre the screen is always the parallel point. When you are watching in 3D, and the subject in focus is the right 3rd of frame (following rules of thirds) as an example, the parallel lines are not n the correct place, they need to be shifted to the right so the subject is correctly parallel.
This will also make you look in the correct direction as your eyes are drawn by the convergent point being in the correct place.
I have worked on films that are shot in 3D (I work as a sound assistant). Only one of the three DoP's really knew how to use the 3D rigs correctly.
The major problem with the two that were inexperienced with 3D rigs is they never bothered to 'toe-in' the mirrors so they converged at the correct point. This resulted in the final product making you feel boss-eyed, and would give you a headache after not too long.
Give it time. It took a year or so for videographers/camera ops to get used to HD ( for example, most are used to 50/60 interlaced video, moving to 25/30 progressive means you can't pan and tilt at certain speeds as you get jerky movement).
Avatar 3D got it right by moving the mirrors while following focus. I have seen others where they pull focus, yet the mirrors stay fixed, making you see double.
My PS3 has been broken since the update. I cannot connect to PSN, Playstation Home, play online or watch a bluray. When I try to connect I get error "Z(7,-100)". I have told by some people that it is broken server side if I get that error, Sony support are clueless.
Apple is absolutely correct to follow the published standard to the letter. Afterall, isn't that why it's called a STANDARD?
Problem is, most may be 802.11n, which has only recently been ratified. A lot of users have pre-ratified firmware (and perhaps hardware if pre draft 1), also the majority of consumers either do not know how to update their firmware, or do not know their AP was pre-ratification for the standard.
My Netgear DG834N v1 used to be buggy on 'n', both on my Macs and Sony laptops. Firmware update fixed the Sony, but the Macs did not want to stay stable, and it was I was only getting 2-4Mb/s, so I fell back on to 'g' which was maximum strength and speed. It was only until last month I decided to take my Netgear apart, to find there was no third antenna, so I installed a third one. I'm currently on the other side of my house to the router, and enjoying 108Mb/s on my Mac.
Hybrids also use more CO2 in manufacture than a Range Rover would use in manufacture, it's whole life (fuel etc) on the road, and to safely recycle the vehicle. They have also not worked out how they will dispose of the batteries in hybrids also.
I agree, interns should always be paid. I find it interesting the same debate is happening over the other side of the pond in the UK. My union, BECTU, who represent film, television, entertainment and theatre technicians want an end to unpaid internship/work experience. They also want to stop indie film makers asking for work for free because they can't afford to pay anybody.
I work in film production usually as a sound assistant or trainee. I have a degree and have some experience, and I'm at a point in my career where I need experience. The only work I'm likely to get is for free, and this is even for major film studios such as Universal or Disney. It's not fun when there are three sound crew out for 400 crew on set, and one of those three is unpaid. There is no way an agency, diary service or production team will take me on paid unless I have some decent credits to my name, of which the sound trainee or assistant isn't credited sometimes (arghh!!). It really needs to stop.
An accelerometer only measure acceleration, a change in direction is a big acceleration. A big change in direction can cause the signal to clip, when this happens you get random data. You have to apply a transfer function; a lower limit threshold that is above the noise floor, and limit small movements, and a high threshold to prevent any clipping.
Retailers abuse the Sales of Goods Act. Products should be made to last a reasonable amount of time, retailers are responsible for 6 years.
Apple were happy to fix my 3 and a half year old iMac for free, Sony fixed my two year old (had a 1 year guarantee) monitor for free. Well, the guys at PC World refused to accept responsibility for a failed motherboard on a 1 year and 1 month old laptop, and wanted to charge me more than I paid for the machine when new just to repair it. Trading Standards told me to go back with a copy of the Sales of Goods Act, PC World promptly fixed it for free. Retailers need to understand this is an unreasonable time for a computer to fail and should repair it, even if out of guarantee, for free.
There should be no reason for tax free repair IMHO. If a machine fails in an unreasonable time, the retailer should fix it. If it is an old machine, the IT company should write it off for tax purposes anyway.
But that [Facebook app] uses webkit that is built in to iPhone OS.
Could be the Enzo zenPad. Pure vapourware.

I think I explained that correctly.

So when a site gets slashdotted and blown to oblivion, Google also ranks it lower. Awesome!
We already know the next generation of iPhone will have a mini-USB connector after they signed an agreement to standardise phone chargers and sockets.

The latest generation of iMacs have removable graphics cards.

Your neighbour will also need a computer that is capable of running iTunes 9.1 first. If not, she wont be able to use her iPad.
Well, he can soon publish his papers, meaning you can make your own informed opinion.
Before, it was suppressed, not allowing anyone to make their opinion.
Right, seriously. I have people holding note pads asking for mod points, and another guy took his trousers/pants off. Please, slashdotters!
I hope I get this guy on the other end: http://www.wimp.com/livechatroulette/
Slashdot is pretty much broken on the iPhone/iPod. I'm guessing it will be just as bad using the same browser on the iPad.
What contract? It's PAYG, unlocked too!
Software patents have never been allowed in Europe, and the UK like to make a big stand against such patents.

It's really only the Americas that have software patents.

Next up is the "CSI Enhance" tool. Take a photo of 10x10 pixels, and make it a perfect 2MP image.

What happens if the DRM servers go down? I could spend 4 hours trying to activate the demo, by which the time has run out.
Makes me think the insurance companies need to be delisted. There is no reason for them to be on the stock exchange.
Do you have co-operative type insurance companies where all the customers are partners with a share?
