Absolutely. I got the HBC installed using the install dvd image (have a modded wii, but you can use some other tricks to install it on an unmodded wii too). If I want to play MI I just select the homebrew channel from the wii menu, then select scummvm, and that's it. Piratey fun point'n'clicking from the couch.
well then they have every right to define the terms of the rental. What they can't do is change them after you've paid, I think there's pretty clear legislation about it almost everywhere.
I chose a bad case to drop my rant, it's more generalist and I didn't mean it just for this case.. this just pissed me off over a couple points and I wanted to let it out:)
You've both got it all wrong. The problem is not the government saying how we can drive our own cars. That is analogue to the government telling how we can use copyrighted stuff, which it does (i.e.: DON'T REDISTRIBUTE IT WITHOUT PERMISSION).
The problem here is that blizzard sells you the product, *then* wants to tell you how to use it.
A more fitting analogy would be if Ford sold you a car, then told you "but you can't use it on highways, interstates or parking lots, and you must park it in a covered garage", which is BS, 'cause once you bought it it's YOUR car, and you can do whatever you want with it, as long as it doesn't break the law (over which Ford isn't supposed to have any say...).
The worst they can do is refuse to service you or void your warranty if it was explicitly specified before you bought the car, but they can't tell you what to do with your own stuff.
Now, if they're Renting you a car, or leasing it, that's another thing altogether, but then they should clearly advertise it as a rent, and not as a product you buy out of the shelf.
And even when renting, that implies a whole lot of responsibilities from the vendor..
Discrimination is unjust. Medical facts are not discrimination.
Medical fact is not discrimination. Making a different decision based on differences in those medical facts IS discrimination. The person saying "we will not give insurance to this person due to this criteria" is discriminating. Wether that kind of discrimination is or not wrong is another matter. I personally think it is.
One thing is to make a person who decides to smoke pay more, as it is a conscious decision of that person, and that person could give up smoking to avoid higher fees, and another is to somehow marginalize you because of a gene, something that you cant change, and that you didnt choose.
I received a copy of "Free Culture" when I subscribed to the FSF. Very interesting read. This man seems to have some very good ideas, and knows quite a bit about copyright and derivatives. I'd vote for him if I could:)
Well, I guess it's a matter of taste or something. I've installed Kubuntu on my fiancee's pc and she loves it. Doesn't want to go back to windows ever again. She's also got an ibook, and is thinking about selling it (it's quite old) and getting a dell notebook and put ubuntu on it.
Oh and she says OpenOffice is way better than word. She writes papers for the university all the time and finds the pdf-exporting very useful.
Agree. I also found Alien vs. Predator (the games, I and II) very scary, especially when you played as the marine, and kept seeing blips in your movement detector getting closer and closer and you couldn't see where the heck they were coming from until you had them on you.
I don't think America's military might is what scares most countries (excepting those whith which you already have some kind of conflict), but actually economic/financial and political might is the problem. America can fight so many stupid wars before things start to get really ugly internally, the problem is that even when in deficit, the US has incredible economical and financial muscle. Subtle threats to drive a small country's economy down the drain with a few moves can lead to misery just as quick and maybe more lastingly (is that a word?) than a conventional war.
I think the work of tolkien you refer to at the beggining is his essay "On Fairy-Stories" published in "Tree and Leaf".
At some point he says something about fantasy and world creation (or sub-creation) being not so much 'escapism' as in a deserting soldier (a rather demeaning word), but rather as in a prisoner escaping to freedom.

Bud Light? Wouldn't that be like Diet Water? :)

Yeah, that's basically why I am completely against the very concept of EULAs, but that's another story :)

This is all fucked up big time.

Go figure. This was a couple of years ago, maybe they were all friends then.. dunno. Still a good book anyway :)

Oh, I'll be playing Brawl, I can wait ;)
And here I am, out of mod points.
Please someone mod this man UP!
Seems it was confirmed for Wii a while ago.
Screw spending more and more money on newer graphics cards, CPUs, mobos, etc.
I'm getting this game for Wii.
Well, I don't usually post comments like this.. maybe it's the wine I just had, but ...
FUCK THEM
there. Don't really know how to express what I feel about this more precisely at this point.
Great post, man. Agree 100%

so.. go figure.
If that was true, marketing would be completely pointless.

Well, many of us down here in Argentina grew up watching this and Mazinger Z on tv, so you can bet I'll be watching this.
They should blame both

Well, now, isn't that just convenient? :)
Well, now we can verify. Next year, MS should make at least 2M above expected, right?
FMA es excellent, and I also recommend Cowboy Bebop if you haven't seen it. It's 26 episodes long, and it's just excellent.

Highly recommended reading.
