You must be confused, that is the way things are now. Comcast is a great example. No where in Google's proposal does it say that the company must have already been committing the crime for the FCC to take action.
Do you have a single example of a MYTH that is confirmed by the FACT? The closest one is "MYTH: This proposal would eliminate network neutrality over wireless." Where they explain that they aren't eliminating anything. They just aren't proposing any changes other than transparency.
we have agreed to a proposal that allows this market to remain free from regulation for now
You realize that non-neutral mobile is allowed right now, yes? Most carriers won't let you do any peer to peer sharing. This is right from AT&T's terms of service.
This means, by way of example only, that checking email, surfing the Internet, downloading legally acquired songs, and/or visiting corporate intranets is permitted, but downloading movies using P2P file sharing services, redirecting television signals for viewing on Personal Computers, web broadcasting, and/or for the operation of servers, telemetry devices and/or Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition devices is prohibited.
You guys act like Google is opening the flood gates to ISP abuse, when they are really just not touching the wireless ones. And they have decent reason for it too considering wireless infrastructure limitations.
Google has proposed net neutrality legislation that gives the FCC authority to enforce net neutrality, and doesn't change anything with wireless internet other than require transparency. This will certainly be much worse than the existing net neutrality laws, which don't exist. Except for maybe the Comcast court decision.
He also found that slum dwellers there collected their excrement in a plastic bag and disposed of it by flinging it, calling it a “flyaway toilet” or a “helicopter toilet.”
...
He plans to sell it for about 2 or 3 cents — comparable to the cost of an ordinary plastic bag.
Well, perhaps this doesn't fall under the US's Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, but maybe it falls under the UK's Computer Misuse Act. But regardless, there's probably some line in some EULA that lets them do whatever they want.
Hmm, interesting. What about the license agreement when you install Windows? Maybe they have some dumb, "We reserve the right to get information from your computer if you do not complete the installation of WGA"? I don't know much about this stuff, so maybe someone can enlighten me.
Final thought - it would be fascinating to see a commercial test of consumers having to actually pay for BC. Having forked out a significant amount of income for the hardware, how many would pay an extra $30 or so to play all their PS2 games?
I'm sure many people would have liked to have paid $30 dollars less for a PS3 with no backwards compatibility. The question is, why is Europe paying more instead?
At least to my knowledge, I haven't heard of the EU PS3 being cheaper, but rather more expensive.
Probably as soon as we start taking responsibility for our actions. I'm surprised this law wasn't spurred by some lawsuit against Ipods for blocking out noises that would otherwise warn us of danger.
People have sued for just about everything else.
Seems like the mentality that goes into working on such prize projects probably goes into open source projects.
The desire to expand your knowledge and skill.
A personal interest in the completion of the project at hand.
The need for recognition.
Something to put on your resume.
Have corporations found a way to utilize this motivation in projects other than software? What role does the cash prize play in this if people are spending many times fold in attempting to win the spoils?
Very good points, but I don't think they match up quite the same way.
By taking the resource and not using it, they blocked other users who would be ready to use the table immediately.
But the thing is nobody else would be ready to purchase the PS3, because it is not yet available. Perhaps you are talking about how some of these people may only be interested in reselling the PS3 closer to Christmas, in which case your analogy nails it. Poor PS3 fans deprived by opportunists buying them only to hold it from them until demand rises.
All in all, I don't think there's anything wrong, per se, with waiting in line for anything for a week or two. I do, however, believe it is a serious waste of time. Even if you were paid only $7 an hour and only worked 20 hours a week, that would be an additional opportunity cost of $140 on top of your $600 purchase. As for the rest of the hours of your week, it depends on what you'd normally spend that time doing.
Seems really ridiculous considering what they're waiting for. Probably just Sony employees like others have been saying.
I can understand that you feel children shouldn't be playing games like GTA and maybe Bully, I don't know what's in it yet besides bullies and boys kissing. But two things...
It doesn't matter if you're trying to put a criminal in jail or sue the family who broke his leg while he tried to break in, you don't get to take over the court. If Jack Thompson can't make a case without threatening, making blind accusations, and harrassing, then he should very well be held in contempt.
Also, it's not Take Two's fault that children are playing these games any more than it is the movie industries fault that children are watching R-rated movies or pornography. It doesn't matter how much you bubble up a kid, if you don't educate him and monitor his TV/internet/video game/whatever time, it's not anyone's fault but yours if he learns about killing and thinks it's a good idea.
But seriously, Jack Thompson is a mad man. I once thought that maybe there was some essence of good in him, that perhaps there was something more behind him than just video game hating and that he was trying to better our community. But then I did some research and found out he'll disregard your thoughts, intelligence, comments, and presence the moment he finds out you're affiliated to video games at the slightest. He will not only pass off what you're saying as insignificant, he'll insult and threaten you for it as well. Just look up some of his encounters with some writers, or my favorites, with VGCats and Penny Arcade.
It sounds like it is only designed to work with Vista. Although I don't see why a driver can't be made to have it work with other operating systems, other than that it would be difficult to do if Samsung has some sort of a contract with Microsoft. But then again, I don't know that much about drivers.
And unfortunately, the GameCube's launch lacked something all previous Nintendo console launches had: a Mario title. The results weren't promising, as the GameCube had to undergo several price cuts before it would sell well.
Somehow, I don't think the GameCube's mistake at launch was not providing a Mario title...

I don't understand why this was modded Troll.

They must be evil now.
PC Gamers are also much more attractive.

Doesn't that make it spyware? I'm sure there's something about it in the license agreement to make it legal. Boy that does suck.
That is hilarious. Sony goes, "OH SHI- We're getting boat loads of bad press from this! We take it back!"

Why did this get modded funny? A remote control anything with a weapon concerns me.
