In the end, it's the public that gets hurt by deleting this information. We've long gone past the "Who watches the watchers" question, because the answer has been "None" for a long time.
Mass Effect 2 had a lot of player statistics being collected:
Recent statistics gathered by Mass Effect 2 snooping revealed that the Engineer is the class least played, whereas the Soldier seems to be the overall favorite. Roughly 50-percent of the people who started Mass Effect 2 actually finished the game, whereas apparently two PC gamers completed Mass Effect 2 twenty-eight times. 15-percent of the in-game dialogue was skipped as well.
Shorter games? Fine.. but also drop the price then.
Personally I like my games to be long. It's not uncommon for me to play a 6-8 hour single scenario of Sins of a Solar Empire or Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance.
But if they are going to change it like they did with SupCom:FA to SupCom2 where they made it shorter but also just dumbed the game down, then I'm going to be mad. I've played through SupCom2 once, but I still play SupCom:FA.
I was hoping Power over Ethernet (PoE) was going to be successful since it would mean a LOT less cables, but this seems like a good alternative. I just hope it becomes a standard because PoE was nowhere to be found.
I mean, as a customer, first you get screwed over by having your medical records out in public. Then the company gets fined and leverages that fine on its customers, thusly getting screwed a second time. Finally, costs are incurred for getting up to standards, and guess who is paying for those costs?
Wasn't it an evolutionary mechanism, where the non-human characteristics on something resembling a human triggers the idea in people that the thing in questions is a sick human and as such should be avoided?
Would make perfect sense why the brain would react to the uncanny valley in that case. After all, avoiding sickness makes you survive longer.
I hate Unity so much... I wiped the system and installed 10.04 again. I was perfectly happy with Gnome and the way things were set up.
The problem, is that it's form trumping functionality. I hate Windows because they push 'features' onto you even if you don't want them. Microsoft knows what you want, and if you don't want it that way, it just means the problem must be you.
The king of this trend is of course Apple, but then again they sell to a peculiar market anyway. It's like those people buy a car because it's pretty and do not even inquire about the mileage.
Ubuntu was free of it, but now they are going the same way. They decide what you want, if you want it or not.
I believe the entire line-up from Popcap games is already pretty women-friendly. And looking how big the Sims is, I think women get plenty of attention. Warcraft has a huge amount of girls playing as well.
Besides.. who says women don't like FPS's like Counterstrike and such? I think women would hate it more if they were relegated into a corner with an all pink edition of Barbie Pony Combing, then let out in the world and play anything we guys play.
This is total bullshit. Even the most vendor locked email client has export options (I'm looking at you Outlook). Even then, it's trivial to use a print-to-PDF program to keep everything electronic.
This stinks to high heaven and me thinks this means there's something in there people don't want to get out. Reporters are going to have a field day.
Mod parent up! It's stupid some mod tagged it 'Flamebait' while parent poster is correct and makes the most important observation about these 'messages from Anonymous'.
1) Why does the network need rebuilding? 2) Where the hell are they getting an unlimited budget from? 3) Why, if they have money, would they hire somebody who never did any admin work?
I'm not saying you won't be able to do it, I'm saying you try and figure out their motives and cover your ass with asbestos!
Floating houses for low-lying countries?!?
Do they know something I don't?

So.. since the US made such a big deal about cyber attacks being seen as an act of war, can you guys let me know when the nukes start flying?
Oh.. wait.. China? You mean the US's sugardaddy? nvm..

USB 3.0 should be less CPU intensive, because IIRC they switched from a polling protocol to an interrupt based protocol.

After all the lawsuits that Google had to go through, who was the genius at Microsoft that thought this was a good idea?
That's part of the fun right?

I'd pay big ISK for a dapper tophat and monocle. :)

Let some Tennessee statesman post a graph about projected job loss for the coming years and sue..
In fact I think any imagery related with Republican elections are automatically in. Fox news is out of business in Tennessee as well. :)

So we've got a Schrödinger memo here.. It is, could be or isn't, but in the end nobody knows what the fuck.. :)
I don't think I'm the only one that has a problem with Apple only saying: "Hey guy, you know, just trust us!"
Amazon giveth.. http://yro.slashdot.org/story/10/10/24/222237/Amazon-To-Allow-Book-Lending-On-the-Kindle
And Amazon taketh away.. http://yro.slashdot.org/story/11/03/22/0231214/Amazon-Stymies-Lendle-E-book-Lending-Service
That's should stop a lot of companies from removing features at will..
I don't want to play an eSport.. I want to play something _fun_.
