In the meantime, it would be decent to at least mention them. 10% of 9/11 victims, this deserves at least 2 years of bombing another country in the Middle East.
Do you think climate change is a big problem? Do you think that the amount of power consumed by information technology globally is a terrifying figure in the face of anthropogenic climate change? This is a problem we know how to fix in "tech," and we're working on it.
What exactly is the solution you propose? Jevons paradox is a tough one : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/... It might not please the/. crowd, but I think less-tech and low-tech are the answer to global warming and peak oil.
You might have a point. She's brilliant enough that she's always travelling around the world for conferences, presentations or workshops, so she's doesn't spend enough time here to notice how many morons we have.
You're right, escape velocity at this altitude is 10.9 km/s. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Escape_velocity#List_of_escape_velocities) "Up to 40000km/h" is in the same ballpark, so it's hard to know for sure. Still, 2 orbiting objects could possibly hit each other at a relative speed twice as high as the orbit velocity.
What's the point of a "secure" Android phone? So that only Google can know your position, your credit card number, all your contacts, your search history and all your phone calls?
Just ignore the biggest problems (oil dependence and climate change), concentrate on everything else, and say it all looks good! Technology needs an imperial fuckton of energy (mostly from oil, gas and coal) for sometimes dubious results that don't do much, if anything, to improve our quality of life (Pokemon Go, Bitcoins,...). Let's not forget that technology isn't science, and that we shouldn't do everything just because we can.

It's the same thing for the fappable column in the employees table. What if it's winter and she only wears thick jumpers?
So it would be fair and square to invade the US now, exterminate 90% of the population and enslave the rest?
ln(157/35)/ln(10)~0.65 ;)
So : 0.65 order of magnitude
Just curious. What don't you like about 500px?

My CEO is a she, and she's one of the most brilliant and intelligent person I know.
I'd fire the whole middle management staff, though.
You seem to be intelligent, know your subject and write good arguments.
Could I kindly ask you to leave Slashdot?
