Not bribed, PAID. Being paid is the only reason most adults do anything hard. It doesn't fucking matter if it "loses touch with what education should be" - all that matters is RESULTS. If it improves the children's grades more than other incentives of the same costs, it should be done.
I downloaded swype for my Nexus One and haven't looked back. It's so much faster than the old virtual keyboard for "hunt and peck". The videos of it don't do it justice. It's much easier and faster than the old ways.
There are other reasons to use kelvins. When doing calculations about the energy and stuff, the temperature needs to be in kelvins. They just didn't bother converting to celsius.
That argument is completely absurd (which makes me wonder the hell modded you +5 insightful!?). Just because you don't like DRM doesn't mean you can use broken logic to argue against it. You cannot blame DRM creators for malware because it doesn't make sense. It would be like blaming and then sentencing the woman for being raped (as she was wearing an attractive outfit). The fuckwits who try and fail to download cracks (and instead end up downloading malware) are entirely responsible for having an infected machine.
Rules do not need to be broken in order for a story to be posted to slashdot (or anywhere). If there was a processor ranking list posted to slashdot would you question the story because the processors were not breaking any rules?
"behind the bumper of a car traveling at 28 mph, the impact would feel the same to passengers as an impact traveling at only 5 mph."
That is complete bullshit. Metal Foam might have some cool properties but it isn't fucking magic. It's not possible for it to reduce the impact that much - the bumper just isn't big enough.
How does PC World have any idea of the volume of traffic Google is getting from disgruntled N1 customers? By stories from random people? Yeah, thought so. A
Why do slashdot users insist on perpetuating the myth that the general population is completely clueless about anything hardware? If someone's going to invest $2,580 for a nexus one (or $3780 for an iPhone) chance are they're going to know a decent amount about it. Even if they don't know the particular processor chip inside or what AMOLED means, they'll know that it feels fast and they'll see that the screen is nothing but amazing.
1Ghz isnt overkill. Also, the nexus one DOES have multitouch, its just that the apps preinstalled on the device dont have pinch zoom on them. You can download a browser with pinch zoom whenever you like from the app store. So before you tell me it doesnt have multitouch, keep in mind that it does and this has been confirmed by several people who own the phone.
Its also a good alternative to those who do want an iPhone or droid. Nexus One has double the RAM and processing speed of both those phones and its AMOLED and thinner. Also, apps will soon be able to be stored on the microSD card (http://www.techcrunch.com/2010/01/05/androids-app-storage-limit/) removing the limit talked about in the summary
Why does it matter if it's locked or not? You should only be concerned with what carrier you intend to use (and if it works on it). Only hippies want unlocked phones.
Droid has the same resolution as the shadow. The physical size of the screen is irrelevant. Also, millions of Windows Mobile handsets have the same UI and hardware spec (because some are the same model), unless you mean that all different windows handsets are different - a tautology!
If it's almost all luck then why is this line so straight (just one example)? http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/54/poker-beats-brags-variance/axxit-100nl-hu-562546/
/me quietly waits for the ignorant peoples on slashdot to claim that poker isnt a game of skill.

Exactly, this isn't fragmentation at all.
It's myspace all over again!
If the owner doesn't want to buy another xbox, it would be wise to sell the controllers or give them to a friend.
The same reason you'd buy a coffin for a dead person.
The controller isn't broken, why would I throw it away?

I don't understand metres, they're too complicated. Thank god they used the postage stamp method of measuring.

How? If it's so obviously invalid, why are so many big corporations paying Kodak?
Eh? Whats wrong with videos?
However, sticking it on a laptop is.

521MB RAM vs 256MB RAM
800x480 vs 480x320
1Ghz vs 600Mhz
5MP vs 3MP
AMOLED vs TFT
To top it off the nexus one is a slimmer device. Need I say anymore? The iPhone is no longer king! Hoorah!

Where did you get the idea that WVGA is common for cellphones? Only some of the most recent top end phones have WVGA.
