  1. Outsourcing employers on Replaced by Outsourcing -- What's a Geek to Do? · · Score: 1

These employers should not be allowed to get any patents or copyright protection for work done overseas. This intellictual property was not done on American soil and should not garner the same rights as work done in the states.

There are ample people in the states that are qualified enough to fill any of the so called "highly qualified" jobs everyone says we don't have employees for.

But what I am seeing is that since the US gov't doesn't care where (or even if) they get the tax dollars from, they will be short of tax dollars when all the US jobs are gone to overseas companies. Wonder where that leaves us? Enter service employee of the month at your local BK, MCD's, etc. These will be the only jobs remaining, thanks to the gov't.

Or better yet, make these companies pay a PENALTY for using non-U.S workers.

Another thing that really drives me nuts, we have all these workers for which companies need to have from OUTSIDE the U.S. because the labor force here doesn't have enough skilled people to do the work. This is complete and udder BS.

There are alot of non-U.S citizens working here because our GOVERNMENT let them because corporations WHINED about it. Now, we have like 7-8 percent Unemployment. Take out all the non-U.S workers, and we have NO UNEMPLOYMENT!!!!! Amazing how that works, eh?

The biggest problem with replication is that you don't realize that there already exists a product that does EXACTLY what you are bitching about.

For the past 5 years or so, Informix (remember them?, now IBM) has had "time based" replication, where the "time" of the transaction dictates who's data is more current and gets to update the replicants. It means that the systems have to be "sync'd" with NTP to maintain that everyone is saying the same thing, but other than that, you get replication across all replicants, because they are ALL masters.

Next time, please check into this before making this type of statement.

Is it me, or does NO ONE here understand compilers? You can do exactly that, make. The biggest problem is that everything will be made "32" bit unless there is "64" bit code to handle all the nuances with the 64 bit platform (integers are wider, etc). Even if you say "Use 64 bits when I compile", if there is no handlers, the code might be compiled 64 bit, but the executable will work with 32 bit only. This means that you will effectively be moving 32 extra bits around that aren't even being used.
