I wonder what an examination in one of the most violent gun cultures on earth would show?

Mostly what the USA shows is that...

I know it's fun to think of the USA as full of a bunch of gun toting maniacs, but it isn't really that bad. I live in Texas and most of the people I know have never even touched a gun. It doesn't hold a candle to most African nations, or some European ones. Sadly, most of those countries don't seem to have a strong paintball culture.

What would be a lot more useful is to see what percentage of violent criminals in prison have ever shot a paintball gun, then compare that to the national average.

No, the issue is that only half of the Office applications use ribbons. They converted half of the applications in a suite to a completely different interface, and left the other half as is. Microsoft Office 14 will have a lot more of the interfaces converted to ribbons, which will help things be a lot more internally consistent.

If a new interface is better, then great, move all of your applications over to it. This moving a couple of applications over to it every few years just leaves it as that "other interface" that is too much effort to move to.

Libertarians may be historically grouped in with Republicans, but their policies have little to do with current Republican policy. While Texas may have a majority of Republicans, a very small percentage of that is Libertarian, and there is little to in Texas policies to indicate otherwise.

Education in Texas may not be great, but it's not bad either. In fact, it's dead center of US rankings.

I'm sorry? How about the update that they pushed out a week ago that gives you a high probability of the game locking up if a match connection fails? They pushed it out on a Friday night, and then told people to wait until Monday because the developers were at home for the weekend. Now it's the following Saturday and there is still no patch to fix the patch.

Saying I am not happy with their support is an understatement.

I can confirm as someone that owns the game that the multiplayer is horribly broken. For most people is mostly works. For some people, like me, 90% of connections to multiplayer games fail to connect to at least one user, which means you get dropped from the game. And thanks to a patch pushed out a full week ago, if you get dropped then you have ~75% chance of the game just locking up. Awesome.

The pirates are having fun with the game playing against each other, I can not. However, I can (and do) make sure that all of my friends know the issues that I'm having so none of them want to touch it (despite them all commenting that it looks cool).

I just installed a fresh OS and a copy of the game, and the issues persist. I really hate Stardock.

The only thing I care about (as a gamer) is whether the game plays (excluding obvious stuff like the game should be fun :P ), and lately a lot of games just don't run. :/ I can't tell you how aggravating it is to buy a game, install it, and find out it crashes instantly with some error code related to the DRM.

Funny you should mention that because I'm one of the many people that are having serious issues using Demigod. The single player works mostly as advertised. But the multiplayer uses a new P2P system, and for some unknown reason I can't connect to 90% of people. And if you can't connect to someone, then you can't play in their game. A patch they pushed out a week ago changed it so that about 75% of the time if you can't connect, the game locks up (this affects everyone). Yes, it locks up, and they've done nothing about it for the past week.

Granted, these issues appear to be the result of absolutely terrible network code instead of DRM, but it still pisses me off. I've lost hours fiddling with settings to no avail. Today I went from my Windows XP install to a fresh install of Windows 7 x64 RC1. I literally installed the OS and then Demigod, and I'm having the exact same issues. I hate them.

The iPhone uses a single chip to perform several functions, including GSM communications. It would be non-trivial to simply replace this chip with another one. It would also require writing brand new drivers for the new chip, which as was discovered when they changed to the newer 3G chip from 2G, is also non-trivial. Apple considered making the initial version CDMA, but now that they have a world GSM market that they are catering to with an intentionally limited product line, a CDMA make no sense.

Cat5 will leave you with a hard time filling even 400mbit

No, transfer speeds will NOT vary for two cables with the same 1000BASE-T link and no Ethernet transmission errors. I'd suggest you get some hardware that lets you monitor for Ethernet transmission errors (not TCP/IP errors) and run your test again.

A 100M Cat5e cable will transfer at the same rate as a 100M Cat6 cable IF there are no transmission errors. In my experience, a well terminated Cat5e cable does not get regular Ethernet transmission errors with a 1000BASE-T link.

This is absolutely nonsense. 1Gbps Ethernet is 1Gbps Ethernet. The signaling from the Ethernet controllers on both sides will be identical no matter what kind of cabling you are using. The only thing that will affect practical transmission speeds is if you are getting transmission errors in the Ethernet frames and they have to be resent. Heck, you could probably get a solid 1000BASE-T connection on coat hangers if they were short enough.
