you wondered if you were about to be showered in exploding glass. you've obviously never blown up a CRT. The inside is a vacuum. The glass falls in, it doesn't blow out. (unless you are holding the monitor above your head when it explodes)
they make a REALLY great noise when you smash them. *sigh* I miss working in my schools electronics lab.

Now that we're no longer constrained by a record label, we've decided to personally upload Ghosts I, the first of the four volumes, to various torrent sites, because we believe BitTorrent is a revolutionary digital distribution method, and we believe in finding ways to utilize new technologies instead of fighting them.
We encourage you to share the music of Ghosts I with your friends, post it on your website, play it on your podcast, use it for video projects, etc. It's licensed for all non-commercial use under Creative Commons.
I've been trying to download the flac version of this album all night, and the servers are already struggling to keep up. now that the sites been slashdotted, im sure my download experience will be even better!
actually, i'm impressed, this website succumbed to the slashtod effect 5 hours before it even made the front page. this year zero style time displacement stuff hurts my brain!
If you pay close attention to my post, I am in no way ripping U of W.
I simply state that not one person I know calls it the 'MIT of the North', and I know quite a few people who go there. This leads me to believe that its a BS line made up to sell an article.
I'm sure it's a very good school.
But why call it the "MIT of the North"? thats like announcing "hey, we play second fiddle to MIT", "we're not quite as good, but we're close."
what happens if a person makes a mistake filling out the paperwork declaring that they are, in fact, alive? will the clerk sitting behind the desk hand the papers back to you, stating that you have not given sufficient proof that you are alive.
at that point, i would likely flip out and start eating brains. Not her brain, mind you, because if she fails to realize that standing in front of her kinda proves that I am alive; thats not a brain worth eating.
My old system that I used for the past 5 years had 320 megs of ram, and ran at 500mzh.
I never ran into problems using that system for running photoshop 7 (with 100mb+ files), cubase 3, audiomulch (with 10 or more VSTs running) Adobe Audition 2, Premier.
sure, i had to wait a few seconds to apply a filter, but thats no big deal. Rendering files was painfully slow, but i could do that at night while i slept.
I never had any problems actually being productive with such an underpowered system.
what specs does vista require to reach the same level of productivity?
titanium dioxide IS white. it is a very strong opaque white.
ever notice how damn hard it is to rub in sun screen with titanium dioxide. you always see that white paste on your skin. yet sunscreen made with zinc oxide (a translucent white pigment) absorbs so easily.
that sounds like marketing PR for "we used cheep materials to build this, so after a few years, the plastic will start to break down."
this seems odd to me.
correct me if i am wrong, but I was under the impression that LEDs produced a very narrow range of wavelengths, making proper 'white light' difficult, so most (not all) white LEDs were actually blue LEDs with a yellow filter, tricking your eye into seeing 'white'. when the plastic starts to break down and turn yellow, it's like adding a second yellow filter in front of the light.
if you look straight down at a cheep white LED (while its off) you can see this yellow filter. No other colour of LED has a filter that you can see.
if they really wanted to fix this problem, they would throw in a few red and green LEDs along with the white ones, to balance out the colour right from the start. i don't know why they haven't thought of this. Red and green LEDs are usually cheaper that white or blue.
the internet has made direct human interaction obsolete.
why would i want to waste a whole day hanging out with anyone, when I can just wait for you to add the highlights to facebook, where i can skim over your day in 30 seconds or less.
Unlike relationships, internet porn does not come with a mother-in-law.
And in the real world, no one comes by to mod up every every insightful comment you might come across, the internet does this! So critical thinking is another skill to add to that list.
"people can get something and reverse engineer it no matter what."
obviously you've never encountered the mysterious black resin.
You try to figure out a device, and this little blob of black plastic gets in your way. when you try to pop it off, it destroys the IC it was protecting.
the answer to piracy would therefore be to dip all our electronics into molten black resin. reverse engineer that!
i find that after a person is a victim of identity theft, they are far more likely to take privacy seriously.
As a true friend, the best thing you can do to encourage friends to take privacy seriously is steal their credit card info, buy yourself lots of nice things, steal some deeds and sell their house and cars. Sell their personal info to advertising companies, and send any material that documents your friends doing some suspicious or potentially illegal activity to the local authorities.
a few years later when they get out of jail and get their financial life back together, they won't take privacy for granted ever again.
Of course, there is no reason to let your friends know that it was you, who so lovingly taught them this valuable life lesson.
kids, just go out at night and smash the things. the adults won't notice that they aren't working!
I remember hearing once that kids were using these ultrasonic sounds as ring tones, so they could text each other exam questions, and their teachers would have no idea this was going on. if this isn't true, then kids should start doing this!
this can easily go both ways.
kids can hear what adults cant. use this to take advantage of old people. its only fair!
The European Union Commissioner for the Internal Market has today proposed extending the copyright term for musical recordings to 9.5 years.
there...fixed it for you.....
oh? what? you were being serious? but, honestly, how can this be a good idea for the people? yes, I understand the industry is giving you a lot of money to make these crazy laws, but really, the people, who elected you into office, are also giving you a lot of money to look out for their best interests. are the bribes from industry lobbyists really a bigger source of income than taxes?
would you believe me if I told you that I am an English teacher.
Yikes!
I, of all people, should have caught that one.
if my university handed over my private information, I would have been quite upset. but then again, I used the schools computer lab for most of my content downloading, using the 'student1' login and password, that seems to work on nearly every school network I've ever used. so they had nothing on me!
if it is illegal to wipe these records, whats next? will it be illegal for me to delete content on my computer, too? will universities ban TOR? what if someone else was on my computer? it it my fault that the world knows my password is 'qwerty'?
I don't understand why universities dont just 'loose' these records. Is there a legal reason why records of student's online activity must be recorded? My university had a massive drive where all students could temporarily store their data. the drives were wiped clean every Friday. why not just wipe the students internet usage records every week or so? I can't see what use that information is to the University, aside from handing it over to RIAA lawyers to screw over the very students who pay to go to that university.
it is not my intention to be karma whoring in this quote, but I would like to (mis)quote Richard Stallman and a Larry Lessig, because I believe their two points are relevant to this discussion.
"digital technology is not causing problems for copyright law. copyright law is causing problems for digital technology." -RS
"In the past, the laws were changed to adapt to new technology. with digital media, for the first time, technology is being forced to adapt to the law" -LL
so we are violating copyright law. well fuck you! Your law gets in the way of my ability to download whatever content i want. if you don't want your content to be stolen, stop making it. honestly, i would be perfectly happy to never see another major studio put out a movie, tv show or album. I can hear better music in the local bars, if i search hard enough, i can find great content on youtube or dailymotion (the TED talks are my current favourite) and independent films can be good sometimes. if (...more accurately 'when') your business model dies, a better one will replace it. I would rather experience amateur content made with love and passion that see some mass produced cookie-cutter garbage.
I'm an artist, many of my friends are fellow artists, filmmakers, and musicians. piracy has never harmed any of our careers. most of us freely give our content away. if anything, the added publicity helps us.
In Asia, they count numbers in blocks of 4, rather than 3.
I still get confused when my boss tells me my paycheque is going to be "two hundred then thousands" I respond with "Just say 2 million", to which they say "counting in 3's is difficult"
in short, it's not wrong. just different from what your used to.
do they have another website with JUST the obscene happenings?
I just hit the hazard lights.
tailgaters tend top back off quick when youve got your 4 way flashers on.
they make a REALLY great noise when you smash them. *sigh* I miss working in my schools electronics lab.

I already have a legit OEM copy of vista I'm not using, why would I want another copy to not use?

I have friends who go to The U of Waterloo, and not one has EVER called that school "the MIT of the North"
when asked, "how's your University", most of them just shrug and say "meh, it's alright, its a University."
MIT of the North? who said that? the Marketing department for Waterloo?

its called a diode.
just hope they don't accidentally put them in backwards.
I would recommend having a friend test out one of these units before you use it yourself. don't use a close friend, though. just in case...

I always wonder why English Canadians are so stupid and racist like you !
there. fixed it for you.
Good job demonstrating that it's the English who are the stupid ones.
