Why exactly do you find that the given benchmarks are not useful? Do you think that we should care about how the chip could possibly perform in a scenario that accounts for a tiny proportion of all real use(your 64-bit suggestion) or that perhaps we should care about the use that these chips will see the vast majority of the time(32-bit apps on a 32-bit OS)?
The review mentions this on the last page anyway. I too would be more interested in these low power chips. The ultra low power X2 would have to be the most interesting proposition for a home server... 35 Watts or something?
Cooling is not related to temperature, it is related to the amount of heat being created by the chip which is roughly equal to the amount of power being drawn by the chip.
Heat != Temperature. Schools really need to start teaching people something.
You're thinking of the temperature they're running at, not the amount of heat they're putting out.
The maximum clockspeed the processor can manage with some stability is dictated by it's temperature. Intel are saying that if you keep the chip at that temperature it will run happily at that frequency.
I think the 5.something GHz power consumption was something like 250 Watts, now for that you better have either some very very serious air cooling or else water/peltier etc.
Anything above the absolute bottom of the barrel will run Aero just fine. Something like an integrated Gefore 6100, 6150, 6200, 7300TC or a radeon X200M or X1150. Those cards will barely sip a couple of watts more than the lowest end intel integrated graphics chip.
Troll.

No, but perhaps they would have had access to it for testing purposes ? Moron.

Vista - iPod Killer?

The release version has been all over the net for months, do you honestly think apple hadn't been testing with it?
Well there would be the standard 5700 which is a step up. Then the 5800, the 5800XT the 5900LE, the 5900 and the 5900XT. They're all the same architecture and all faster.
5700LE - x700 implies middle of the road for the 5xxx series.
LE implies crippled with thalf the pipelines of a non-LE.
Don't make me laugh. I dont know anyone who doesnt have a few complaints about that steaming pile. Including my younger sisters and any non-techies I know. They all have frustrations with it.
Not saying that it's bulletproof, but PeerGuardian will limit your exposure to 99% of the companies that would be looking for your IP address to send you nasty letters.
Nice work Anonymous Coward, two small problems.
You've obviously never heard of the "dual layer DVD", something which has been in common use for a very long time. It has 8.5GB storage capacity.
You've also obviously managed to avoid every single article, of the hundreds out there, which all point out 1 thing. The cell does not have 8 cores. It has 1 core and 7 SPEs. The Xbox 360 on the other hand has 3 cores.
I take it you're looking forward to your "real time rendered, Toy-story quality graphics" on your PS3 just like you were when the PS2 came out?
Get off my internet.
How did you decide that only IE is vulnerable to the "risky" results that one might find by following these links ?
Plenty of these sites will be camouflaged as "free screen savers" "free virus scanners" or "free music downloads". IE won't save people from being stupid and downloading software install packages from untrustworthy sources.
Could anyone explain to me why Skype is so popular ?
Is it simply a case of they marketed the best and had the easiest to use software ?
They certainly aren't any good when it comes to following standards (SIP).
Their voice quality is certainly much worse than a good SIP connection, or MSN, or Ventrilo and it's probably even worse than Teamspeak.
There's amazingly high latency in most Skype calls I've ever tried.
So tell me, why is it so damn popular ?
What is he doing here ?
Being a moron and doing some blatantly obvious trolling. Oh poor baby downloaded the linux source and can't figure out how to "Click-> next -> next ->" on windows xp. I wonder why....
Maybe it is underclocking it, but the GPU sees the reduction in temperature and lowers the fan speed accordingly ?
I would suggest finding an extremely GPU-bound benchmark and running it before and after your underclock attempt to try and make sure.
God forbid they actually do some *research* and *invent* something *useful* ?
How can you say that it wouldn't be great for them to have a network of satellites that watch the globe for this activity tirelessly day and night, rather than having some poor tired geologists staring at seismometeres ?
I'm sure you're against educating people in the third world because other people are starving etc. Please think about things a little bit before you call them a waste of money.
DRM has not spurred the development of P2P. Everyone wanting quick easy access to *FREE* music has spurred P2P.
What the hell makes you think there's any correlation between the cost of the player and the cost of the disc ?!?
Didn't Novell anounce the release of a shiny new docx import filter a week or two ago?
It's pronounced et setera. How did you manage to get through your life without hearing someone pronounce it properly ?

I think somehow that the latter is more useful.

You're a troll, please go away. Not even MS could be dumb enough to do that.

Industry experts? Please. You mean the ones with the most advertising.
This article was obviously written by an absolute amateur. There are almost no facts at all in the steaming pile of rhetoric.
