Chuck Norris and Mr. T. both walked into a building, and the building immediatly exploded because it could not contain the sheer awesomeness of both of them.
Dude, check this, it's called EVE-online, www.eve-online.com, when you die, you lose everything that's on your ship and the ship, all the modules(equipement) you worked long and hard to buy are lost, half of them destroyed, the other half left for attackers to salvage. The ship is destroyed, altought it is possible to buy insurance for 20% the price of the ship, some ship are just uninsurable and you have to renew the insurance contract every 3 months.
Furthermore, to be damn sure no 12 year old plays this game : when your ship is destroyed, you end up in your escape pod, that can also be destroyed, if that is destroyed, then you end up in the station where you purchased a copy of your body, a clone, and you have to buy another clone, should you forget to buy a clone, the next time your escape pod gets destroyed : this is it, you also lose all your skills, period, done, no way back.
And, yes, you can battle for control of player owned space stations much like as in UO you battle for the control of player owned houses and castles.
What Mueller wants is the legal authority to comb through the backbone data, which is already being siphoned off by the NSA, in order to look for illegal activityLook nhay further, mate!
Too late.... I already hate Google, they are pure EVIL!, they give goverments IP adresses of anonymous bloggers. They also keep logs of IP adresses and searches forever in order to surrender them to more goverments. If they were to be cool, they would buy a country, like hungary or something, move all the servers there and make sure there are no law requiring them to keep info on their users.
As for Apple, don't get me started, I always hated them, they are a record label with close ties with the RIAA. Also, they try to tell me how to store my music just plain wrong!!!
1) RTFM.... yes you have to read the manual, as with anything else in life, you do need a driving license to drive a car right ??
2) If you don't like it, here's the source code, go write the change yourself.... that is the most amazing thing ever, If there is something some1 dosen't like with Ms-Office or Windows, I have to explain to them there isin't anything I can do to help them with thier complaints. And face it, learning C/C++ to modify whatever you don't like is FAR easier then calling Microsoft and ask them to modify this feature just for you because you don't like it and actually getting them to do it.
3) Man pages suck so much it is ridiculous.... true, so does the windows help file, at least I understand MAN pages, and the windows help files assumes I am an Idiot.
4) Coders write programs for their own use, then wonder why no one else uses them.... I use programs I got off the net 4 free, so ur statement is false. I'll even name one... John the Ripper
5) Cryptic 3 letter names for shite I want to use daily.... You mean the same as "dir" in DOS?? Hey your keayboard will last longer and it saves you time if you use them daily:P
6) Command line needed to reconfigure simple shite that should be in a simple gui control panel.... Under windows everyting is under this regedit thingy thing, I don't know which files are associated to that, When it is a simple.cfg file, it is easy to backup, also the day windows dosen't boot and you wanna edit you registry.... you won't be able to also, If you mess up the registry the you mess up the entire system... pardon me to say but your windows registry is FAR more obscure than simple text files....
7) Command line needed for anything.... It should always be that way, a mouse should be nothing more then a 3d shooting device
8) Wireless support, Linux doesn't (this is an example people, read it and treat it as such) work with wireless right out of the box, it needs one to delve into it's guts to get it working..... see ubuntu
9) OpenOffice may or may not take an hour to load (see previous post) but it does automatically default to a file type for saving that MS Office can not read, thus making user generated files unreadable by MS Office, with whom 99% of the people you need to talk will not understand or be able to open.... guess what the open standar for documents is now, it is microsoft thats not following here period.
10) Being more concerned with a philosophy than with usability.... no I belive we are more concerned about functionnality than usability, I mean you can use the OS but it does nothing good, example : try to schedule a shutdown under WinXP... u can't...
11) Rude and condescending user base... You seem as rude as I am.
I don't know about GIMP, because I am not into graphics editing and stuff, but trust me, OpenOffice NO longuer takes an hour to load, let alone 2 seconds, and the features in it largely surpasses all that I or any N00B needs.
And YES!, LINUX WORKS out of the box better then you think, let's compare shall we : let's say you wanna install this firefox thing and you are a N00b
Windows 9X/XP/Vista: 1. Open IE 2. type "Firefox" somewhere, hope that wasen't a spyware bar, and if it was the adress bar, you should get an MSN search result(hoping your browser isin't highjacked), 3. Find out where on the page you have to download the file, click on it 4. It is asking you where to save it, you don't know anything, you just press save, GOD forbid it is not on your desktop or your desktop isin't so full with unused icons that it will be out of view and you will NEVER find. 5. Understanding that there is a difference between downloading and installing and knowing that when the download is finished you have to install, so you find your firefoxinstallerwhateveritisnamedwhereeveritis.exe and click on it, nothing happens, this isint a web page, it's your desktop you have to double click, you manage to run it somehow anyways. 6. Windows protection center comes up, tells you that running executable files may harm your computer, you don't know half of what that means but you know for certain that your computer is fubared enough, still you click the *run anyways*, by mistake,... then norton comes up, tells you the same thing..... 7. The installer asks where you want it installed, the only answer you know is : "on my computer" and you wonder, earlier, it was asking you where you wanted it downloaded why dosen't it remember the same place, wasen't that thing worth 300$.
Linux: 1.Open Synaptic(if you don't know what that is, : it's the equivalent of appwiz.cpl*add/remove programs*) except you get a list of all available softwares for your distro(check or unchecked), find firefox, (yes there is a search box,) 2. check the box next to firefox 3.Press *OK* or *Apply*, Synaptic downloads, and install whatever you checked, also downloads and installs dependencies, also places shortcuts in your start menu, and yes you can also uninstall in the same way.
Grats, you are done!! Which was easier for an average joe do you think?
BTW, the best things in life are free... and yes, I installed Ubuntu then KDE and my webcam works out of the box with Kopete(MSN)

As far as ethics goes, It can be pretty simple, let's say think of the emails as personnal home mail, the network admin should know it is not ethical to read somebody else his emails. The same goes for documents in the home folder of a user on a computer or network drive. What more can I say, private data is private data.
I would do whatever is necessary to diplomatically end all wars.
I would outlaw the selling of bullets, which woulden't compromise the second ammendment. One could still bare unloaded arms.
I would take a bunch of boats, go to Darfur, bring back every1, get them healthcare and a job in a field where we can export products, therefor making the value of the dollar come up.... creating a total win/win situation.
I would create a group in charge of policing and sentencing corrupted police officers.
I would make criminals work off their debt to society while in prison.
Healthcare for all.
Complete re-thinking of the justice system, making sure the rich can't get away any more then the middle or lower class people.

It's to her to raise her kids not the comp, she should sit with them and explain instead of relying on the computer for education.
But if that is really necessary, a keylogger, but that could easialy be defeated, by killing the process or copy/pasting letter from the alphabet instead of typing.
Buying another computer and using it as a netnanny proxy server would be defeated easily by anonymous web proxy servers.
I Guess that she could build an Ivory tower Beowulf cluster with logical raid 5 disk across the network, then download and mirroir the internet on her cluster, but only the non-porn websites and then connect her kids to that copy of the internet instead of the real one. I think thats the only way. Of course there is the go to a friend's house and burn porn on a DVD loophole. Well I guess she would have to prevent her kids from leaving the house.
Or she could take 5 minutes a day to spend with her kids and talk about what they did on the internet and at school, you know : *PARENTING*, but the Beowulf cluster must seem a better an easier solution to her, and I think building it would be frikin' cool.
It's not about making everyone happy or not, there *ARE* laws that prevent unauthorised acces to your computer and microsoft this time broke them. Someone has to be held accountable and end up throwing chairs in his jail cell. Some hackers get 5 years for breaking into one computer, this is far worse. Unfortunatly, I do not own a windows license so I can't sue them for all they are worth, but I sure hope someone does it, you know teach them a 50 bilion lesson.
So this is friday evening, I'm about to leave work when I decided to check slashdot one last time before I go, and then I see it, the headline : Jack Thompson commited suicide. Bit by bit they take your rights away, starts whit free speech, then heabeus corpus. You do know that next is the right to live.
Actually, Bush has plenty of time to listen to all the slashdot crowd complain. He spent so far 418 days of his 6.5+ years of presidency in vacation. See : http://politics.netscape.com/story/2007/08/10/bush -creeping-up-on-reagan-as-the-vacation-president Now I don't think Vista is slowing down network traffic while listening to music to send hash-info about what you are listening to the RIAA, because : I don't think the RIAA would be smart enough to think of that or know what to do with hash-info, let alone info. But it's just my opinion, while we may not have the source code of Vista to know what it is doing, I'm pretty sure it's either somewhere in the EULA:P, or VISTA is just defective by desing.
