Better yet was what a friend brought to a water fight and I have been unable to find anywhere despite looking. It was effectively one of those things attatched to about a 6 litre backpack. It could fill a waterbomb in one shot, outranged all our supersoakers and carried more ammo. In addition to this the person carrying the thing shot for his country at under 18 level. The rest of us got very wet.

Tou want moderated stories, I would recomend visiting kuro5hin. The procedure for stories is slightly different- you submit a story to the submissions queue, and if 5% of the users vote for the story, it gets put on the front page.

The other benifit of the site is that Rusty will delete the trolls, making things much easier to read. Its liabilities are that voting on the submissions are not good for news stories, it has a much smaller readership (1500 or so ids at last count), and Rusty is still fixing some of the old bugs. Anyway, swings and roundabouts, you don't like /., no one forces you to read it.

I have not seen one broadcast outside the internet that comes close to supporting the CSSDVD- which most of us agree is a good thing. I believe that better publicity for us is necessary on this as on many other topics or public opinion will be so strongly against us that we do not have a chance of winning this battle (yes, I believe opinion does affect the law- and we NEED that lever to not be almost exclusively in the other direction.

One problem is that by its very nature, the open source community is not too keen on style over substance- butwe need some style.

I do not believe that we have ever fully trusted the media since Orson Welles great broadcast of War of the Worlds! I do not trust the media to tell the complete truth and I do not think many other people do either- what one must do to get an unbiassed opinion is consult multiple sources!

All that said, I believe that this technology is a blow against the right to know and "journalistic impartiality" as it can be so easily abused. I believe that the technology should be banned for any "news" broadcast- although fitting something to your tv of which you have control- and not the "impartial" broadcaster might be useful to remove all the junk adverts.

Agreed- as one of the bullied who has been known to turn, and having known a few more, the bright and bullied who have been pushed too far are far more dangerous. I, however, never took out my temper out on the weak- and neither did my friends- the bullies make far better targets for relieving stress and no one ever complained (one one occasion the confessed instincts of one of my teachers on walking in were either that she wanted to cheer or to leave the room and let events take their natrual course). Another method I used for dealing with my temper and anger and one that many could benifit from is takeing martial arts lessons. My beliefs on dealing with bullies are to let the punishment fit the crime- bring back corporal punishment, or better yet use ritual humilliation.
