  1. thanks for letting me know. I was preparing to evaluate linux distros for personal use, and mint I thought was a top contender but if they are such dicks that they actively try to not let me use google as a search bar then they can go fuck themselves (even though I would uninstall and use chrome anyways). Who knows maybe next update they won't allow you to even install chrome without sigfaulting.

    I live an hour away from toronto. It really is littered with hipsters, and it seems like the ripple effect is starting to make it near my hometown.

  3. Uh, $500 for a new video card does not make it obsolete in a year unless you were talking about a decade and a half ago. I bought a $250-$300 (560 TI)card early 2011. Early last year I had to change my graphics from Ultra to High (mainly due to upgrading to a 2560x1440 display) . This summer I had to lower it from high to medium, with the latest games coming out this fall I now am starting to get poor framerates even on medium so I will probably pick up another $250-300 card this christmas and should be good for the next 3.5 years.

    Same here. I am the QA IT And development division. Every PC belongs to an employee. I don't have an isolated network. We only a 10 person company, but a lot of companies rely on us to have high uptime. I do the best I can do (creating images before updates, etc), but at the end of the day got to throw the dice and hope it doesn't end up snake eyes as it still takes time to recover..

    just depends on where you live.I live in a medium sized city and I probably have about a dozen choices. of course all of them boil down to using either rogers or bells last mile line but price is still way cheaper.

    oh shh, you will get a bunch of the naysayers saying "Firefox memory issues have been fine since verison x"
    Even though no matter what system I am on fresh install or not, windows or mac, pretty much within 1-2 weeks the computer becomes unusable because firefox is open(and the only addon I have enables is adblock).. Kill task it and my computer is back to normal.
    On this computer chrome has been open for about 2 months now with a normal amount of memory usage.

    that's funny, because my online account for my credit card shows pending transactions and preauths within minutes of completing the transaction, and is incorporated into the "available credit".

    yeah I don't know what you are talking about. As I would say 99.9% of the internet ISN'T static web pages. I just did view source on this page, and 1/3 of the content is JS.

    maybe, but the unfortunate thing is real life doesn't work that way just because microsoft says so. We have customers still using XP (usually older people, or government employees) so unfortunately we have to still support ie6. So what we do is support our core apps for ie6 but any new features/new apps we only support ie9+

    well the release of ios 8.0.1 was a joke with the bugs, but 8.1 makes sense since the main reason for the release is to include apple pay (if it was just bug fixes would be 8.0.3)

    yeah I would like to see that as well. I think if that is true, is because they are investing money into growing it instead of going for short term profits. They have added a lot over the last couple years.

    scalable is the reason, also not having to manage your own hardware is also a bonus. We just don't have the time to run down to the colo office to replace a hard drive.
    Our amazon bill is approx $180/month for about 6 servers (reserved pricing) no way we would be running hardware that cheap if we were doing it ourselves.

    not only that, if you only visit the site once every 6 or 8 months or so, then you have to remember when you last used the site, and what was the phrase at that point in time (although this problem exists for any rotating password)

    Pretty much the reason I use last pass, don't have to ever worry about it again.. yeah yeah 1 point of failure, whatever.

    my one bank used to have a max password, and didn't allow any special characters either. Never understood why unless it was end up stored plain text in some mainframe fixed length field.

    Oh yes I have been dealing with it, and it sucks, especially since we get 15% of the downloads compared to iOS. We dropped all applications from android except our flagship, and even then it is a couple versions behind our ios app, missing a ton of features.
    Still develop for 2.1 and don't use any features that are newer than that

    SO if all it is is basically an ini hack, and it works flawlessly, what would be a reason that the developer would not have it enabled by default? (And I am assuming not to release DLC later since they left the code in the game)
    If it was unstable, or sucked I could understand why.. but if they had it working I don't follow the logic.

    Mine also shows kilometres until empty. The funny part is I know that I can drive 75km+ even though the readout says "0"
    I have driven to and from work 3 full days with my yellow gas light on (20km each way) and still have at least 5 litres in the tank.

    I just started a keto diet a month ago eating nothing but butter, steak, eggs, cheese, bacon, chicken, and green beans.. I am already down 20lbs (fair enough most of it water weight), and 2 belt notches tighter.

    Yes I am morbidly obese, i have tried things in the past but my stomach was a bottomless pit. It was actually here on slashdot where I first heard about keto. I did more research, and this is the first time I have tried a diet where I am actually not fucking starving all the time. Tried pure calorie counting in the past but always was hungry.
    Now after a normal sized meal of steak with a slab of butter on it, and steam greened beans with another slab of butter on that, it fills me up.
    It is awesome that I can now eat awesome good foods, that are actually healthy (although not perceived healthy in normal society because OMG FAT AND CHOLESTEROL) 70% of my calories come from fat, 25% from protein, 5% from carbs (and most of carbs from natural occurring in vegetables).
