Blimey. I used to go to that site daily for my fix. Jon De Hartog IIRC. (Forgive me if my spelling is off or I am wrong, my memory is not as good as it used to be,,,Get that site back!
I think people have to take other browsers apart from Edge into account too. Take Chrome, which hasn't been mentioned at all in the summary, that browser is plugged again and again on Google services to the point you feel obligated to install it. I do usually have multiple browsers installed anyway in case of a problem which would affect my browser.
I personally have gone back to Firefox as I just prefer it over other options, my PC is fast enough to render at a speed that I don't notice the difference between browsers. Edge only comes up if I start an 'app' from the start menu and it is quickly discarded back where it came from once the job is done.
Can we please all try to bury the myth once and for all that gaming is niche or a childs hobby. Jokes about people in basements aside, isn't it time gaming was recognised as a legitimate hobby?
This sort of tool would be useful for people who have permits to drive but are at risk from epileptic seizures or other brain related medical conditions. A car slowing down, pulling onto the hard shoulder and turning on hazard lights as well as calling medical services would be a real boon to people who have this condition but constantly worry about blacking out. It may even lower their insurance to get the device retrofitted.
It's all quite useful but the real question is, is there that many deaths / accidents because of drowsiness?
I would think there are statistically higher causes of accidents, like driving without due care and attention or drunk driving.
The tech is good, provided it stops there. We don't need a slew of sensors monitoring our driving habits under the guise of promising lower insurance. Supposing you are in your vehicle and pull into a lay by to have a nap. Is this device going to report you for being asleep at the wheel?
What happens if and when the device malfunctions and you get reported for being asleep at the wheel while speeding down a freeway? How would you fight the hike in insurance? Would you even know or be informed by the insurance company why your insurance premium has spiked?
Is Facebook integration. Could you imagine being on your Steambox, playing Modern Warfare 7 using the Oculus Rift and suddenly a message pops up "John has posted something : Having a Kebab for dinner, yum!", not only would it be distracting, it would be annoying, and I bet a Facebook account would be compulsory.
If I were invested in the whole Xbox ecosystem I would resent having to shell out more for a device that basically brings nothing to the table as a gamer.
Looking across at my PS4 'rivals' they basically get a more powerful console for a lot less money. To add insult to injury Xbox fanbois try and point out the flaws in the PS4 ecosystem, flaws which the XBox has too.. "Look, you have to pay for multiplayer now!", which although is a new added expense, was ALWAYS an expense for the XBox.
Microsoft have already tweaked the XBox OS (Whatever its called) to reduce the CPU and memory usage of this device, but in doing so they admit that their console is the weaker of the two spec wise. All the way resisting the overwhelming public demand that they need to drop the requirement for the device and instead pushing their "living room agenda". In this day and age people are price conscious, Microsoft forgets this.
Sure there are exclusives that tempt people to drop cash on an XBox, but the financial difference is so large, this "exclusive" system doesn't have the pull it once had. Microsoft needs to drop the mandatory add on requirement before its too late.
I assume that if all these governments from around the globe have successfully 'blocked' all these nasty web sites offering pirated content, then it stands to reason that the recording industries tax on blank media no longer would be appropriate or relevant, so we can have cheaper blank media again?
Thanks for naming all the popular sites I never knew about, keep up the good work, I tip my hat to the USTR:D
By the way, if you close these sites, any chance you could do another report so I don't have to go to the fuss of looking for infringing content?
I have a feeling this is not about raking in more cash and creating onflicting standards, but about reducing Piracy. They probably want to make a format that has the capacity to hold a lot of data without being used to clone Blu-Ray discs. It stands to reason that if a normal Blu-Ray player cannot read this format, then it oculdn't play a bootlegged version of an ISO downloaded.
and wont this result in a bloody battle where no clear winner emerges victorious? What could hurt Microsoft the most, more than any GNU/Linux distribution is consumer apathy. People sticking to XP, even if it goes on to be unsupported is a real danger. Microsoft's biggest challenge is itself. Also, we don't need brave distributions or Linux companies forcing the issue, we need a brave company, that has lots of PC's, switching to Linux and forcing the issue. That's when we'll see Microsoft make it's move.
Will the court shrink as time goes on? With the last lawyer standing getting a bonus?

I really enjoy Jim Sterling's videos about Steam Greenlight. I guess now they will be consigned to history,
Actually things have moved on... Now you just press the "Turbo" button on the front of the tower case... ;)

I didn't say I wanted to be considered a serious one, I asked that it is not considered a childs hobby.

...is such a beautiful thing.
Oi.. London isn't the third world... oh... wait.. nvm

May I be one of the first to say to my fellow UK citizens... Welcome to the 20th Century. Oh...wait..Oh well, better late than never.

Now all we need is Windows retail to be a more realistic price too.

VM is Virtual Machine. Go here for a start https://www.virtualbox.org/
All we need now is prosecutions based on real losses and not imaginary figures pulled out the air by lawyers.

Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.
Don't you mean the near past :)

That or make the new recordable format unreadable in any stand alone players..
