    Apple phones are still manufactured by a Chinese company. For that matter, how are these one line of Huawei phones different from literally every other phone manufactured in China to be sold worldwide, including in the US?

    What is special about this particular line of phones that they're not telling us?

    How are you supposed to hide massive security vulnerabilities under the vague guise of plausible deniability if you don't have a giant entrenched pile of garbage as a code base? You thought they kept rotating experienced, ethical developers off the project because of simple managerial incompetence, didn't you? The incompetence story is just more plausible deniability.

    Honestly none of them have to "support" Linux aside from coughing up some documentation. Sending an email to claim they don't have the man power to send an email is a pretty obnoxious way to lie about it.

    Well, sorta. They don't actually try to sabotage 3rd party efforts at least. Purportedly they've even donated some hardware to the guy who works on the Linux driver anyway. They don't recognize his support as official or anything like that. It's sad that this is as good as it gets.

    Other popular pointer device companies that hate Linux so much they spend more effort and man hours drafting an excuse than it would take to just forward the docs:

  19. I know this is probably a lost concept on you, but the idea here is that people will be more capable of admitting to themselves that they are being lied to if they can correlate advertisements with known motives.

    Yea, they will. It will set them down a really dark path. And that's not even the worst part of it, either. The mental scarring will be directly proportional to the value of the societal and technological contributions of which they might otherwise have been capable.

    Fun fact: only some of the students will learn critical thinking skills from this exercise. All of them will completely lose any respect for authority or education though. Some of them will suffer permanent mental scarring because of it.
