Just a little bit of info --- one of officers from the companies related to Red Flag Linux said that Chinese govn't doesn't provide much resource for Red Flag Linux, and one large company is providing this resource now instead.
Maybe that's flamebeit, but there's a part of truth in it. Currently what Hong Kong people concentrate on is economy and politics. No one is really paying attention to technology, though everybody is shouting aloud and trying to boost technology level through shouting. Sad, but true. I have worked in a very big suckED company, so I know what "tech" means in Hong Kong m/billionaires' mind.
In contradiction, seems Mainland has growing consciously on real development of technology, though a large portion of them is just bloated or just vapor. Just take those Linux distributions in Mainland for example: most of them is just copying Redhat and modifying the developer list (that makes me annoyed), but some of them is doing bits of nice things --- I remembered one distro uses wine to "port" Chinese Winword to Linux (and it reads Chinese.doc successfully).
At least Mainland China is waking up slowly, unlike Hong Kong which is destined for death.
Somebody posted an old/. link to news about seti@home here... The Truth About SETI@Home I followed it's link and somehow visited www.3dnow.org. Upon viewing it's analysis, I deleted all traces of seti@home clients immediately. Why?
SETI isn't getting enough data. As so many data cruncher are finishing blocks more and more quickly, SETI simply want others to process more slowly... denying Intel's optimized build, and denying support of 3dnow (without giving reason!). So I think they want users to waste more cpu cycles without their knowledge. I'm so furious I stopped it immediately.
Agreed. I've seen REAL love blossomming in chat rooms. They were in love for 2 yrs, yet they have seen each other ONLY ONCE -- because one is Japanese living in US and another is Hong Kong people moved to UK. When they broke up, the girl's very sad (I'm more familiar with her).
And in another case, a girl knows her boyfriend thru ICQ. Just a month... and they are in love. Since then they like to go shopping, playing etc together.
The point that internet sex isn't to be believed is understandable... but it depends more on the persons involved. If they think there's no responsibility on the net and everybody can do what they like, disaster will follow soon. But if they're treating it seriously, happy ending isn't unimaginable.
Yes, being honest AND careful is what most people needed:)
Generally Slackware user are those DIY types or sysadmins who prefer their own ways or system hackers. LSB doesn't mean a big deal to them. Patrick said that diversity is preferred.......
Now the point is that 0 is the system default, and most people choose it(me too). CmdrTaco already stated that sometimes good comments can fall into -1(the hell...), so recommended us to choose -1 as the threshold instead of 0......
But I don't have so much time to filter out the good ones from bad ones so I didn't follow his advice......
well, as a Hong Kong people, I feel ashamed that this kind of article would even appear in those so-called "mainstream" magazines. But luckily this is only an exception.
IT people in Hong Kong is beginning to take notice of Linux, and many univ / college students are using Linux. But only a "beginning" thou.
There's also a LUG in Hong Kong. Not a professional org as it should be, but since this LUG is new, I think it'll be better later.
Why preannounce it, just like LinuxToday? It's true that it'll be put on ftp.kde.org very soon, but only the directory structure is present!! Nothing's there now! Everything is still under the unstable branch. Period.
I recalled that sometime ago a document generator is mentioned, which generates some "professional research papers" or something like that, to show off natural language processing.....
Somebody care to make a patent generator which can spit out hundreds of ideas every hour, then compare them against the patent archive followed by submitting all patents?
I don't believe you have used it for 6 years without knowing that the option is "-lpthread", not "-pthread".

This has already been covered in Hackernews. Btw, download.com has the guts to mirror it, I *really* can't believe it. Cool!!!
It doesn't matter whether she's strong or not... I think her trainer provided strong back up force for her...
Btw I really wanna ask, is the 10th move her discovery? Or anybody has played this move before?

Let's see how patent office can deal with THAT
