"It's possible that some of our sales force overstated the benefits of dual-capable CPU systems, unfortunately, by being overly critical of single-CPU-capable systems," said the executive, who asked not to be named.
Intel usually targets new systems at servers. That way they can charge thousands for the new chips. How will that work if SMP is not available for several months?
Why bother with any of that? Just put a hook on the launch ramp, attach a really long cable and put a weight at the top of the ramp slightly in excess of the rocket's weight. Release the break and let gravity launch the rocket in a similar manner that air craft carriers fling aircraft up to speed. Guarentees a steady 1G acceleration, assuming the cable can move frictionlessly. Too bad there are no point masses either.
I do believe the 6502 existed all the way back to 1975 or 1976. Certainly the Apple 1 used one and it was available in 1977. Four years before the IBM PC's debut in 1981.
but go figure, those are the ones they came up with.
They? "They" is George Carlin. He sat down and thought about what words couldn't be said on tv. His seven words are the foundation of a supreme court ruling. Somehow his drug induced comedy routine is the basis of the supreme court ruling. At least he gets a good laugh out of it.
Have you considered, though, that application service providers are on the rise? These are people who write software and make server farms where the software is run as a service for a client. Said corporation could take a GPL'd program, modify it, and make it a part of their backend application service that their costumers never see. That version of the program is now lost, a loophole around the GPL. The user coming into the website runs the program on the corporation's servers. It is never distributed or copied to a third party.
In SMAC, I totally dominated a neighboring computer player and he surrendered to me. He never backstabbed me. He would give me units, un asked for, when I went to war with other computer players. It was mind blowing when it first happened.
If I write standards compliant C/C++/FORTRAN/Ada code it doesn't matter what compiler I use.
Hahahahahahahahaha. Oh, thanks for the laugh. No compiler is standards compliant. If you have do any multi-platform programming you will find this out.
According to DSD director Martin Brady, ``to ensure that (our) activities do not impinge on the privacy of Australians, DSD operates under a detailed classified directive approved by Cabinet and known as the Rules on Sigint and Australian Persons".
And yet somehow censoring the internet is allowed. I find it amusing that these two stories came out on the same day.
And why would Bladenc or any other currently existing encoder or winamp/x11amp or any other currently existing player care? I don't think any of this "fingerprinting" code exists anywhere. So what part of the code is going to deny you the music?
Also, where is a computer's fingerprint stored?

Red Hat is a trademark that they have to protect. They must raise a stink if someone uses it without their permission or lose the trademark. Since their name is the ONLY thing they own, they have to be serious about it. The law, unfortunately, has not room for witty. And from the sounds of them, these ads do not parody.
I think they should find a better way of doing this because it's not exactly the best way of obtaining someones identity. Someone could get into a lot of trouble if they left their machine accessible and then some of their childrens friends with a weird sense of humour wanted to send a lot of offendsive email, for example, by registering with a free provider online.
And why shouldn't I be responsible for what my children's friends do on a machine that I own. Being responsible for your children also means knowing who they hang out with and what they are doing.
I find it amazing that the NSA would be foolish enough not to spoof its own IP address if it was gathering information for illegal purposes. They actually work in secrets. They would know about web page logs.
Something else is going on here. But I'm not paranoid enough to really care.
Um... why? You've already read it... Seems like a waste of resources to me.
Maybe he'd like to have it on a bookshelf. Maybe he'd like to hand it to someone and have them read it. Maybe he'll read it again with more attention because he won't be in front of a monitor. I know that when I read things on the computer I skim more often that I do with a physical book. Current computers do not replace books as the best way to read linear information.
Whether or not you call it pron, I would prefer that links to nekkidness be clearly labeled so that I don't click on them at work. Generally, I never read the quickies at work because I never know if have to worry about cow-orkers seeing it.

Well, I know I'm curious. What are the 12 dimensions of Book Space? (I'm also a Terry Pratchett reader and would suggest using L-Space as the name.)

AC 20 in 3rd Ed = AC 0 in 2nd Ed.
AC 30 in 3rd Ed = AC -10 in 2nd Ed.
Actually, if you launch task manager in NT, it says the process "System" with a PID of 2 is using 200K. That is probably the "kernel".

Hey Rob, how about making a job offer topic so we can filter it out? What is really special about this job offer that you posted it as news?
