Where does it say in the Constitution that the government can't own a business?
As long as they make a legitimate and ethical profit on it to justify the initial investment, why should I care?
But I do agree with you in some regards. Can we actually trust the government to make a legitimate and ethicalprofit. As it stands they can barely justify the hole they are digging.
Oh well... I'm going to work tomorrow and the government is going to take 30% of my wage for the day, and make my
employer give them about that much too. So you can equate that to me working for the government for 2.5 hours tomorrow. oh joy!
The free market solution would be that if the US government values Seagate as such resource,
they should just buy Seagate. It wouldn't be the dumbest investment our government could make.
The other issue with that though is what company would trust Seagate Drives after that?
I don't know about you guys but I think maybe IBM should get in to the disk market again...
Last I saw, Microsoft was a company that makes money from customers of a luxury product.
Maybe they should remember that fact before it kills them in the next 5-10 years.
What you couldn't handle the Ubuntu Server CD? Begone Elmer FUD! LAMP stack was installed on my circa '02 netvista in all of 20 minutes. How was that a nightmare? The real nightmare comes when you have to secure your Windows box. Have fun with that.
As long as they leave RoboTech alone I could care less.
With the way Harmony Gold treats its long forgotten franchise,
it's not really likely any ways.
"Choice of.NET for their business apps may be not the best, but it is reasonable. C# is in fact "Java Improved", and it is quite fast. The.NET libraries are immense, and free. They do everything. Development tools are free (though most companies want to pay for professional versions since they contain more useful stuff)..NET is preloaded on every Windows box. Windows itself is a sunk cost, and it's peanuts in any case."
It seems like you just stated every reason why FOSS already works for them. But I guess since you state it so eloquently : "This battle is not worth fighting," he should just roll over. What a subtle shill you are.
agreed... my YouTube crashes Iceweasel all the goddamn time...
As a side note. I had used the multimedia repository for Etch for quite a while. Recently I updated to Testing because there were some version dependencies that I needed to fill. So I switched my sources.list to point to Lenny and did the apt-get dist-update and upgrade and my codec's (xvid, mpg and avi) got messed up. I've tried fixing it but totem won't go any more... word of warning or call for help... whichever.
Once Ingo merges in the rest of the rt patch I think your latency argument will pretty much be a non issue. Then it will be just a matter of the game developers (or wine developers...) using the POSIX interface in an inteligent way (and if they already are no changes will be necessary).
An easy way to check out real time performance is to use the OSADL live CD
I would consider Microsoft some kind of odd half breed then...
I'd also like to point out that you are a geek... As if you didn't know...
Pot, Kettle, Black... there, now that that's done I'm going to bed.
No it was good ass talking... I enjoyed it.
But that still doesn't change the fact that you think Debian is full of bloat...
You should try a minimal net-install and only apt-get what you want then...
Oh yea, It looks like Ian Murdock is making Solaris more like Debian/Ubuntu, RedHat/Fedora and SLED/OpenSUSE.
If it has worked for other distributions, it will probably work well for Solaris, especially since they don't
have to bicker over what goes into upstream or not. Not that debate is a bad thing... not by any stretch.

No Lawyer here, but don't those kind of costs get worked out as counter suits for damages?
The age of the Anonymous Cowards getting all upity?
That age is still in full swing from what I can tell.

geeks are desperate for women?

How 'bout this?
"With the attention going to big-name brouhahas and guys with easy money,
it's gotta be said that the lonesome hacker is the real world-changer."
Always has been... Always will be... Amen to that.
Two ways to skin a cat.
What about the war on Piracy?

I read this and saw "Our Pointers Are Safe"
I think I need to get out today, read a book or something...
It's a strange way of spelling odd.

Ok, so as long as we are being OT and friendly about it, what packages were broken and what did you move to?

Don't you mean a Ferengi?
At least when I look at Balmer , I think Ferengi...
Do you derive satisfaction from the internet?
I'm sure most engineers will also argue that they derive a great deal of satisfaction from what they do.
Sounds bizar but, isn't that what Debian avoids with its stable/testing/experimental branches?

Yes you are indeed a troll. But mostly because you are talking out your ass.
