Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't this similar to what Peplink has been doing for a while now with their "SpeedFusion" technology?... although I know it's appliance based.
Right. Exactly. But more likely this will last as long as it takes for the US to say "Oh, remember that money we were going to lend you, or those resources you needed from us or that blah blah blah trade we were going to do...???? Well, how about we get that data first."
Effect: US gets data.
There have been a number of cases where the compromise of the phone company's directory has lead to these people being killed or worse.
What's worse than being killed? I'm pretty sure there's nothing. No matter if someone is tortured or raped, I'm pretty sure they'd rather not die, most of all.
At what point before the digitization/Internetization of data in the late 90s could you walk into the public library in Ekalaka, Montana, and ask to use a phone book for Harpers Ferry, West Virginia?
I dunno about the quality of prints, I've never used them and forgot they even existed...
Driver nightmare in a domain environment. Never had a good experience with these across many, many models. Print quality varies but would not prefer them.
I used to work for a non-profit health & wellness/community organization that can be abbreviated by four very well known sequence of letters. They implemented robocalls for EVERYTHING including, camp updates, account balance due, etc from the headquarters until one VP got wind of it and realized they could use it for even MORE (marketing, incentives, etc). I heard many stories from the branch levels of how intrusive and frequent these calls were becoming. As the person in charge of the technology, let me tell you it was almost impossible to tell the VPs that no... this was not a good strategy. Good way to lose members IMHO.
What about the many, many customers that deal with HIPPA (Health Safety Information) And Patient Safety information? Also, what about security clearance? There are very few hosting services out there that offer certified compliance standards as well as employee screenings for ALL employees that will be handling (read: potentially have access both on hardware and software levels) for things that require background checks (Such as FBI background check, etc.). I deal with this on a daily basis. I've dealt with incompetent people, let's call them c-level, who just want to throw everything out of the data center into some puffy place so they don't have to worry (read: pay) for infrastructure/support on-going and up front. Also they thing this will deal with things like overheard regarding number of needed staff/salaries. Drives me up a goddamn wall. Private cloud with proper DR in place is good enough. That's the only way I'd ever plan it.
Are we hating on Amazon, or just the rumored phone? Personally, I LOVE amazon. One of my favorite review sites if you have the time to filter some BS. Almost always has the best prices and Prime membership is totally worth it for the shipping especially if you utilize their free video streaming service (free meaning "included in Prime membership). Costs me less than Netflix.
Agreed. Granted, I just returned my iPad 3 within the 14 days I had it; full refund (I just did not like it or find it entirely useful). Also, I don't like games. I was looking for something I could use for remote desktop sessions and control of my IT environment. Also, to note, I own three macs and a number of windows pcs. I also have a droid razr. I have Windows 8 running on my brand new Samsung Slate (700T). It's by far better and superior to the ipad IMHO. I can do so much more, install what I want (and how I want) and I think it has a lot more to offer. A lot of it is because of the metro interface. I do NOT use the metro style IE. I don't like it and to me, it's kind of silly as I tend to do much more in my browser. But, if you want a good tablet experience, I think the Slate is a home run and will only get better with the Win8 RTM. It's docked as my primary work pc right now.
It's as easy as hiring Halle Berry as a NOC.

After the stunning success of the original Surface tablet, Microsoft releases its successor, codenamed "Rodents of Unusual Size".
Rodents of Unusual Size? I don't think they exist.
Do they have a Facebook page I can 'Like"...?

lobster fed lobster stuffed with lobster.
I still prefer mine the old fashioned way... Lobster stuffed with tacos.
It seems to me that charisma is much more important for getting ahead in politics and business.
100% Agreed. http://imgur.com/PzbPO
The **AA said it was just one, but it had some movies and music in it.
Mod this funny. Please.

Tim Cook goofed.
Actually, he didn't. You're listening to him wrong.

Best... fireworks... ever!
Unless it goes off in San Diego.
Put it in motion.
Lisa Simpson: Isn't there anything here that doesn't have meat in it?
Lunch Lady Doris: Possibly the meat loaf.

This Brian Scan guy shouldn't be solely responsible for pre-emptively catching all these mistakes. And what makes HIM so special to have that ability?

"Chris Humpries" should know that his name is spelled with a "K." . . . . . Fuck, I hate my girlfriend.
