    Just ask for the 'house card' next time you are in the store. If they don't scan a house card, ask for the manager and believe me he will scan a house card. They do this because litigation has proven loyalty programs in effect charge similar customers different prices.

    As a side note, I see calls for 'mod parent up' which is unfortunate. The parent post is just a leftist cry for class envy and adds nothing to the discussion. It's also inaccurate because, as I just pointed out, you can get the loyalty card discount without a loyalty card. This may explain why I haven't posted on slashdot for a year and will likely not post again for a year. This topic could have been quite a nice discussion about RFID (a technology you *will* deal with) but I would imagine when all is said and done we will just be bashing Microsoft. Amen.

    People who played The Sims also play "Deer Hunter" and "Solitare" and whatever else came installed on their computers. I doubt there's much crossover to the Warcraft 3 and Everquest community.

    I almost can't believe our taxes are paying for this. To think that while terrorists were plotting our demise, the NSA spent it's budget on a bunch of smelly Linux programmers.

    Couldn't that money be spent on finding and thwarting the terrorist attacks? It is the National Security Agency for God's sake.

    • Convert our governmment and society to Communism or at least Socialism. This would lower the quality of life for everyone but we would have more security.
    • Get a job with the government. It's very hard to get fired from state or local governments. They only grow and never shrink. The drawback is of course would be low pay and boring work.

    1. Does he think he's so smart that we wouldn't have effective encryption today if he hadn't invented PGP? Is he sure the terrorists used PGP? Arrogant to say the least.

    2. Does Zimmermann really think if he had given the government a backdoor they would have been scanning all PGP packages on every computer everywhere and would have caught the terrorists.

    Sokoban is right. I'm no great chess player but I spent some time today going over these games and it is either Fischer OR a computer.

    Pushing your pawns one at at time and moving your king out for a gambit is just insane. I mean it's truly mad. Had I only seen the just the game and not read the surrounding story my first guess would have been a computer (who doesn't think like a normal chess player) or someone way ahead of the field like Fischer.
