Since, the bank accepted a faulty Cheque I agree they should be the one's to ware the losst. If a store accepts a faulty bank note from an innocent customer then it's the store that takes the loss when the original forger can't be found. The customer is at best an unwilling participant especially if they were to ask the store to verify if the cash was ok.
Yes, a cautious idiot is still an idiot. But this guy is really a victim of the bank, they deceived him into accepting the cheque as genuine.
JungleDisk is owned by Rackspace and it gives you the option of storing in RackspaceCloudfiles.
Plus client side encryption means you can store anything you want. JungleDisk don't know what you're using their service for because of the robust security.
As a security researcher monitoring criminal networks is a part of what I do. The real value often comes from communicating with the perpetrators (where possible) to understand their reasons for doing it. Anonymous is especially interesting because unlike many such networks these people have no financial reward for their participation. I have since found people on the network who are happily explaining their ideology to me, understanding this will be the first step to shutting them down.
Hard Technical data can only bring you so far. You can't defeat an ideology you don't understand, as the MPAA/RIAA are discovering.
I'm unsure as to what you mean by "I bet you whiteknight too." although "You certainly are a faggot." almost certainly means you disagree with me:)
There is a chain of command behind AnonOPs ddos attacks. The people running the anonops IRC network appear to be pulling most of the strings.
Some script kiddies have lone wolfed targets to no avail and some have organised independently to attack in groups. These small attacks always fail but the large one's are coordinated by a command hierarchy within the IRC network.
Although there seems to be allot of confusion amongst the script kiddies; some even claiming "We have no leader!" yea then who is setting the !lazor command?
I've been watching the Anonops IRC since the attack on paypal, as I'm sure allot of people are.
AnonOPs is a false flag operation. I see people crying things like "SUPPORT FREESPEECH" , "end FASCISM" and "Support free expression" and all sorts of militant libertarian war cries. While at the same time talking about attacking websites they disagree with. I have tried pointing out this hypocrisy to no avail. http://s3.danscomp.net/anonirc2.jpg
I'm watching the anonops IRC and they are still trying to take mastercard down.
it's 7am Monday here and they have been attacking mastercard since at least Saturday morning. People keep announcing that mastercard is down but it never is, I just laugh. How can they expect to be called hackers when they can't even tell if their target is online?
The Script Kiddies are nothing more than vandals. They claim to be "Presenting a message" well so is the kid who spraypaints a cop car.
Operation Paybacks message has lost all legitimacy because it comes through mindless vandalism. Whatever their message, freedom of speech is not one of them.
These script Kiddies aren't intelligent. If they disrupt Amazon hosting then all they will do is create thousands of enemies and considering that AWS is primarily aimed at developers i.e people who know what they are doing, this really seems like a stupid move on behalf of the kiddies.
So you did what you believed to be the wrong thing at the time?
I don't think your in any position to take a moral high ground. Even though you didn't do anything wrong, the fact that you thought you where doing wrong but still did it anyway isn't a good thing.
Is time and research not valuable commodities? That is effectively what a lot of development is, time and research. They owned their time with the intent to sell off the fruits of their labor (say for example working in a field) for the price that would be set.
Tell that to all the failed business owners; I'm sure many of them would love this fantasy world.
If I start working on a project will you buy the end result from me? I am after all doing with the intention of being able to sell it. Seems only fair that you and everyone else should pay me for this work.
A year in the real world is more valuable than a 4 year degree in many cases. People do learn surprisingly fast on the job and someone who's held a job for at least a year (ideally more) has shown that they can stick at it.
I'm not a big fan of Facebook; but it is very good for keeping long term tabs on people that you might otherwise lose contact with. When travelling internationally I have used it on more than one occasion to re-establish lost contact. In an age where people move around allot it is certainly easier than trying to track them down via family and known associates.
But I would prefer to rely on email any other time. I can't stand the little textboxes that facebook supplies, I treat all facebook communications as public. I won't post anything on facebook that I wouldn't post on a public webpage under my own name.
With the price of hardware these days it's hardly worth even getting it back. Once it's compromised; it's compromised.
I agree, once it's been in the hands of an adversary you just can't trust it any more. I would purchase a new laptop over the counter reload the encryption and restore from secure backup.
I had to do this recently after having a system stolen. Fortunately everything was switched off and demounted at the time but it has made me think about the possibility of running remote wipe software so that if something is lost while a session is in progress I have one extra counter measure available. Would also be good in the unlikely event that encryption was somehow broken, have the system phone home to a command file as soon as it connects to the internet. Obviously not fool proof but each additional security layer is a plus.
Yes, we have seen facebook addicted burglars who check their status while on the job but isn't this going too far.

I apologise for my jackass grammar.

The guy left his name in the "author" field when he compiled the pdf. Nothing say dumb criminal like attaching your name to the evidence.
I keep all mine in barrels. They are easier label and archive that way.

I suspect mastercard is blocking ip's.

I mean why would you join something such as the LOIC without IP spoofing?
Probably the same reason people are currently bragging about it in IRC without IP spoofing. Stupidity.

Anonymity doesn't work so well if you brag about it. Especially if it's to a nefarious individual who betrays you.
False analogy. You're trespassing as the theatre doesn't want you in there.
Not the same as finding someone who wilfully gives you a copy.
Find a theatre that's willing to let you view the movie free of change and you have an analogy that fits.
So you did what you believed to be the wrong thing at the time?

You're starting from the false premise that pirates are willing to pay for the games. Clearly they are not.
It comes down to simple economics; a product or service is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.
What's a CD? I honestly don't think there is a single CD in my house.
You can boot from usb drives now.

The company is allowing him to do it. They could just disable automatic forwarding.

I feel sorry for you if you think $22 is good.
That is why you should always have a remote backup. If your adversary gets hold of it then it's not remote enough.
With the price of hardware these days it's hardly worth even getting it back. Once it's compromised; it's compromised.
