Video calling is great. Ive only used it 5-6 times in the past 3 years and while almost no one uses it, there is defiantly a place for it. Not in business but certainly for personal use.
The last time I used it was with a phone tapped to a remote control car.
Why would the cost of a text be an issue, after all your are prepared to make a phone call. If I can't get through to someone I either call back later or just text.
Fast, convenient and reliable. I don't even consider voicemail as an option
The fact that they are the ones making the call means they are the ones who want/need something. It is selfish of them to expect us to beckon to their every need. (I say us because I agree with the parent)
The internet is another means of communication - it's not going magically solve energy issues nor change human nature.
Not only that but the same idiots also fail to realise these systems need electricity to run. My phone does, not allot, but times by a few million and suddenly the power consumption is in a measurable quantity. Same goes for my WiFi point.
That's what I prefer about radio's, the lack of infrastructure requirements.
Ok they aren't the most convenient way to contact someone, I don't know anyone who carries a 2-way around just in case someone tries to contact them. But when the phone networks fail the radios will still work.
"Don't worry everyone I saved this radio for the apocalypse, Oh fuck, does anyone have batteries?"
However if I have a Radio in my house/car I can still talk with others who also have radios. While it may not assist the emergency services it can still be valuable for those who have one.
CB is perfect if you are driving in a convoy because it's direct communication no matter where the convoy goes you have constant communications. Phone coverage is no longer an issue, there's nothing more frustrating than when you can't talk to someone just 100meters in front of you because at least one of you is out of the coverage area.
You can also make contact with other road users in your area, this ability is quite useful when travelling in more remote area's.
Two-way-radios are still playing an important role today. They just go unnoticed because almost everyone's carrying a phone, where once any vehicle to vehicle (or in fact any portable) comms had to be done via 2-way.
Where the hell do you get common sense from these days?!?!
She sued because she is a clumsy moron.
Do you mean like the priority setting in outlook?
Someone is really going to mark their own call as low priority.

Don't ALL mobile phones have SMS by default, it's not something you ever need to setup.
Unless the US is more outdated than I thought.

You keep thinking that, only lowly grunts need to beckon to the masters call any time of the day or night.
Alternatively you could just answer the call....
Why do you have voice mail if you don't use it?
People won't insist of leaving messages if you don't give them that option.
I have mine disabled/non-existant. That way I don't get the.
"Did you get my voicemail?" SMS.
Actually the iPhone sold well because it is an apple product. The phone itself sucks balls.
At least Microsoft don't bundle viruses with their product.
Because if there's anything foreign policy experience has taught us, it's that other countries are just begging to be "Westernizied."
They are, otherwise their people wouldn't be flooding in here by boat.
This is /. it seems only the dickheads have mod points.

or go for a joyride.
That is what lights are for.
Talk about over complicated solutions, to a problem we have already solved no less.
But the Nazi's still rule.

But 60MHz is below FM radio and has less bandwidth than 2.4GHz.
Nice typo....
I never said I don't download copyrighted content.
Stop generalising.
I don't steal, but I do download.
