I'm also tired of hearing how hard it is to fill out an online form to buy something. It's a very quick process. If it's too hard maybe they should stick to brink and mortar stores.
There is no good reason for a store to give out your credit card info to someone else EVER (except to the credit card processor).
Help me here someone: So if an artist exercises the right to own their music again, who gets the revenues for physical sales of material already on shelves? Surely using the RIAA logic, it's the music and not the media that is governed by copyright?
Maybe the volume is too low to consider, but there's a lot of back catalogue stuff out there.
Watch for quick and non-apologetic hypocritical statements from the industry. And as another poster commented, keep an eye out for stealth changes in copyright law.
This story makes me want to jump and shout Hallelujah that copyright law is working for the right people for once. But knowing how far in control the corporates are of the government (especially the legislature) right now tempers my glee.
I don't Obama using apps for news is a big deal since there are plenty of other places to get news that have various points of view.
If China has an app like this but is letting other news get through... more power to them. It becomes a problem when other POVs are not allowed to be heard.
... I say maybe I'll start to worry about what is fair to you a little bit when you start to worry about the level of service given to ME.
The corporations of the U.S. are not monarchy (yet) so it's not our job to make sure you live high on the hog. Maybe if you treated me like a customer I would feel some loyalty.
The real Douglas Adams twist wasn't really reported. The baguette came from the Heart of Gold. Ford Prefect caused a very small dimensional hole when he threw it out the window. Luckily, we can report that the crisps were very good so the whole incident is justified.

Is that a mission requirement? If they upload a foreign film or "Ishtar" will the entire file system crash? Will they get in trouble if they watch "Dark Star"?
accept this would involve innovation... and that's soooo hard! (in Barbie's 'Math is Hard' voice)
The one of the thing any entrenched industry does when they are threatened by new technology (or anything else for that matter) is go to the government for help (i.e. get the competitor regulated out of existance). That's where we're at right now.
The real bias problem in Television news isn't a liberal or conservative bias (with the exception of Fox news) but has to do with pro-corporate thinking. There are very few times that a news organization even acknowledges there is a second side to the debate when it comes to so-called "piracy" or copyright issues. I think these major reporters are so immersed in the corporate system that they are blind to the fact they even have this bias... it's the way they live, it is how they are getting paid and I believe they think there is no other way to look at many of these issues. I think that's one reason reporting this shoddy gets on the air... in the corporateThink world a connection between a kewl dood putting up a torrent of a porn dvd he ripped to mp4 and a white slave trader doesn't seem that outrageous.
This is another great example of why giving money or tax breaks to the biggest corporations is no longer a winning strategy to promote job growth. The multi-national corps have a world-wide market to pull labor from and are only forced to buy local labor for a few on-site jobs. This is why I believe they should stop ALL money going to huge multi-national corps (who have their own R&D money anyway) and focus on getting micro-loans to smaller businesses who can't offshore their work as easily. Start preferring the little guy trying to start something on a local corner by his house instead of a corporation that really has no home or loyalty whatsoever.
I thought Obama wasn't going to fall into this trap of giving money to huge corps who are simply going buy cheap foreign labor. I guess I was wrong.
The military/corporate complex won't be happy until EVERYTHING is made overseas. It's better for their short-term budgets, you see. They know they would be first against the wall if there was ever any real problems here so why care if we're caught with our pants down militarily later on.
What the subject says...

Does anyone else thinks it's funny that this story was posted while /. was showing "guru meditation" errors?
when are they going to go after the god damn CRIMINALS at Goldman Sachs.

I was thinking another Lith. battery to go bad/explode.
Are 4 bangs part of the name? All of the Gojira posts have 4 bangs.
I've got to read The Fine Article, but I wonder if aircraft recovery was even a possibility. Could it be another type of Kamikaze mission?
Also... I wonder if two aircraft would be all that affective with conventional weapons. It reminds me of M.A.S.H.'s 5 o'clock Charlie.
It screws over people with less tech knowledge than you.

That's what Monica called Bill, anyway.
What? Spike Milligan must of come up with that strategy.

BS post. All it will do is cause people who try to follow the law problems like every other attempt to regulate the Internet.
Trying to place regs on the Internet is like trying to get a drink of water with a fishnet.

For several work mornings the headline on "the new" CNN.com has been "Bay Bridge still closed."
In my head I hear it in the voice of Chevy Chase.
"General Francisco Franco is still dead!"
Welcome to the country of whiners. Everyone here in the U.S. is all for solving problems unless it is going to inconvenience them for a half second.

Lesson learned? You must be joking.
