The question is what is Linux for the desktop means. Is it just a consumer device based on the Linux kernel. Or does the device need a keyboard... then it come down to how much ok the kernel needs to be pure. And how much of the OS needs to follow the GNU standard.
Yes, when you can get a Pixel 2 Plus for $950 and all you need to deal with is a slower processor. Screen burning, not being shipped with and OS plastic buttons...
These types of phone are now in the price range now. You can debate features and will go back and forth because feature Y for you Is a big deal while Feature X for me is a big deal.
You are no more a sheep then anyone else. You just follow a different Sheppard. Or perhaps not all people just blindly buy a product that you may not like for good reasons on their own.
I not a big fan of the iPhone 6-8 design I like the return of the metal edge. Like in the original iPhone - iPhone 5s. The iPhone X looks nice with a bit of a design throwback to the original iPhone
Sources? All the reviews even from Android fans seem rather neutral on the Face ID. There is some issues in bright light conditions where you need to put the phone closer to your face. But compared to the fingerprint reader which fails when you are sweaty or the android iris scanner which needs a more direct looking into the device it has been working rather well.
There has been some tests to see if the can confuse it. Identical twins can bypass it. If you put on a wig or distort or cover you face too much it fails. But that is about it. I wouldn’t call it perfect but not a disaster
The first Smartphone was in 1995. However they didn’t really kick off until Around 2002.
Do you have a problem with basic motor skills or just don’t use the smart phone enough for it to take frequent trips threw the laundry. If it is the later you probably shouldn’t be getting a smart phone. Because you are probably not using its features too often and you can get a much cheaper flip phone. If it is the former then I apologize for that was insensitive of me.
Damn right I am going to pay $950 for a Pixel 2 Plus or a Samsung Galaxy note 8. Sure they are some minor build quality issues and the processor is slower. But damnit I don’t want to cross the 4 digit mark and I refuse to convert the number to hex to help keep perspective.
This is how it goes... Apple released a device, it is one of the most powerful devices out there. Apple users get confirmation bias that they got the best product.
6 months later Samsung or some other company will release a product that is more advanced then the Apple and sell it to their user base and they will get confirmation bias that they had got the best product.
So you are full of hate towards people who decided to choose a phone that you wouldn’t?
Or are you a Pixel 2 or Note 7 user who is just happy to see that you are not the only person in the world with problems. Even though this isn’t a problem with the phone but with the servers.
It sounds like a problem with the carrier servers not the phone. But what the heck I’ll say Apple is Bad and people who buy the product are idiots, to help reinforce your confirmation bias to make you feel good. Because a person choice in a phone that they will have on their person for the next few years, has to be based purely on price, removal battery and a headphone jack.
The viewers will love it, but the critics will hate it. Because it didn’t match their expectations because they figured it would be like the Futureramma clips while they got something different. So they are all mad and confused that a show didn’t fit into the box they were expecting.
Don’t forget you will have to pay for CBS all access. Because we just want to pay $8 a month that has one station just to watch one or two shows that are interesting.
Partially, but not dramatic though. Normally the Boss is some sort of extrovert who like to be in contact with the employees, Having them working at home away from most of the casual communication, makes it seem like he isn't doing his job.
Also like Open Office Design there is the idea that good ideas happen when people talk to each other... While for a lot of people good ideas often are better if made by an individual or a small group, less group think, which is often touted as synergy.
Personally I prefer to work in the office, vs at home, I can goof off at the office, at home, everything I do is so highly measured.
Often there is an underestimation on what people can do, also the more mature person usually doesn't want the extra access.
So the low level person may get full access because the organization figures what can they do, while the person may be actually rather smart and know what to do with all that data. Also the developers know if there is a problem, they will be first to get a finger pointed at them, so by demanding that they don't have access to that info, means that they weren't the ones who messed it up.
The Instagram App, which they show off the real time masks, Uses the Dot projector like the emojis. So to follow your face when you move it and when you change your expressions... It may not be using your FaceID information, but it is getting your face data, for the most part the phone can just render it it locally... But who knows what feature can slip by Apples wall garden, that happens to send this data to the cloud for additional processing.
Also, you don't have to buy it. Yes, I am getting a new iPhone, however my old iPhone is a few major numbers behind, the battery is dying and the cost and hassle of replacing it, vs getting a new shiny phone now with a few generations of new features makes it worth it. However I will not be getting the iPhone 11, 11s, and probably not the 12 or 12s or what ever names the decide to call it. Because while my personal buy strategy it to get the newest and best, I tend to keep it for a long time, so the next time i get the newest and best, I am once again treated to the luxury of having all the cool new features.
Also by that time, I can decide if Apple is worth it, or not. The iPhone X just barely won out from the Note 8, just because I already had an iPhone... In 3 or 4 years I may switch to an other brand, as Apple may not spark my interest any more.
However in a world of incremental upgrades, you just need to stop your instinct on getting the newest and best every time it goes out, because you are just getting a feature you can get by with means, you are perfectly fine with skipping a generation. But these incremental upgrades vs. Major releases also have the advantage for the non-fans who keep track of the market, means they can get new device now, and not panic that next year it would be unusable, because of lack of support.
Perhaps, but with the professionals with a lot of the imperfections glossed away it may mean that regular photos may not work as well, because it would be too complex because of all our imperfection, skin blotches, crooked teeth, and less then symmetric faces. Or the algorithm will have a hard time figuring out what is normal, Thus make a lot of people with exaggerated imperfections, so what would had been a normal looking person, ends up being quite ugly.
All fine and good, except your argument reminds me of Microsoft Security Statement back in 1998 with the release of Active X (Which unlike Java Applets at the time, can access your files, and do some additional lower level calls to your PC). IE will ask you if it is OK to run the Active X control. Now most people are hungry for the content that the site offered, by clicking on the Yes button. So they had opened their system up to being hacked in a moment of a lack in judgement. Today we are suffering from a different form of security, where it isn't your system that they want access to just its data. (Lock down the System drives all you want, the important data is in the documents folder, that you can access without admin rights). So using the App to put on a rendered beard or mask, may sound like a fun little toy to play with, until the maker of the app downloads your face specs and sells them to your favorite criminal or semi-criminal company.
Perhaps it was suppose to be a much bigger chamber, but for some reason they were not able to complete it, so they made a smaller one. However they left the remains of the bigger one in place, as no one would see it or know.
I like Star Wars, but I am not a nitpicking fan. So when I saw Tarkin and Leia I didn't feel that anything was odd on the first impression. After it was pointed out, then I could see the imperfections. I expect a lot of the fans before they saw the movie realized these characters would be shown in CGI. Me I didn't do all my research about how the movie was made before I watched it, so I wasn't displeased from it.
While I go to the movies for a sense of escapism, there still needs to be a sense that what I am watching is fiction if it is fiction. I am OK with other actors playing the part of actors who are unavailable, dead, or have aged to a point where they will not fit in the movie. Sure they may look different and sound different, however If I am willing to suspend my belief for Space Wizards, Technology based loosely on shaky scientific hypotheses, I can suspend it to say this guy is the same guy that was played by a different actor. Tarkin for the most part was a minor character in the movie, so if he was played by an other actor, I probably wouldn't have known or really cared.
From the static picture they seem as creepy as people with overdone makeup. I was hoping to see a bunch of pictures of the normal people. Not a bunch of models. It is like early 3D static realistic however impossibly clean and perfect.
The real trick is when they are animated. I remember a back in 2000 where they were showing screen shots of the upcoming final fantasy movie. The screen shots looks like real people without the uncanny valley. However when they started moving and talking then it came to light.
Granted graphics and animation have improved greatly in the past 18 years but I hold my doubts until I can see the rendered images move and interact.
So point out a superior product, that costs significantly less, and not just $50 difference.

Why is it Apple and Samsung can’t both win?
They are both good phones and they fill different needs.

Is Donald Trump Trolling Slashdot now?
Dude you are the president do your freaking job.

So it is a prequel to the episode where the guy lost his glasses.
