As someone who had lost 60 lbs with Diet and exercise. Let me tell you again. We have different body types. I am stronger and faster than most people my age, my vitals are stellar. I hit the Gym 5 to 6 times a week and keep active... However I am not thin built, I will not reach a healthy BMI, as I took a Body fat scale. And took out my body fat, I would still be overweight. However, I need to watch my diet extremely carefully or the weight comes back (Fast). Other people can have Pizza every day, and not exercise. They may not be as healthy as me, but they are thinner, and have that healthy BMI
What I don't get about the rant. We know where the bases are. So we send the population to the bases so we can know where the bases are so we can bomb them? Or is the Big Bad America just trying to increase civilian casualty.
However the DNA can make your body more or less efficient than others, that and combination of our bacteria in our system, really determines how we digest food and energy we gain from it. Some people whose body temperature is just naturally higher than others means there is extra energy being spent to keep the body at that temperature. While people with a lower temperature will burn less. Then there are the calories that pass thru our system. We just don't digest them. So some people will be able to digest more food, and others it just passes thru. Calories in vs burned isn't really accurate. Sure diet and exercise helps, however some people can live like a sloth and stay skinny, while others will gain pounds in one day of eating something they shouldn't and would take weeks of exercise to burn off.

Being involved in the hiring process, I find that a lot of technology candidates with many years of experience do not have the right experience. Too much focus on New Technology that the organization may not implement. Too much focus on older technology that we are trying to faze out, or had removed a long time ago. Or jobs that require basic human interaction, because no matter how good they are technically, we don't want need a jackass who makes everyone looks bad. Where you are better off with someone with less skillsets, who is better for the job.
The real question I was wondering why does anyone find that surprising? While Silicon Valley is a major technology hub (10% of the software developers is HUGE!) there is need for software development across the globe. Many Major colleges teach Computer Science and Computer Engineering around the world, However there are a lot of Major ones in the North Eastern US. It is insane to think that all these people whose home is spread across the world, will travel away from it to study in colleges in one half of the country, then travel 2000 miles to the other end of the country for work? Most of these people tend to stay near their homes or their colleges (Hence why a lot of communities like having colleges in their area, causing a lot of new business around those areas, from young new grads, who have nothing to lose and startup new companies).

He should be able to write a comment beuitifier to quickly fix the issue, than trying to corroborate with thousands of people who may have different aspect on comments.

However a lot of it are Cron jobs/schedule jobs that does all the cleanup work, because the maker of that C/C++ Application just doesn't have the time or the ability to fix.

As economy 2.0 failed. These "kids" rushed to high paying jobs and invested in Silicon Valley with homes and infrastructure which raised the cost of living. After the crash while some moved out, however the housing bubble came in, then that popped a new tech economy came back. Making Silicon Valley just too expensive. Now I don't know if this is a new bubble or not, history will tell us this, however there are more focus on being profitable than the last time. However as these kids get out of school, and then grow up, realizing there is more to life than just work, The High Pressure Startups (asking 12+ hours a day) combined with high cost of living offsetting the additional money they make, makes them realize that they may be better off in a less exciting market, where they may be working tech in the more traditional roles. We as tech guys sometimes are a bit full of ourselves, because we are often asked to do things that others just don't know how to do. Although they are a lot of us, and others can learn if they want to. Tech is currently one of the few Middle Class jobs out there, while you can get rich, it is rather rare. But if you are living a middle class life, then you need your Work Life balance.
You are aware that Linux had had some recent (within the few years) vulnerabilities that had been around for decades, that were recently found and patched. If the biggest open source OS can have decade old bugs what hope is there to be fully secure?
But for which side? For Americans so we feel like we have our hand at the button and in control when those rogue governments go too far? Or is it from those countries who have other issues and want to distract those issues because America has a major influence force corrupting them from the inside. America is the big dog with a lot of power and influence however we are not all powerful nor have this constant hidden influence trying to keep all the other countries down.
C/C++ is good for canned software meant for wide deployment where you have fine tweaking of the performance so it can run fast on a big set of software. However scripting languages are good for those internal jobs that need to be fast enough but programmed quickly without all the rigor, so you have a useful app running quickly. Most of my programs I make are server side and I rely on scripting languages to do much of the grunt work because they can do it without the fuss of C.

Unless you are working on a team then you need to compromise on what language to use.
