The problem of a lot of theoretical science is much of it hasn't gone threw the scientific process. And a lot of it is becoming very complex and seeming to try to avoid finding a simpler solution. Just like religion many of these ideas come from good ideas then are backed up by strong personalities that get converts who then reteach the next generation as fact. Now many of Einstein's ideas do seem to work but they are tested and shown, also Einstein tened to make his theories understandable if you sit down and think about it. Vs others where the math just seems to work but no way to test it.
I expect for many of the "clients" they were looking for the illusion that they were more attractive than they really were. Being they were looking for the illusion they were willing to set aside belief. Biologically men are more wired to seek out many partners, while woman tend to focus on one person. But sex drive makes us do stupid things.
While the victims are not innocent. They were tricked into it. Much like in entrapment (An illegal activity in the US where law enforcement tries to pressure someone into breaking a law so they can bust them). So for some of these people they mad had been going threw some hard times and those bots seemed to fill whatever void that were looking for, thinking it was a real person. Most people after making a long term commitment have a tendency to reflect if life was better if I did X differently. Then there is a "person" seeming really to show you that SO that you could of had des if you just waited a bit longer. Now most people are mature enough to remember all the pain and confususion going threw their life at the time and realize it is a bad idea combined if you had any feelings towards your SO how much pain you will cause her if they found out. But having these bots to trick you is breaking up relationships that may had survived after that period of angst.
Well what constitutes a bug? I am guessing this catches those compile errors or buffer overflow issues. However the most bugs I experience is due to miscommunication of the requirement.
Normally I would say still put in some notice, to help smooth the transition. While I feel it shouldn't be mandated, it is a good idea. Often your bosses talk to other bosses in different companies. Or that boss that you have left out to dry. Found his way to the same company you are working for. And a general unprofessional exit will just make it awkward at best. While it would be nice to "Stick it to the Man!" it normally isn't a good idea.
Is it ever OK? Sure we may get examples, say you are required to do an illegal activity, or you are facing dangerous or abusive actions. However your Boss just being a jerk or you just hate your job. Really isn't a good reason. Another good reason would be the new job isn't giving you that grace period to move over. However if that is the case, I hope they won't expect you to give notice.
We have been for Generations that we have been on the cusp of understanding it all. The further we go the more details we find, causing more questions.
Replacing body parts is still a risky procedure. Being able to grow body parts will more likely help get people off of donors lists. And having to make decisions on if someone is worthy of a treatment or not. So it may help out a bit. But in terms of immortality. We don't see someone living long times by taking parts that fared better off their identical twin who had experienced an "Accident". Because there is other ways of getting useful body parts without printing them.
Ah to be back in the mid-1990s where Microsoft was the ultimate king. Every PC had a 3 1/2 Floppy Disk which was DOS formatted. And every OS read that DOS format. Then that 1.44MB just wasn't enough... We had some funky stuff like Zip Drives. Than the Writable CD came out in the late 1990's which was good for a while, however it is rather difficult to expand on.
Except for those vendors who try to release a more geeky friendly device. With removable parts rarely seem to make any sucess. Unlike the Desktop PC of old were you paid an average of $2,000 for a system, that you will want to upgrade over time. We are now spending $300 - $600 for a cheaper device that we normally keep for just as long.
Or people like me who dropped $100 cable tv service for a Hulu/Netflix/Amazon Prime and can watch most anything out there for less. Cable in general sucks.
Are you sure that people don't want more data? I mean if you look at data usage charts you see an increase in data usage. Sites are getting larger so people need more data. Now I personally think how they charge for Cell Data is a scam, almost as bad as texting rates. However Version is on its rights to raise it rates without increasing data. At least we are getting something for our money.
Sometimes it is a good idea to test this stuff out before jumping into conclusions on why it may be a bad idea.
We are moving from a success reward system to a failure avoidance culture. Lets avoid making things better because there is a chance that someone could make it worse. Lets try it out, see the failure points and see if those have a workaround. Vs. hiding our head in fear that it may not work out 100% right at go live.
The part that is more worrisome. Is that the software ecosystem for this is so small that it seems to affect across many MRI vendors. I mean if you are are going to do a scientific study. You should make sure your results are calculated from different software.
Open Source or not probably isn't the big issue, but the fact that so many researchers were using the same software.
Location is a huge factor. You could make 200k in a metro area and just live the upper middle class lifestyle. Or you can make 100k and live the same life style in a rural area only a hundred miles away. Housing is considered your largest expense taking between supposably 1/3 for renting and 1/2 for a mortgage of your income. Then the cost of goods in the area are inflated to pay everyone else larger wages to live in that area. That $15 minimum wage debate is because in some areas of the US $15 an hour (30k) is more than some professional work at in some areas.
A big problem is the American problem is trying to keep in style and compare themselves with their neighbors. Bigger home, nicer car... It is like we went to America to escape Europian class structure only to not let go of the feeling you are not worthy so you need to compensate, because everyone want to be a noble. This had been a problem for a long time Americans are rich outdoor and poor inside. This makes us feel that we are somehow achieving less than most others. What needs to be done which is hard is change the culture towards people driving more affordable card and using public transportation without feeling like they had lost in life.
The problem is when we get these features we get lazy. Now I would love my car having such a feature. On the long trip I can relax for a second when I see it is safe keep at a constant speed and say in the lane. Because fatigue makes it so you can't do that easy task so easily causing more fatigue. Not to sleep or even take your eyes off the road but to let your nerves relax a bit to continue driving safely.
While the robbery explained is an exaggeration. However someone who fell asleep with their phone dropped beside them could be easily snagged and not noticed by people. Or the thief could sit next to you and just get up with your laptop bag. However the real problem with public transportation is the fact enough people don't live in cities that will keep the damand up. I live 30 miles away from my office. On my commute there is a 1/6 the car in front of me or behind me will go to the next urban center I am traveling too. The US is too wide spread. And have lived in a city it just plain sucked. Noisy all the time police who don't do their jobs attempts to beuitify your property gets abused by the feral kids. I am much happier living further away from work in my tiny hybrid car to go home to a place I don't need to feel on the edge all the time.
However this is desktop share. They fail to report mobile devices. That means Linux is growing market share in a shrinking market. It is the Linux users are now switching off as fast as Windows and Mac. The percent is a dangerous way to use math to lie to the public about the truth.
GMO is for Liberals As Global Warming is for conservatives
Liberals have a hard time realizing that something is safe. While conservatives have a hard time realizing that something is dangerious.
We need to take the political nonsence out of science and teach science as it suppose to be a method of determining truth by a rigorous set of rules. Let's not put on TV every new hypothesis and call it a theory. So people jump blindly on scientific guesses before the process runs it corse.
Much like many consumer product. It is difficult for a long term development project to know where the direction of computing will be when the project is done. Vista isn't a bad OS but it wasn't good for the time. Computer requirements had slowed down in clock speed. Multi-core CPU had picked up. While Microsoft won the browser war it failed to influence the direction of web standards as much as it wanted. And security with convince compromise hasn't been settled. Microsoft security was based on alert warning for dangerious activities. This method is largely unsuccessful because it became the "Boy to cried wolf" where people reflexively ignores all warnings. Now if computing had moved to a different direction say faster single core cpu. Removing a lot of legacy systems and coding the Microsoft way. Then vista may had been more successful.
Yea, millions of dollars a year because it can be hacked. If I wanted to hack a device I would get one used off of eBay for less. There is no real point on getting equipment new just to hack it. Chances are it is because they had good experience with that router. Being most broadband is still under 50mbs there isn't that much need to upgrade. Granted I haven't used one in years and I am happy with the Trendnet that I have now. However I never had any bad feelings towards linksys
...that would be introduced in a major version change.
Aka. The most aged. UNIX systems also have a migration over time unfortunately for the most part UNIX was beat out by Linux. However MacOS X is a UNIX system. And Solaris was Turning to be more Linux like. What we see as Real UNIX like is just out nostalgia for the old systems ignoring the modern trade offs that has happened to deal with today's computing demands.
Well to be fair TNG did a much better job with the PADs with the design than TOS Electronic Clipboard. However if Apple couldn't kill all the Android phones with its patents, what do you expect from this guy. .

Chances are it would be the company with the highest "Good Will" (Accounting term for name recognition) on their balance sheets. Will keep the name.
