You are working under the impression that dealing with people works smoothly like a software program, and there exists a fully working solution. Real life is about finding the path where the benefits are better then the costs.
Your example of the informant who rats out all his enemies and competition, while means he is still scum causing problems, it does prevent the others from doing so.
But what is even as common is the low level criminal, who isn't actually trying to be a bad person, but just to make a living because he doesn't know of an other way. Getting paid to rat out other criminals, including much higher level ones, can give him money to survive the next week and avoid crime until he needs the money again.
Not everyone needs to be hip and trendy. They look for the features and buy a phone at the best price that gives them those features.
Will BB get its #1 spot again... Probably not, but if they get caught up with the rest of the world they may be able to hang on.
20 years ago. We would say the same thing about Apple. People were buying PC's in droves, schools even stopped buying Apple PC. Their macs of the time while had some advanced features they were lacking in others...
It took Apple a few years to gets its groove back. First Groove the iMac: All technology aside it was a decent computer that came in colorful colors, and rather easy for a college kid to pack up at the end of the semester. Second Groove Titanium Powerbook: A powerful laptop that came with OS X, which allowed for serious work to be done again. In a thin(for the time) case. Third Groove: the iPod it fit what the market actually wanted, other MP3 players were either too small in storage or too bulky. With the addition of the iTunes store it added a legal way to get digital songs without going threw questionable channels. Third and a half Groove: the iPhone the iPad they grew off of the iPods popularity, and changed how people think of smart phones, which caught Blackberry with its pants down.
Did you ever change ISP? Perhaps choose to pay more for one that will not kick you out?
When you have competition it is often the case the crappy stuff is much cheaper than the quality stuff. If you want good quality you will need to pay for it.
When you have these monopoly situations you often get in the middle quality at a price that won't be considered as gouging.
But if you want to get good press, for your video YouTube is the wisest choice.
1. A lot of people use it, and do random searches against it. 2. Recommended similar videos help people discover new stuff. 3. A lot of software and tools to help you post there even your basic Smart Phone.
If you put in on your website, you are going to need to try to get people going to your website, if you have it on YouTube, people may be able to find you.
Think of the old 1990's ISP model... You had your local telephone monopoly/government service who gave you your phone connection. Then you could choose your favorite ISP for your internet. You had two bills one for your ISP and one to the Phone Company.
To fix this today You have the ISP and you have a company/government service providing the cable/fiber infrastructure. You need to pay for the infrastructure either by paying the company for it, or via your taxes. Then you choose the ISP (probably local) who will give you your internet service. Faster speed means you will pay the ISP and the Infrastructure more. But say you have a 3 or 4 ISP in your area which you can choose from and say 2 levels of infrastructure (Cable or Fiber) then you can pick and choose and mix and match.
I find it funny with the vaccine nonsense, and your comment. It makes it seem that having autism is worse then death. Now there are many degrees of autism (Hence why it is the autism spectrum)
Most people with Autism will fall on the more mild areas, chances are with some different education the child will grow up to become a productive member of society. Even people with extreme cases are not completely out of it.
I have basic cable so I can plug right into my TV. However with digital TV being common why arn't more TV's handling it so you don't need the cable box.
Crypto is only a small part of security. It in many ways is over exaggerated in its effectiveness.
It is true that when your packet leaves your network you have no control on where the data goes threw, so someone in the middle can read and port scan your data, that is why Crypto is useful and should be used. But... Most networks do not use Hubs but smarter switches and routers, where they don't log all the traffic that goes threw them so chances are that random packet that is going from professional network to professional network won't have packets floating around, that can be sniffed. Most hacks today take advantage of problems in the code, not decryption the data in mid stream. If you are designing a system encryption is the stuff you can put at the end. But secure coding isn't about crypto but about a solid program design.
Yes not all trademark lawsuits are based on complete evil money grabbing. But based on actually protecting their Trademark from confusing their brand with something else.
Even if people realize that it isn't an "official" site but it could be confused with a sanctioned site. If any of those hacks produce something dangerous or poor quality, people may blame them for following the tricks off the site.
The first rule is the following. Code it so you yourself couldn't get in without proper authorization.
Now this doesn't mean your program in invulnerable or someone with more skill could get in. But it gets you thinking in the right mindset.
Back in the good old days, it was common to have a back door. So you could get in if something went wrong. This wasn't a bad idea at the time, because most people wouldn't try going thew the back door that they don't know about, because they didn't know about it... However today many of these hacks are automated. And hit your system not because you have been pegged as worthy of getting broken into, but because the system found an opening and took advantage of it.
So if you can get in without your authorization then you need to work harder to secure your system.
One main issue I can see, is over sterilization of food. There are a lot of bacteria's that we ingest and have in your bodies that is helpful. And a lot of people today are getting health issues from living in an overly sterile environment. We have drugs like pro-biodics which are in essence a healthy persons poop in pill form, to try to get these people more healthy.
There are bad Germs that make us sick. But there are a lot of them that are helpful or at least seem neutral (and could be helpful) that we like to kill off, because they are just germs.
To explain further. We like to think our favorite political group is more knowledgeable in science then your proponents are, however that isn't the case, both will accept and reject science based on how it goes for or against their political stance.
In General Terms Liberals Look for Problems and try to propose solutions. So if there is anything stated as good they will dig into it to find faults and try to fix them. Now this could be a good thing, as fixing problems tends to make things better... However often the case is the problems have already been minimized, and the benefit of the whole is a worthwhile trade-off to the found problem, and trying to fix the problem will create new costlier problems.
In General Terms Conservatives tend to look for successes, and try to prevent changes to what already works. This process allows for concepts and ideas to mature and allow them to grow to their potential. But this could mean that there could be large problems that really need to be fixed, but are against trying to fix it. Allowing for the problems to exceed the values.
Now science when done properly isn't politically motivated it looks at the data, proposes a model for it, this model tests it. And the easiest model that matches the data tends to be the widely accepted one. This means for Liberals that there are going to be things while there is a problem is so minor compared to the overall value that it isn't worth fixing. To Conservatives means there are problems so large that something needs to be done to be fixed.
You are aware that most Americans have health insurance already including people who are not super rich. Medicare and Medicaid is there too to help out as well.
The ACA or Obama Care has created a set of cheap insurances you can buy from too.
I am not stating that there are no big problems. But you are over exadurating the state of healthcare in America.
Wow for a multi-billion dollar company. 6 Problems over the course of 20 years. Not too bad. And a lot of these Problems you stated are just your personal gripes not actually real problems.
I do listen to NPR. They have gotten a bit more moderate, however their is a liberal tone in their discussions.
They are not Rant Radio. But they are more apt to paint a negative image to the Tea Party without trying to show their virtues. As well the Occupy movement they made them seem a bit more organized and virtuous then they actually were.
That said NPR actually tries to give you news, Not commentary. But they get their views out in deciding what stories to play, and what isn't worth it.
Yes you can, the world would run so much smoother if they all had the same opinions and beliefs that I do.
This type of thinking is the first step to tyranny. As any opposing opinion must either be from the Stupid (who needs to be reeducated), Coerced (Where we need to find the ring leader spreading the ideas), or from some evil in them (Where they need to be jailed or killed)
Many Tyrants of the world came from people who had good ideas and gained and used their power to try to make real. Unfortunately there always seems to be a part of the population who has a different view that needs to be controlled.
In America sometimes I am very frustrated that our government doesn't move much because they just don't seem to agree on any little thing. However due to the fact that they do disagree, and not feel like the government is going to go out and kill them for disagreeing with them is also comforting.
When you have a government where all the people are working smoothly and efficiently without much conflict. Actually is very scary because you need to ask yourself why does everyone agree with this. Especially as every choice you make normally has some sort of trade-off which someone else may take the different path.
Here is the problem. The Right Wing Media has done such a good job a painting the Democrats and Obama as pure Evil, is that any sign of working with the Democrats on anything is a sign that they are being manipulated. So these politicians cannot dare to do anything that will make Obama side considered a win. As if they did they will get voted out in the next primaries.
The Left Wing Media makes the Right Wing like they are so out of touch and evil, so the Right feels constantly threatened, thus makes their stance more resolved.
This degree of Polarization has gone to the Crazy level. Simple common sense solutions will not go threw because it was the other side who came up with it first.

I haven't seen much evidence that Google or Apple have a trend of designing insecure or broken systems.
Yes there is the occasional security flaw. But that is about on par with everything else including the precious open source systems as well.
Not everyone needs to be hip and trendy. They look for the features and buy a phone at the best price that gives them those features.

They went online got the data, printed it on a dot matrix printer, then scanned it with a cheap hand scanner, then posted it online.
Sounds like the government to me.
How about people?
I have basic cable so I can plug right into my TV. However with digital TV being common why arn't more TV's handling it so you don't need the cable box.
Was this suppose to be a joke? Or would Starbucks want more B-School majors in their workforce?

Yes, but America is also one of the few countries that are not crushing themselves from government overspending either.
