These safety protocols comes at a cost, so yes you will still need to meter to pay for the upkeep and running. However it is a source of energy that can be produces without killing the budget.

However if you grow up being fed junk food, this craving system gets out of whack. Where it says I need some protein it would say I want a doughnut, because while growing up on junk food, it was available and it at least made you feel better.
Diets are not about people being smart or stupid. That is why they are hard to manage, because you get cravings and if craving matches are not really in sync you may be eating 3 doughnuts to get the protein of say an egg. So after you craving is met you get an excess of other stuff your body really doesn't need that much of.
However for most people I know who look 10 year younger then their peers (Myself included), I find it is less about Diet, but Drugs, Smoking and Alcohol usage.

Organization X, Y, and Z needs a product to do something. I expect other similar organization would want this too. The work will take me 5 months to complete. I have a relationship with X but not with the others. I build for X they pay me for their time. Now normally for that they own the software and can choose to give it to the others or sell it or just hold onto it. Organization X who had paid me a lot of money to make the product usually doesn't want me to give it away to their competitors. So their competitors get the advantage at companies X expense.
For plumbers you can't duplicate your work at near 0 cost. So your analogy is faulty.
I live a modest life, how ever I do need to pay the bills. For the most part I make my living doing stuff against the ideals of the GPL. Here is why. 1. I am not charismatic enough to gain peoples attention, so I will not make a living off of speeches and publications.

3. The software I write tends to be user friendly and intuitive to use. So consulting off the product or service isn't a good way either.
4. The ease of Internet Download makes shipping of media seem barbaric.
Now I would love to make all my stuff open source, however I do need to live, and I prefer if possible not to live off of government handouts. I am a software developer by heart and nature, doing it as a hobby would be a waste of my talents. So how would a 100% GPL developer operate in a small business settings?

Copyrights for information for example. a Book or Software can be copied infinite of times thus making the supply infinity thus making all information free (Which would be bad, as there is a lot of work, from a small supply of people who can do it) so the Copyright is a way of keeping the supply down. We also have governments who either put price caps, or subsidize services such as energy. Because the demand is so high, that if left alone the prices would be too high. Now these changes throw stuff off its equilibrium and we often get tradeoffs from it, such as problems with sharing information, or less then superior service.
The biggest problem with capitalism today, isn't too much or not enough regulations, but lack of education on dealing with it. People should really learn to spot if they really need the product or service or not and find alternatives if they think it is unfair. While Android is off the Linux Kernel, it isn't GNU/Linux.

Well the French and the English have had their centuries of fighting each other for political and social dominance.
In short the English Won. However the French while military peaceful with the English will refuse to give up any social dominance they might have.
