How many times have you made a quick demo/proof of concept code, only to be rushed to market besides you express statement that it isn't complete yet. Because your boss doesn't understand what it takes harden your code, or pressures you to just fix the UI to prevent the bad stuff from happening.
For example if you see a website that had javascript that clears out Single Quotes before sending the data over, it may mean that it is ripe for a SQL injection attack.
The issue with a proper diet isn't as much on how long you will live on the average but the quality of life while you are living.
A heavy meet eater lives to be 75, someone with a well balanced diet will live to be 85.
10 years difference overall, while important may or may not be worth it for the quality of life. However if you are heavy meat ether and the last 25 of your life is in pain and general being sick. vs. the last 1 years of a balanced diet. Was your decision to not live healthy effected your living standards well.
Well for every farm that goes out of business or reduces its size. Chances are the Land will not be growing fallow, but sold and made into a housing Complex, A factory, a strip mall... In essence it will be replaced with something that is more harmful overall. And if farming comes back the farmers will buy wooded land and plow that over to make crops.
Right now we are too partisan for a law that allows the government to buy for sale farm land, Just hold on to it let it grow fallow, Then sell it back at market rate back to the farmers 10 20 100 years in the future.
That is all fine and good if you are talking about small consumer grade software. But for larger applications installations are not as easy as a wizard.
For the most part you need the following groups.
Team 1: Product Development 1. Programmers They write the code. 2. Developers They write the code too, but they write the framework code for the developers. 3. Architect who give the bigger picture guidance to the Developers a unified say on how things should be done and where they are placed. 3'. Project Manager works parallel with the Architect to make sure the project is moving at the right time and deals with management. 4. Management they give the business case that needs to be solved and approves solutions from the Architect and Project Manager.
Team 2: Product Implementation. 1. Support Group: They do the physical install to the system. Often called Consultants/Contractors... 2. Implementation Designers: They design the workflow needed to install the documentation 3. Technical Writing: Their job is to document the application and work with Team 1 to get the information. 3'. Project Manager works with Technical Writters and gives insturctions to the Implementation designers. 4. Management (This could be part of Team 1) In essence a way to keep the two teams in sync.
Now this is for a setup of a large complex project, where the Install is more then just a wizard click away. But installing the software, getting the configuations correct and dealing with the customers.
Most of Team 1 should be kept away from the customers, because the customer will often want to deal with them, and bypass Team 2, as Team 2 is considered less technical, and will often say Yes this version can do it or No. And try to pressure team one to keep on custom configure code to do what they wan't... This could corrupt the project, Because the project if done well should be following best practices, and the customers want to just do it the way they did it in the past.
Your troll was too subtle, to be funny. "RIM's main problem is that enterprise companies have started moving away from the platform." While obvious, usually on par with the average Slashdot informative moderation.
"People don't want to carry around several smart phones and are much more eager to choose either iPhone or WP7 phones." This statement begins as true (insightful moderation) and if you changed WP7 or added Android. It would complete it. Your troll is based on skipping Android phones which are actually far more popular then WP7.
"Microsoft is known for being the office centric company and therefore has fantastic support for Exchange server and office apps." Being that Apple Purchased the license from Microsoft to support exchange is one reason why RIM is in trouble on the enterprise market, as a lot of companies do use Exchange (Rightly or Wrongly).
"RIM lost the audience it had when Windows Phones were introduced (while Windows Mobile also had many work users, WP was a major improvement)." This is pointing out a correlation, however you don't see the numbers showing that Windows Phone is taking over their market, it is more likely due to Microsoft jumping onto to Smart Phone Band Wagon.
"RIM basically lost all of its advantages to iPhone (home users) and Windows Phone's (work users). The only place I still see some Blackberries is the university students in Bangkok, Thailand (crazy adventures there, let me tell you)." I haven't seen that much effort in Microsoft trying to take over the business market with Windows Phone, but trying to attract the consumer market. Apple and Android had already gotten the consumer market and are now working on making it more business friendly.
While saying anything nice about Microsoft on Slashdot can get some troll moderation, also adding Apple and ignoring Android as a competitive product helps. You just didn't get it right. You had the pieces to make a good troll, but you didn't put it together correctly, It is like a white nerd trying to talk street to look cool. You say all the right words but you end up looking even more out of place.
You as a patient can ask. They do have a feeschedule that they can lookup and give you their prices.
They tend not too because the billing is done after the procedures. The Dr. Actually is more willing to perform care and not stressing out the patient. However if you need to know the price beforehand ask.
The average meat loving American eats too much meat and not enough veggies. However for people who have a balanced diet are actually healthier then vegans.
The vegans I have met seem worn out and aged a bit more. (This can also be due to the fact a lot of vegans seem to care on what they eat, but not what they inhale though too)
During the imperialism period, England and Spain, Were the big players pushing English and Spanish across the world. The French had a chance but sold it during the Napoleonic wars. Germany got into the imperialism way too late, the other countries (didn't expand that much) well we got some traction with Portuguese in Brazil. But for the most part English and Spanish dominated the rest of the world, for European languages.
It depends on the job. For cases of trying to prevent theft people who are working as a Call-Center employee people who have High-Self esteem (AKA Diva's) Will often feel that they are too good for this work, and feel justified of stealing stuff as compensation for the extra pay that they are not getting because they are so great.
But what is more to the point, is how often our emotional reaction controls our reasoning then we like to admit.
For example in politics there is the use of Power Words, these words give us an emotional picture that in turns turns off our rational processing.
For example Back in 2003 when asked before going to war with Iraq a reporter asked If they are WMD their response was this is a "Slam Dunk". They didn't answer the question however we all stopped asking and most of us (YES MOST OF US) supported the war, assuming that Iraq had an obvious stock pile a WMD just ready to be launched.
Then you get other words that are twisted around too. That have a strong positive or negative context. Capitalism = Greed, Capitalism = Ingenuity
We are all effected by these emotional statements and we change our minds based on these.
For example if you hear someone complaining about something we actually think because this guy is being critical that he may actually have a good point.
Making too big of a deal will only make the problem worse.
Getting average Joe slob will not help. Half will demand that this is just a Liberal Lie to get us to stop driving cars. The Other half will demand we go back to living like cave men.
Putting political pressure on our leaders will only get them to act more partisan.
I think it is more of a case most people really don't have a strong moral compass or have really though about the issues at hand.
We Grow up with our parents saying that the Republicans are Evil and the Democrats are Good or the other way around, this helps fix your views of the world. Now if these moral issues don't come up in your life, you can go on the belief that it is correct without really thinking about it. For me what helped me moderate myself from growing up with very conservative parents was the fact I was in the schools debate team, and we were encouraging to play devils advocate on almost all the issues at hand, even to the point of supporting the Extremism Lefts and Rights.
The problem is most of our moral issues are on a high level view, and once details come and disrupt it, it burrs the issues. And what seems black and white on paper is actually a complex problem.
Microsoft has gotten a little nicer lately. Mostly because they are no longer number one. They need to fight much harder to stay relevant in an arguably post PC world.
And what hurt them the most? Not Apple, not Java, not Linux, But the Google and their products.
Why Google, it changed the priorities of the Developers. When Gmail and Google Maps came out, there was a company that wasn't afraid to put a product out there that used newer web technologies to make richer Web Application that run just as well on Linux, Mac, your phone, as it does on Windows. What that did was say THIS Technology is here and enough people are using it to be viable and if you don't have it then you need to upgrade. Now that we had a big player open the flood doors to us, we were allowed to make richer Web Applications. (Yes I hear a collective grone from Slashdot users who still wish that we only Telnet (well maybe SSH now) into a BBS like system vs the web, and did all their browsing via VT100 terminal set) But application and system performance aside this mean more and more software written no longer NEEDS a particular OS, but a standard compliment browser. So for most people now with the exceptions of Games we are buying less software (including the cheap bargain bin stuff) and going to the web to use more services, and companies custom app development has gone more web based too, so your OS for the workstations is less relevant then ever.
Now that this has happen Microsoft needs to adjust, however their history was too abusive. Near the end of it, people used Microsoft products because they had to not because they wanted too. Now that we have choices we are not going to Microsoft. Bing bs Google. Sure Bing is probably just as good if not even a little better then Google but besides a couple lapses in evilness we as the end user never felt wronged by Google.
Yes, if this was a coal or natural gas plant such an issue wouldn't even make the news. But it is a Scary Nuclear Power plant then it must mean there is a HUGE Poroblem even though the fail safes all worked correctly. Because Nuclear is Scary.
I am not saying Nuclear is Clean, Safe to Cheap to Meter. But really it is one of our better power sources, and we should be sure that we support nuclear and support proper regulation on this energy source as it has a lot of long term dangerous elements to it.
Stop falling to the propaganda of both parties who say either we should go Nuclear and at the same time think the industry will self regulate. Or avoid nuclear all together because you can't trust industries to self regulate.
Well that rule can't be too hard to enforce. I mean these people are already in New Jersey, and they are at the DMV to boot. I don't think you can get closer to hell.
If you can't get the hardware. Try to Virtualize a Test Envionment with like VM Ware or Virtual Box. At least you have something to play in before it you put it out on the open.
However REAL LIFE, you need to need to determine if such a punishment is out of bounds. Face it, this girl messed up the lives of other people, There has been a legal prescience of giving jail time. Vs. your Castration Example where you offer the person a Hard Long Punishment, vs. a Less hard but for the rest of your life punishment.

I personally think the Criminal Justice system is messed up.
You Jail people who dangerous to society.
You Execute people who are too dangerous to be in jail, or finds ways to excaping from jail.
Some people can be reformed others cannot.
I have been reporting that problem for a while, but they just assume that I am an idiot who just doesn't know how to use a computer.
My parents sill lament on how they say that leaded gasoline smells so much better then the unleaded.
you have now been placed on a watch list in regards to your threat on the source link.

Because Oracle bough it. And companies are evil all the time. So if it was open source, they will close it Tommarow...
But I think they were saying OpenOffice vs StarOffice.
Do you really need a 3d printer, or is it just a toy?
