Amen! FrameMaker is a terrible word processor and Word is a terrible book maker. If anything, FrameMaker could go away (forever please) and the chapter and heading functions could replace the terrible Word ones (forever please).
In Adobe's defense, they do make what I consider to be the two best pieces of creative software ever seen on a personal computer: Photoshop and Illustrator. I'd argue for After Effects too, but I'm not experienced enough to judge it against other industry tools.
But Adobe isn't finished buying out the myriad of small companies it uses to supply all the smaller stuff in their suites. RoboHelp, InDesign, FrameMaker, Captivate, Dreamweaver, Flash to name a few, were all developed by smaller companies bought out by Adobe. They are now in the unenviable position of trying to make all those products work well together and have a similar look/feel. They are failing. If Microsoft buys all that stuff out, I'll probably be done with Adobe products (other than AE and PS).
Ok, so I misread the article. It isn't exactly written well enough on a quick read to be clear that they are opening the PS3 updating the firmware then selling it. I thought they were charging you $30 to update your PS3, not one they were selling off the shelf.
Still, you are are extra dumb to buy that. And Best Buy would be extra dumb to purposefully not have any new-unopened ones for sale.
There is nothing unethical about making money by providing a service that people are WILLINGLY paying for, even when there are more apparently rational options available.
This is not a cellular provider or a cable company...you have options.
but best buy is pre loading it and forcing you to buy it with work done and non pre loading ones are out of stock.
Um, citation, please? I've never seen an open box PS3 sold at either of the two Best Buy's near me. How do you "pre-load" something if the box isn't opened?
and then when you try to buy they push a $50-$80 monster HDMI cable on you.
That's called capitalism. I buy my HDMI cables on amazon.com for $3 a piece. If I needed one in 5 minutes, I'd pay $50 for one at Best Buy.
When games were new and novel (like my C64, Atari 5200), I expected very high prices. Call it early adoption, if you will.
Inflation occurs, but the price of video games should DECREASE relative to inflation over time as they become more efficiently developed and distributed.
I agree with your assessment. But doing so automatically puts us in the Fanboi category, regardless of how well the Apple track pads are actually designed.
Maybe because he was injured the first time due to his "ignorance" it would be good for him to solicit advice THIS time...preferably from such experts like yourself. Thanks for the constructive advice.
I'm in the tech industry, I play video games, I have a PS3, four Macs and three PCs, I'm 40 and have teenaged children...I'm no recluse, yet I've NEVER seen Second Life except in an episode of The Office. I've also never seen The Sims. I'm beginning to think there's some sort of ratings conspiracy to hype up products that don't really exist.
Then the 2D elements like the actors, and the 1D elements, like Hayden Christensen, could be composited OUT
FTFY. A good start would be to digitally remove Hayden Christensen altogether and replace him with a stick figure/cartoon/child's drawing/Play-doh figurine/marionette/cabbage patch kid.
They can charge double and I'll pay..not for the 3D mind you, but for the nice big screen and the awesome sound system at the IMAX. I've forgotten it was in 3d (and Toy Story 3 as well) because I was more impressed by the IMAX experience.
Note to execs...you don't have to add expensive stereoscopic cameras to get me to pay $14 for a movie...just shoot it in nice HD with a good sound track and ship it to the IMAX.
Can we get the short version? Something like stupid special effects, bad character development, poor casting and vapid, after-the-fact revisionist screen writing?
Completely off topic but the fact Pushing Daisies was canceled (before coming back) proves the American viewing audience have become the America depicted in Idiocracy. "I'm baitin' over here...huh huh"
A metal box that emits a signal in a specific frequency range that is not authorized by the FCC is prohibited, yes.
I used to be a jammer in the military. You can't just go around jamming stuff for fun or for your own "liberties".

MS Paint might actually become usable if they acquire that secret cropping function that Photoshop has had since 1990!
Good luck making a "much better product" to replace an industry standard that has a 20-year head start.

Yeah, and they can get rid of that stupid cross-platform support too!
Yes! I've been waiting for Adobe to quit wasting resources on buggy crash-fest Windows versions of Premiere, AE, and Flash for years!

someone want to comment on the effectiveness of GPS jammers?
Most likely prohibited by the FCC.

oops...somehow I doubled the awesomeness of my Atari 2600 and made it a 5200...

You couldn't follow an analogy that breaks down to "people are different"?

I saw Up! in 3d and completely forgot it was in 3d. When I watch it on Blu-ray (2d) at my house, nothing jumps out as being missing.

You "think" it'll be a passing fad? How about this...it IS a passing fad (for at least the third time in my lifetime).
But you gotta try to fool each new generation and pass something off as if it's the first time this has ever happened.

When history exposes your film making skills as a fraud (more quaint than talented), your only option is to hang on to the past.

Hey George, how about making new movies that are actually good instead of milking that Taun-Taun of a cash cow until it runs dry?
